There’s a lot to love about this place, and with a few exceptional moments I could have raved about this hotel as a destination. Location is great, being convenient, safe and right on the beach. Food was amazing, being authentic, tasty, varied and plentiful. Our room was spacious and comfortable. It did have AC and although appeared basic at first sight, the only thing it really lacked was conveniently located sockets - but I think you can say that about most hotels - which seem to avoid putting sockets next to the bed! Our only issue with our experience was the total lack of support and assistance when our room started flooding from a passing storm. I fully understand that other guests may have had more desperate needs, when a tropical storm passed nearby, but we were left completely on our own for three days - half of our stay. We registered three phone calls and visits to reception to report water coming into our room, the worst of which was water coming through the ceiling for two days and nights. Despite repeated promises, nobody came to help, or even assess the situation. The only support we got was from a passing housekeeper who gave us a dozen towels and lent us her squeegee to remove the water. This was in complete contrast to almost all of the other staff in the bars and restaurants who were amazing.

We visited Mahekal in November 2024 and had the best vacation ever! Every staff member was incredibly nice and friendly. We were looking for special things to do while renting a car, and Corinna at the concierge desk was incredibly helpful! She recommended the most beautiful places around Playa del Carmen, making our trip unforgettable. Thank you for everything!

The resort is fantastic. The service level and the nice personnel is a key part of the experience. Enrique took great care of us for all meals and was super during our whole stay, just to name one of many great persons in the staff. The food was super and also the different options on the breakfast menu.

Excellent resort in a Caribean rustique style. Directly on the beach several pools. Clean. Very good service and security. Ok gym with AC. Three Restaurants and dozens just outside. The breakfast buffe was superb and waiters kind and efficient special thanks to Eduardo Hernandez.

We came for a family vacation with our adult children and had an amazing visit. The beautiful landscaping, pools, beaches, winding paths throughout the grounds and the great architecture all made for a very relaxing environment, so much better than a regular hotel resort. We truly felt like we were in a tropical paradise. The staff and servers were very friendly, special thanks to Enrique for making us feel at home in this wonderful resort.
