July at Alaia

We totally enjoyed our week at Alaia. Such a beautiful property and even more beautiful people. Shout outs to Mr. Eric, Blanca, Eleysi and more. Stephanie as the front desk manager also took care of us. We loved the Belizean eggs for breakfast!

Skip this Marriott, stay anywhere else..

I recently stayed at Alaia Belize (July 6–11), using points I’ve saved as a Gold Elite member. This trip was incredibly special, as I brought my mom, who used to visit Belize as a child, to make new memories together. I come to Belize every year to scuba dive and explore, and I usually stay at locally owned hotels, where the hospitality is always warm and genuine. This was my first time staying at a major resort here and sadly, it was the most disappointing experience I’ve had on the island. • We had a confirmed 1:30pm check-in, but didn’t receive our room until well after 4pm (photo attached). • The Gold Elite welcome gift was never provided. • The WiFi, TV, and phone didn’t work upon arrival. A technician had to come in and fix it (photo attached). • The air conditioning broke several times, leaving us to sleep in the heat for two nights. The staff was so rude the first incident we just dealt with it. The thermostat read “Call for Service” (photo attached). • The room had bugs crawling across the nightstands and desk (video attached). • The elevator was frequently out of service, which made it hard for my mom to get around. • When I reached out to the front desk, the first time kindly the reply I received was: “Goodnight.” (screenshot attached) What made it worse was the dismissive attitude, not just the issues themselves. We never asked for compensation or extras just basic hospitality and working amenities. That said, I want to give huge praise to Eric, the greeter/luggage attendant. His warm personality, hug, and smile truly stood out. He was the best part of this resort experience and deserves recognition. Despite the hotel, we didn’t let it ruin our trip. We absolutely love Belize, and always will. The island, the diving, and the people here are amazing we just recommend staying somewhere local where you’re treated with care and genuine kindness.

Alaia Is It!

Exceeded all expectations! Entire resort staff provided excellent customer service. The restaurants on site food was good and tasty, the rooms are aesthetically pleasing (love the decor). Had a corner room with wraparound balcony and the views from all angles were amazing. All the pool areas are nice and the rooftop bar with the see through pool is so cool.

Memorable Experience At The Alaia

Ronin617 (Boston, Massachusetts) on Jul 01, 2025

For my birthday this year, my wife and I decided to go to Belize and after some research we chose the Alaia Belize. This property was less than a 15 minute Golf cart ride from the local airport. As soon as we arrived we received cold towels and drinks and a nice experience at check-in with Blanca. In fact, Blanca was pleasant everytime we interacted with her and was wonderful throughout the whole experience. Elvis helped us with our luggage to our room and helped us get acquainted with the resort and the amenities. The room itself was very spacious and the bathroom and layout were very Spa-like. There was more than enough room for my wife and I to spread out and enjoy the island. The shower was big and the bed had a medium firmness to it which was great for sleeping. We didn't expect to have a full sized refrigerator but once we saw it, I immediately made plans to head to the closest supermarket to stock up on drinks and snacks for the week. The main pool was nice and central to the property, and we rarely visited the rooftop pool. At night both pools lit up nicely and provided great ambience for those around the area. We could not do the beach due to sargassum and the sea wall, so we visited Caye Caulker to make it a true beach vacation. For amenities on the property, I did use the gym a lot and I did receive the best massage on my birthday. We rarely ate at the property, but as a Jamaican, I have to say that the jerk chicken served at the bar was excellent! I think I had that same meal three times and I am never one to repeat going to a restaurant when on a vacation. Speaking of the bar, the employees that kept up the vibes there were the stars of the show for me. Blanca a.k.a. OG Blanca, Henry, Chris, Shakira aka Selena, and Ernestina aka Tina were absolutely perfect ambassadors of Belize and Alaia. On my birthday, they got me a shot of tequila and a tres leches cake which I almost wanted to eat by myself! Martin, part of the pool team, also helped me with suggestions related to Caye Caulker and was very kind as well. Even the security and I exchanged smiles and fist bumps every so often. Overall, we had an amazing time at the ALaia and would recommend it for anyone traveling to San Pedro. Be sure to check out prices for the best golf cart and most importantly: Go slow!
