Excellent vacation home rental for family and friends. Most commendable!

Snorkling equipment, beach chairs, etc were all provided by management. The washer/dryer were excellent amenities. The environment was immaculately clean. The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Fairly old room...this owner need to invest in their place! Nice grounds and pool though.

Nice location right off the beach; very nice, well-maintained grounds. I'm actually writing this near the tail end of our stay here, so memory is still fresh. We rented an ocean front condo, and I wasn't sure what unit I was getting. Apparently Aston Papkea is owned by individuals that rent out their condos. Some owners have put in improvements and some I guess haven't. Unfortunately for us it was the latter, I felt. The condo, although oceanfront, was very dated and it seems hardly any upkeep was done over the years. It definitely took away from the whole experience. Overall, I didn't feel like I got the luck of the dice this time when assigned this condo...

Needs some deep cleaning but overall good

We stayed in Papakea D404 for a week. The check-in process was smooth and we were able to get an additional vehicle pass for an extra $5USD/day. We arrived late in the evening, and for after hours check-in, we used the provided phone to call security. They gave us a temporary parking pass and key, and the following morning we were able to do a full check-in at the front desk. There was a $17USD/day facility fee which included the parking for one vehicle, wifi, cable, and local calls. There was plenty of room in our condo for the six of us. Each room had their own bathroom so that was nice. Two of us stayed up in the loft and it was okay. It was nice we had our own bathroom and shower up there, but with the two twin beds and bug evidence, it may have been more suited for kids or even teens. When we first arrived and put our stuff in the room, we noticed bug egg sacs and exoskeletons in the bed. Upon closer examination, it did not appear to be from bed bugs thankfully, but nonetheless, gross. There was an alive silverfish in the bed. There were multiple cockroach carcasses behind the bed as well. There was a yucky stain on the wall and the light switch was dirty. The condo was in a good location and well-stocked with everything we could possibly need. There were shower towels (enough sets for everyone for the week), beach towels, mini cooler, BBQ utensils, lots of big bowls for salad and food storage, kids’ items, and golf equipment. We packed some toilet paper and paper towels from home and were pleasantly surprised to find they provided extras of these items. They also stocked us with dish soap, dishwasher pods, laundry soap, tinfoil, and plastic wrap. The property is non-smoking, which we really appreciated. The dishwasher had issues sealing when we closed it. We didn’t spend much time in the ocean right out front – we opted to drive to the nicer beaches. The putting green was fun and well-maintained. I really liked how we were on the top floor. We saw whales from our balcony. There is a grocery store nearby. We went for dinner at the food trucks one night, which were within walking distance. There are many restaurants and other food places within walking distance – Pizza Paradiso and Papi Ohana’s were our favourite. We had a late evening flight and check out was at 10:00 am. We asked the front desk the day before if they had a hospitality room we could use to shower. They didn’t/don’t have anything like that available and they said the best bet is to reach out to the host for late check out. It was kind of last minute that we thought about this, so we didn’t reach out. There is also a little bring a book/leave book type library in the lobby, which was nice. When we were in the lobby, we overheard a woman telling the front desk staff that a man tried to enter their place on the main floor from oceanside and ran away. She had a photo of him. It seemed like the staff took this complaint seriously and informed security. One of the requirements for checking out was to have an empty fridge. We had some leftover food and drinks and found some other guests who were happy to take. Overall, if Papakea D404 was super deep cleaned, it would have been absolutely fabulous. We enjoyed our stay and would probably come back.

Not a real hotel, buyer beware

jillwanagel on May 24, 2024

This is not a real resort, it's more like a VRBO or Airbnb that is very poorly regulated and has Aston's name on it. The units are owned individually and Aston makes no promises about what unit you will actually get or what it looks like. Ours was unbearably hot with only one noisy window unit for the entire two bedroom unit. The walls were peeling, there was trash in the closet, the furniture and carpets were stained, and we left immediately for a new hotel. I do understand some people get lucky and end up with a remodeled unit, but you have no assurance of where you will end up, and there is no assistance after 5pm. The staff is incredibly but has no power over this scammy situation.

Clean room, well maintained resort

SimonGu314 (Raleigh, North Carolina) on May 18, 2024

The unit we stayed is clean and has all the household appliances. It looks like was renovated 7-8 years ago, so everything is pretty new, very nice.
