Construction at the Hilton
Roe5 (Howard Beach, NY) on Oct 29, 2024
I would not go there until construction was completed. It wasn’t the noise that wasn’t terrible but only two small pools were open. One restaurant Laguna was opened. We only went once for breakfast $30 a person plus service charge came to $74 for two people and it was just okay. Omelette was dry sausage was very well done . No other restaurants were open. One bar. The beach area was beautiful! I think a lot of people are staying away from this hotel until construction is done. Very few people there. Construction was even in front of hotel. I know that’s not the Hilton fault but it was an inconvenience.
Our favorite vacation spot

Our second time at the Hilton in Aruba and cannot recommend this hotel enough. From perfect location to the staff that goes ABOVE AND BEYOND. They don’t just do their job, they really do exceed your expectations when it comes to service. We are always greeted by name with big smiles and even hugs. Special shout out to Jamuel on the beach who is going to take care of you like family, Jantje by the pool who we got to know and love, Steve making kick-a$$ drinks and great conversation, Carlos who was always ready to accommodate us with whatever we needed, and all of the wonderful ladies that were running the food truck until renovations are complete. This is a top notch staff and they do it all with a smile. Thank YOU guys for making our vacation(s) an unforgettable one. It’s because of them, we are able to enjoy, relax, and have the most incredible stay. And that’s not all! Food is great, beach is well maintained and everything you would want, rooms are clean and spacious, and again, everyone is just the friendliest from the moment you step foot on their property. I simply cannot say enough great things and I hope all of these employees are recognized for their hard work because they truly deserve the best! Thank you x a million! Cannot wait to be back!!! ??
Avoid until construction is over

There is a LOT of construction going on. Please avoid the property until that’s over. Pool (one of them) is closed. Restaurant option is very limited. Had a horrible check in where they tried to offer us a different room than our confirmation showed. Finally they agreed on the room. The guy on the front desk was not helpful with anything. When I mentioned that I wasn’t aware of the construction he basically smirked and said that it’s on the third party through which we booked to inform us that. Even if that’s the case there’s a way to communicate this. Was on the phone with the third party I booked through for an hour trying to get this cancelled. The only helpful person was Rosita (property manager) who guaranteed there will be a refund if I cancel because of the construction. This could have been avoided if the front desk guy mentioned this as soon as we expressed dissatisfaction with construction early on. Took a stroll around the property and it’s a nice place but the amount of construction (both visually and the noise) is just a lot right now. Maybe if they offered 50% off it’s worth it. But they’re charging the same rates as other properties. PLEASE AVOID.
almost fantastic

Everything you need…. excellent customer service. bar prices were a little outrageous but i suppose that keeps people from getting out of hand. $18 for a mixed drink is still a bit steep. rooms were very clean comfortable and spacious. housekeeping was attentive and never in the way. i was very impressed by Denko who takes care of the birds on the property. he does an amazing job looking after these gorgeous animals. Hilton you need to take care of this man! Liliana at breakfast was great and took care of us like family. Christian on bell service was great as well. the construction is fairly intrusive but people make the best of it (est completion by dec 2024). i wouldn’t visit again until it’s finished. the beach is fantastic except for the eyesore of an oil platform that’s anchored 3 miles offshore. it’s hard to look at the ocean and see anything else. noticed it pumping something into the ocean continuously. not that the resort has any say in that but it is a consideration.
Major Construction, look elsewhere

A couple things to note before you book: -Very large scale construction. In addition to the intrusive noise during the day while you’re on the beach, it effectively closes off 1/3 of the resort and there’s only a small pool left for use. (One other pool is randomly closed for no reason and I write this review while construction is blaring in my ears) Hilton has the absolute GALL to charge you more for a room that won’t be staring at, or effected by the construction noise. The road outside of the resort is totally ripped up and inaccessible. This isn’t on Hilton, but is a hindrance when trying to walk around the shopping road right across the street. Lobby is nice enough, but the rooms are dated. For example, I am in a junior suite and one side of the bed has zero outlets in the nightstand or wall behind it. I don’t know how this could possibly be considered acceptable in this day and age. There is also no bath tub if that’s your thing. All in all, anything I could say really pales in comparison to the ongoing construction which cuts the size of the resort down immensely and limits the amenities while also being EXTREMELY disruptive to anyone wanting to relax during the day. There’s no financial consideration for this crazy imposition, so I’d absolutely look elsewhere when booking. Sorry for any grammatical mistakes. I’m writing this review with large scale construction blaring all around me.
