Disappointing Stay – Wait Until After Renovations My recent stay at the Royalton was very disappointing, starting with a frustrating check-in experience and continuing throughout the trip. The hotel is closing in August for renovations, and it shows—many staff members have already been reassigned, and service quality has clearly declined. The buffet was consistently missing basic items like butter, and overall food options were limited. While some staff were kind and tried their best, the hotel felt understaffed and poorly stocked. I spoke with other guests who said this wasn’t the case a few months ago, so it seems the decline is recent and tied to the upcoming closure. I would not recommend staying here until renovations are complete.

The resort is beautiful but they have a lot of work to do. Drinks are weak and do not taste good. At the diamond club beach bar, I ordered a grey goose martini and it tasted like tequila. They use very cheap alcohol everywhere but the lobby bar and the diamond club beach bar. The food was not good at all. I think there were two meals I liked. The “butlers” were useless. I basically left them alone except to ask them to make us reservations and to ask them for ice and limes and they were never delivered. Good wine is outrageously expensive. If you want to eat after 10 pm good luck as EVERY restaurant is closed and when you try to call for room service no one answers. Lastly, the waitstaff at the bars are not friendly at all and in my opinion are not trained properly how to make a good drink.
