Great 4 star Family Friendly Resort

Stayed June 14-19th with my spouse, brother and 9 year old niece. Arrival: No wow factor or “Welcome home”. We are used to the cold towel and welcome drink at most AI properties. It was very much here’s a tag for your luggage go check in over there. Check in was in the preferred club lounge in the lobby. We were eventually provided with a welcome drink as we completed our paperwork. Our butler escorted us to the rooms with a quick tour of the property. Rooms: we booked Preferred Club Ocean View and received an upgrade to a Master Suite. The other room in our party was booked as double beds and received a King. It wasn’t a big deal since my niece is 9; sleeping with Daddy is still ok. There were issues in the other room with the shower drain not being attached; essentially leaving a hole in the shower floor that was a hazard for the 9 year old. Sadly after reporting to maintenance, our UVC person, and our butler it was not fixed during our stay. Overall the rooms are a bit dated, and ours did not cool below 20 celsius. Staff: Cons: our butler left a lot to be desired. We are not high maintenance and tip very well. There was a complimentary bottle of white wine chilled in the room upon check in. However no way to open it. It took 2 days for our butler to assist with this request. We also asked for a different pillow (no pillow menu on Hyatt app) around 2:30 one day and did nit receive it until the next day. We also found a couple staff members who really seemed unhappy with their job. This is the first resort where we never had a single member of the entertainment team engage. Pros: Abrahan took great care of us by the pool each day. He always had a smile on his face, and would walk by each morning to greet everyone! Ismael, Inoel, and Jean were fantastic by the preferred pool. Our housekeeper (Monica) and our mini bar person (Anderson?) were wonderful! The wine sommelier (Benerito) and head chef Felipe were so accommodating. Benerito would help with pairing suggestions for each dinner. The Stephanie’s (hostesses) at Capers and Cin Cin were friendly and treated guests like family. Restaurants: Italian- our favorite-shrimp risotto was excellent! We ate here twice. Bluewater- very good- loved the empanadas and skirt steak Felipe asked what foods we like, and prepared us a traditional Dominican meal with Sancocho, fried fish, and plantains. By far the best meal we’ve had in a while. Hibachi was the worst we’ve ever had! They had about 30 people at our table, and the food was terrible! French- the worst we’ve had at a Hyatt resort. The onion soup had no cheese, duck confit was not crispy at all. The service at this restaurant also left a lot to desire. The hostess was rude, server never offered any drinks, and no knife provided for steak. Preferred club lunch: the worst food we’ve ever had at an AI. Snacks in the preferred club lounge also left a lot to desire Room service was surprisingly good- our go to for most lunches Grounds: well maintained. There are several pools; and we all enjoyed the waterpark. The seaweed was really bad- so we didn’t have much beach time. However we did not let it ruin our vacation. Evening shows were pretty good. Would we return? Possibly.
Always incredible!

This is our second holiday to this great hotel the staff go above and beyond in everything they do nothing is too much. as all the latest reviews have said the seaweed is a problem at the moment.I watched my self 7 or 8 men with rakes trying to spead it out from the piles so the tractor can collect it up and still it was to much for them (not the hotels fault) Go and see cesarin and Carolina at the mixology bar by the taco van great drinks and great people they treat you like family 10/10

I will add more details towards the end of our stay. Visiting the “main pool” and being treated like scum kinda solidified why I am not interested in returning. There was chaos upon our entry - no warm welcome let alone welcome drink. We felt uncomfortable being shuttled to another desk to do strange paperwork after a long day of travel with 4 young children, let alone how we felt as adults - we would have liked to relax.
