Excellent property, exceptional service!

Everything from the rooms to the restaurants to the pool were excellent and the friendly staff was exceptional. My new friend Eric who worked as a bell hop set the tone right from the start. Not only did he provide exceptional service but he and the rest of the staff did so in a personable and friendly way. Fantastic overall experience for me and my wife, my teenage daughters and my parents!
Amazing hotel with truly exceptional staff

I travel a lot, and I’ve honestly never felt compelled to write a hotel review — but the staff at Alaia were truly exceptional. They went out of their way every single day to make our week in Belize special and memorable. I’ve never had so many staff members remember my name! My husband and I stayed for a week in November and became friendly with many of the team members, including: Benny — We loved seeing him via room service. He gave us great local recommendations, remembered small details, and was just generally wonderful to talk to. Hezron — He went above and beyond to help us secure a Thanksgiving dinner reservation at a time that worked for us. We had a 5am dive that morning and were exhausted, and even though the only time left was 8:30pm, he found a way to fit us in at 7:30. Truly appreciated. Licia — We saw her every morning at breakfast, and she started our day on such a positive note. Always cheerful, always kind. Shanir — Patient, helpful, and very easy to talk to. He answered our many (many!) questions with humor and grace. Moises at The Deck and Elvis in the lobby were also incredibly kind and helpful, and checked in on us throughout our stay. The hospitality here really stood out. We were genuinely sad to say goodbye — and we will 100% be staying at Alaia again the next time we’re in Belize. Thank you to the entire Alaia team for an amazing week. ??
Alaia Belize is Top Notch!

Alaia San Pedro was an amazing experience! The entire staff, from arrival to departure, was friendly and welcoming. The front desk staff is very responsive and willing to assist their guests. The outdoor spaces are beautifully designed and decorated. The heated pool, rooftop bar and great views were enjoyed by our entire group. The food was chef’s kiss! Fresh and tasty options are easy to find. An added bonus was the young man issuing the fresh juices. He is very knowledgeable about what fruit and vegetable combinations work together to give your body a healthy boost. My husband, sister and I reserved an 2 bedroom Oceanfront Reef house. The one we were initially placed in had dated appliances and needed extra cleaning. Upon speaking with the front desk manager, we were moved to a very clean and modern space. I was very grateful to be moved to a more comfortable residence. Visiting the hotel rooms left us WOWED! Large balcony spaces and beautiful clean interiors are standard. We loved it! I will definitely return to Alaia San Pedro!
Un-Belize-Able....not in a good way

Pros: (1) Staff is excellent. Everyone from the front desk, the restaurant, the bar, and housekeeping were exceptional. (2) On-site snorkel and dive shop made booking excursions (which were necessary...more on that below) easy. The experiences were affordable and professional. Cons: (1) NOT A BEACH. If your vacation ideas involve putting your toes in the sand or leisurely walking through gently lapping waves, go somewhere else. The "beach" is extended sea wall concrete with sand sprinkled on top. This explained why everyone was at the pool and not the beach. Further explaining the absence of guests on the "beach".... (2) The water was brown and looked of sewage. Taking a boat out is the only way to guarantee yourself a true water experience. Not only was the water quality questionable, but there was so much significant dredging that a lot of the beachfront adjacent to the hotel was taken up with protruding tubes and pipes. (3) Construction noise near the dive shop/ villas was obtrusive. It wasn't constant, but we also weren't warned about it, which dinged this hotel for hospitality. (4) Good God, the mosquitoes. They congregated on exterior hotel doors and hallways, so trying to get into your room without letting in a dozen bloodsuckers was a fool's errand. (5) Walking into town is an exercise in getting asphyxiated by gasoline fumes from the constant loud golf carts that populate the island. And when you're not breathing in gas fumes, you get to enjoy the smell of diarrhea because that's what rotting sargassum smells like on the beach. Just ask fancy Victoria House down the street. They charge more than Alaia but smells like a sewage treatment plant. I wish someone had written this kind of honest review before I went. If this is your cup of tea, go for it. Have a blast! But if you want to dig your feet into the sand and smell salt air instead of what I've described above, save your time and money. Go somewhere else.
