While the resort was beautiful and the staff very friendly, the beach clubs located right outside the property made for sleepless (maddening) nights. I live in NYC and am used to constant noise. But the crazy loud music and heavy bass shook our room past 1 am - absolutely ruining our family vacation. (Although I should have suspected something was up as soon as I saw the earplugs in the rooms) When I told the resort manager (at 1 am), the response was only that “they can’t control the night clubs or whatever noise people make outside the walls”. I get it - but I wish I knew about this before I stayed here with my wife and 2 kids. Avoid this place, but If you do end up staying here — be aware of rooms 25 and 26 (or any room near the edges of the property).

This is our 2nd time visiting this property and it’s absolutely amazing! The atmosphere and bungalows are such a unique experience. The staff is absolutely amazing. They are so caring and thoughtful always making you the priority. Love this property a ton!

The property is exquisitely kept. Nature is harmoniously intertwined with clean relaxing space. Everything ng is immaculate in its natural beauty And the staff is incredible

This was our third time visiting Mahekal, and we can once again say how wonderful this resort is. From the accommodations, to the food, to the staff, to the private beach, everything is five star. My husband and I have traveled around the world, but we continue to return to Mahekal for its resort like feel and uniqueness in a great city. It is located right off of fifth avenue, so whether you want to go out and be a tourist or stay at the resort, you won’t be disappointed. Special shoutout to Daniel, the concierge! He made this trip our best one yet. He assisted us with a room upgrade, a birthday surprise for my husband, and anything else we thought of during our stay. We’ve been home for a week and already excited to go back. I couldn’t recommend Mahekal enough!

We spent a week at Mahekal over the Thanksgiving holiday. This was our seventh stay at the resort over the past 5 years. As always, it was excellent. We enjoy the beautifully kept grounds, quiet rooms, and relaxed vibe of the property, along with the ability to walk into Playa Del Carmen in the evening. Fifth Avenue is only steps away, and we have few places (e.g., Off the Vine) that we frequent whenever we're in town. The best thing about Mahekal, however, is the dedicated staff. Enrique and Manual treat us like family and consistently go the extra mile to make sure we have everything we need. This is true of many of the staff members--they all do a wonderful job. The one negative is that Mahekal has suffered noticeable beach erosion over time. While this is obviously not the resort's fault, it has limited the space along the beach. Many of the palapas are gone, and more and more of the nicer loungers are being moved to interior parts of the resort. As a result, we ended up sitting by one of the pools this year, rather than sitting along the beach. This worked out fine; it was just a change from our normal routine. All in all, this is a special place that we truly value. Finally, did anyone else notice the Mahekal reference in Apple+'s Dark Matter?
