Mahekal Beach Resort is a perfect jungle/beach oasis in the middle of downtown Playa Del Carmen. The property was so special and clean and the staff so kind and helpful. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our anniversary trip. I adored the individual bungalows that are throughout the property instead of the over built hotel type structures that you usually see at all inclusive resorts. The couples hammocks provided on each deck are a added relaxation bonus. The set up of the property with the bungalows, pools, beaches, gardens, restaurants and everything else spread out over the property creates a feeling of privacy and zen. It never felt over crowded. The food was great and I loved the variety of options at the buffets and the speciality cuisines each night for dinner. Another bonus was that the drinks were not the traditional cheap mix cocktails that are so typical at all inclusives. They were made with real juice and fresh additions.

I have been trying to contact the hotel to speak to someone about the security deposit refund I am owed. I have sent emails, whatsapp messages, made telephone calls, and there has been no response, or interest in not only replying, or resolving! This is definitely NOT a luxurious resort. Do not let the pricing fool you. Without exception there is NO high class hotel or resort I have ever stayed at that have treated clients this way. I am expecting full resolution and look to Mahekal to step up and reply to this message and refund my money, in order to redeem their name and brand.

Beautiful well kept property with lush vegetation. Two restaurants on property with a wide variety of food to pick from. Staff is very friendly, polite and always have a smile on their face. They greeted us every time no matter how often they saw us. Unfortunately I was not able to give them a 5 out of 5 because there was an issue with room service and towel service. I tried ordering room service one evening at 8:30pm but there was no answer at room service or the front desk and I also tried calling the front desk from my cell phone and there was no answer. There was also an issue in that they took the dirty towels and did not replace them with clean ones. I had to wait 30 minutes to receive a full set of towels. This hotel is not a ritzy property. It is quaint, quiet and beautifully kept perfect for relaxing and disconnecting. Great resort for honeymooners as there are no TVs in the rooms.

We just returned from 10 days at Mahekal. Wow! It is a gem. Low key beachy palapa vibes, with top notch service. Close to everything, yet its own world. Truly magical. Special thanks to Daniel for everything he did to make our stay perfect. The entire Mahekal staff is doing it right and we cannot wait to book our next stay!

Fabulous place to stay with many activities. The restaurant on site was delicious for dinner. Spent 3 nights and included breakfast and dinner. I took the yoga class at 5pm on Thursday in front of their spa on the lawn. It was great.
