Stunning Fairmont Empress
NobbyR59 (Aberdeen, United Kingdom) on Jun 14, 2025
My wife and I stayed at the Empress for two nights as part of our west coast Canada and Rockies holiday arranged through Trailfinders. As a special treat we stayed Gold level and this was above and beyond our expectations. Beautiful lounge with delicious snacks, treats and drinks with a truly outstanding breakfast selection. Very comfortable and clean room with exceptionally comfortable bed. Staff were very polite and accommodating. All in all a memorable experience.
very small room

For the price we paid (including a surcharge on one night because we unknowlingly booked right before a Canadian holiday) we had hoped for something larger and maybe even breakfast. (The front desk told us that if we wanted an upgrade we should have come in February or March.) The bathroom was tiny -- on a par with airplane restrooms: no counter space to speak of. The tub had no safety features like a non-skid mat and a grab bar. And the thermostat seemed to have a mind of its own. The Georgia in Vancouver was infinitely better; the Fairmont in Seattle was a bit bigger and included breakfast.
