Disappointed at Dreams Sapphire resort @ Spa

Tomas S on Jan 17, 2026

We visited Dreams Dec, 27, 2025 to Jan, 7, 2026.We are both seniors. Last 40 years we always visited Caribbean countries. We visited Maya Riviera over 20 times. This supposed to be a real treat vacation, so we paid over $ 8000 for 11 days including air fare from Raleigh NC, USA. A few years back we were also at Dreams, another location. That is before Hyatt Hotels chain bought the Dreams hotels. The customer service this time was again excellent, room keeping, bar service, concierge service. But..., we arrived Dec 27, and for supper we were served Christmas leftovers! That happened after the New Year, leftovers. I talked to 4 different waiters, and they all confirmed, that those were leftovers. I paid honest money, I expects good value for my money in return. Specialty restaurants don't take reservations, but to get in, we waited at least an hour. French restaurant we waited 11/2 hours to get in, and two hours later we still did not receive our main meal, even though I complained to the manager of the restaurant. Do not order any steaks, even the French restaurant serves though rib eye steaks. We walked out, and ate at the buffet. A la carte restaurants have a fancy menu, the amount and quality of food is low. The only good restaurant is the Blue Water and the best is to eat at the buffet. You can come late after 9 pm, the buffet is half empty , but the food is freshly replenished. No pool or beach chairs after 8 am available! You must get up very early to reserve your chair, or forget to look for one. Towel service is excellent. You can leave your towel behind, staff collects them all. But do not forget to take two fresh towels to your room, you will need them to reserve the chairs before 7 am the next morning! Gardens are in a poor state, Dreams hires contractors for maintenance of gardens, too cheap to keep own gardeners and it reflects. The hotel is showing it's age and neglect. It is definitely not a 5 star. All balconies on our side of the building #1200 never had night lights turned "on" on the balcony, which should happened between 7pm-11pm. I asked 5 times at the front desk and the concierge about it, promises were made, during our stay nothing happened. no night lights. Tennis courts are nice. Kayaks are not free, you pay $7 to use one. It is a non-smoking hotel. You must sign an agreement, that you will not smoke, but people are people, they still smoke on the balcony, on the grounds, and even on the beach. Spas are very nice. Expect even in the spa constant upselling. Little secret we discovered. Worth your dollar! We stayed i the economy garden view room. Any upgraded rooms were over $300 more a night, BUT! Last three days we bought for $ 65 a day access to VIP pool, restaurant and 2 bars, indoor and by the pool with specialty drinks. At the main pool you can rent a canopy for $ 150 a day, wow! By purchasing VIP upgrade we enjoyed an adult pool only, very quiet, excellent service and a canopy free with two extra lawn chairs! We stayed in the same room, and all this with $ 65 a day upgrade for both of us, instead of paying at lot more to change the room to VIP section. Concierge will only change your VIP upgrade starting from your day of departure backwards.

Decent stay

Anupa T on Jan 16, 2026

stayed at Dreams Sapphire in Puerto Morelos. The resort is nice and well maintained, with a good pool area. The beach was clean, but there is seaweed (sargassum) piled along the shoreline which limits swimming and makes water shoes useful. Rooms were spacious but a bit dated. Food was hit or miss, some meals were good, others were repetitive. Service was friendly but inconsistent, especially during busy times. Overall, a decent all-inclusive resort.

Dreams Sapphire Jan 9-15, 2025

My husband and I stayed at Dreams Sapphire from Jan 9-15, 2026. We had a king bed with a tropical view in building 13. Our room was not ready right away, we were able to use all the resorts facilities. When it comes to food and drinks, there's plenty of variety. Coco Cafe services coffee and pastries. Various bars such as Sugar Reef, Barracuda, Scores Sports bar to name a few. We ate at Bordeaux (French) twice. Our waiters Jose and Eleuteric were wonderful. Two nights we ate at Porofino and our waiter Jose who provided wonderful service. As for the beach, it's important to understand that sargassum levels change daily with the tide. This is a nature ocean occurence and the resort has no control over this. Each day they are out there cleaning the beach. The pools are not heated and the chair game is real. If you don't have a chair by 8:30 , you may have a hard time finding one. Activities-they have everything from tennis, volleyball, water slides, yoga, bingo, bocci ball, bike tours and more. You can do as little or as much as you like. They have a separate area for families with small children.

Nice stay

Nice stay however check in staff did not accommodate request on having rooms nearby or in same building for multiple room booking. Very disappointed as my husband and other family members had to stay in a different building.

Great Vacation

A D on Jan 15, 2026

I stayed here for a week with my sister and we had the best time! Rooms were clean, food was great, and staff were soooo lovely and accommodating. From my own personal experience, I say skip the specialty restaurants. I didn’t try the hibachi restaurant so I can’t speak on that, but I found the service (although very friendly) to be slow and the food wasn’t spectacular. My sister and I much preferred the buffet. The buffet changed every night and we found most things we tried to be delicious. One more negative - don’t buy gifts from vendors (sorry) or the gift store on the resort.. the prices are insane. This includes toiletries as well.. makeup remover wipes were almost $30USD. We found the same knick-knacks, jewelry, and magnets at the Cancún airport for 1/2 the price. It was disappointing. Other than that, I would 100% go back to this resort. The Cafe and the Juice Bar were something I haven’t experienced in an all inclusive resort before and it really made our experience. Grabbing towels didn’t require a card or have a lost towel fee which I also really appreciated. If you can, visit the Spa. My sister and I did the Hydrotherapy & Relaxation Massage and it was incredible. Isaac guided us through the Hydrotherapy experience and he was so friendly, funny, and professional. My massage was done by Jovita (I hope I spelled her name correctly) and she was amazing. I hope to come back very soon!!!
