Chilled out ten nights 10/10
Arto C (Scotland, United Kingdom) on Jun 05, 2025
I have just returned from a ten night stay at this lovely hotel all inclusive. From check in to check out everything was perfect. We booked our stay (two couples) through TUI We arrived at the hotel after a one hour fifteen minute bus journey from Cancun airport, check in was smooth,we got lower floor room 4003.The room was spacious, clean with a stocked up mini bar, plenty bath towels. The restaurant options were a lovely buffet breakfast and lunch in the pool restaurant Quetzabel and her staff served us well, with a smile nothing was a problem.Dinner at night was a lacarte (pre-booked) in one of the five restaurants,Asian, steak,Italian,Mexican and international, the international restaurant laid on a cabaret ,starting at 8-30pm. All the meals were ample and a varied choice, our favourite was the steakhouse the fillet steaks were cooked to perfection The pool area and beach were perfect. The pool area had a swim up bar with a great selection of drinks, and cocktails. The entertainment staff(Paulina,Charlie,Leonardo Diego,Tita, and Edgar) to name but a few got everyone joining in with pool games,if you liked but if not you could chill out around the pool. The entertainment staff were all first class. The beach was cleaned every morning of seaweed by the very hard working beach cleaners, water was warm, and a nice walk along the beach every morning was just bliss. At night there was entertainment laid on at the pool bar area,ABBA night,Michael Jackson,Mexican fiesta etc etc also beach parties. The hard working staff at the pool bar (Roberto,Ricardo,Freddy,Noe) were excellent, well done guys, always served with a smile, even when it got really busy at the weekend, with Americans,Canadians coming to the hotel for three night weekend. I could go on and on about how great this hotel is we will definitely be back. Thanks again Arthur (Scotland)
Fabulous staff hotel a little tired

We stayed at the hotel in May and had a great holiday, If I was reviewing the staff and the excellent customer service alone I would have given this hotel 5 stars. A special mention for Quetzabel in the buffet restaurant who greet you and took you to your table. She was excellent, friendly and we both enjoyed our morning Spanish lesson. We would also mention the staff in Bikini Snack Bar and the beach bar who were also friendly and welcoming. Again a special mention for Pascual who cleaned our room, he was excellent and our room was kept spotless. Generally all staff were friendly and greeted you around the resort and our a great asset to this hotel. The hotel in general was very clean and all the restaurants we tried were very good and again great service, favourite was the steak house The outside areas of the hotel were well kept and look very welcoming, although there were plenty of sunbeds people still got up very early to reserve them, with some of them not being used all day. Maybe the hotel should look at having a policy in place were towels are removed when beds are not in use. Also feel that you need umbrellas on the beach to provide more shade, however the beach was one of the best we have stayed by. The reason for only 4 stars were the rooms, whilst the bed was really comfortable and the bedding and towels were of excellent quality, the rooms were a little tired with marked floors and broken floor tiles. The bathroom also had marks on the tiles and although we knew the rooms was throughly cleaned they made the area look dirty. The rooms do not need a fully refurbishment just some areas of maintenance looked at to bring them up to standard. Whilst some of the evening entertainment was good (Abba, Neon Party, Mexican Night and Latin Group) it seem to be more like and 18-30 club. The bar in the reception whilst again the staff were excellent it lacked atmosphere and the entertainment was on very early evening and there seemed little their after you had been to eat. If we were to come back again the main reason would be for the excellent customer service we received. You should be very proud of you hotel team one of the best we have experienced. Great but could do better

Firstly I would have given a 5 star review but there were a few issues which I will cover later. The hotel is in a great location and makes you feel as if you are back to nature with little animals wandering around the jungle type setting. Having stayed in Cancun this place is far more tranquil and relaxing. There is a cenote about a 10 minutes walk away where even if you don't go in the water you can dangle your feet and have a fish foot spa. Recommended. The staff are lovely. A big hello and thank you especially to Quetzabel the lady who welcomed us into the restaurant. Fabulous lady who hopefully will be recognised by the hotel as a great asset to them. Also Jose who served us. I will mention Tita from animation. Lovely girl and the yoga ladies. Finally Susie who ran the Pilates class. Very professional. Too many others to mention but the above people made our holiday. The hotel is located on it's own stretch of beach but sadly the sea weed was really bad so I wasn't able to do my usual beach walks. The staff did there best to keep it clear but it was a losing battle. Not the hotel's fault. Just nature. I will mention Jorge at the Prodive sports centre on the beach. We did a couple of trips organised by him. Both were great and people from Prodive waited in reception with us to ensure that our transport arrived and that everything was okay. Much appreciated. The trip that included swimming in a cenote and snorkelling with turtles was well worth it. Now for the negatives. The room was fine but the hotel is a bit noisy first thing in a morning. Mainly other guests scraping furniture about which I can't blame the hotel for just selfish inconsiderate people. I was awakened by 6 a.m. every morning. Also the standard of cleaning was great the first week but the second week not so good. I had to ask for clean towels and water which had not been replenished. There was some animal poop on the balcony which didn't get cleaned up! The hotel was made aware of this. Other than that there was always hot water and the beds were comfy. Food was another issue. Normally when I go all inclusive there is always a buffet offer in the evening but not at this hotel. You had to pre-book a restaurant in advance. This meant you had to eat at the time you book and not when you are ready to eat. Also the food got very repetitive, especially as we were there for 2 weeks. We had one dreadful experience at the Asian restaurant when we ordered a meal which we had eaten before. It arrived and all I can say is it looked like a plate of monosodium glutamate goop! Needless to say it was sent back but there was no apology and no offer to replace it. I think they were having a bad night as the main staff had all disappeared at this stage and left a poor young waiter who didn't speak English to deal with it. Again feedback was left at Reception. I would make a suggestion that there is no need for all the a la carte restaurants and a buffet offering could be made as an option instead as I don't eat a great deal and I find it preferable to be able to pick and choose what I eat and when I eat and not have to order a meal I won't finish. Also the white wine was not drinkable. I would suggest you change it. I have been in Mexico before and know there is better wine on offer. We got quite excited when we had a glass of Pinot Grigio at the airport. At last a drinkable wine! Lol. Finally there was a bit of issue with noise. I chose to stay at this hotel as I wanted a relaxed holiday and having stayed in Cancun before where it is party time and very loud I thought this would be ideal. First week - great. Music around the pool not too loud so I could happily go chill on the beach without it being intrusive. However, second week I am not sure if they had weekend party people arrive but the atmosphere changed. One selfish stupid female arrived with what I can only describe as a 'boom box' and decides it's okay to turn it up on the beach just for her own entertainment. Why was this allowed?? Another group of females were so loud in one of the restaurants we had to ask to change tables. Fortunately the manager must have told them to calm down as it did quieten. Full marks to him. Also the music definitely got louder around the pool so when we went for our late afternoon cocktail I had to ask them to turn it down as we couldn't hear ourselves talk! The first week people around the pool seemed to be having a fun time without the music blasting out so why was there the need to turn the volume up? I don't get it!! Catalonia you really need to take more control over what type of hotel you want to offer. Up market relaxation with low key entertainment around the pool or Cancun loud party time. You cannot do both. Would I return? Yes if it doesn't turn into a party hotel. The grounds and staff are lovely please don't spoil it.
