Bad room not front desk service …. Attitude too bad.
Anthony I (Ottawa, Canada) on Jan 16, 2026
First night terrible service from sunscape I am currently at the Sunscape room 704 we have come to this hotel for over 20 years Today i got a room with a partial view, requested a change and they said no Go to my room air conditioner not working, got maintenance air conditioner burned out asked to change us to a new room , no response In the outdoor dining area made changes that will make you wait in line for 40 minutes for a buffet, Ridiculous never has this hotel done this in the past, The indoor buffet area is so hot as well as the Mexican restaurant make it very uncomfortable to eat. No chairs around pool, as i have a bad back cannot get a chair. Requested manager call me …. No call back no room change DONT COME here ……. Want a simple vacation not worrying about room wait times to eat , chairs for people who can’t lie down. Please please manager reply .
Full transparency!!!

Overall, for the difference in price from our favourite resort EVER, the Marival, I would give this place 4 stars, solely because of the massive price difference, but I have to stick to 3 stars because I don’t know if the person reading this is getting a good deal like we did ($9300 for ten days 2 adults 3 kids). However, I will go into detail with this review to help others understand what that price difference gets you. To start, I would like to commend the employees: Oscar, the manager of restaurants, for his incredible service and help in making our stay better than it started. Karla, at the front desk, for helping rectify our issues at the beginning, and Linette, the entertainment leader, for her bright, incredible personality that drew everybody in and made everyone from children to seniors have a great time. So, the cons: for 5 people, we were booked an “ocean view suite”. This is not a suite. This is a regular room with 5 people living on top of eachother. It’s BS. They say it’s a sofa bed, no it’s not. It’s a regular couch that a child can get by sleeping on, but it’s unacceptable to say this is a suite for 5 people. We are very lucky 2 of our 3 kids are young and small enough to share a bed, and our teenager begrudgingly slept on a REGULAR COUCH. It also squeaked. There is no stage for nightly entertainment, and the entertainment brought in, compared to other hotels, was mediocre. The magic show was FANTASTIC, everything else was “meh”. Next, the food. Food is a big one. The buffet is not nearly big enough or have any variety, or a quality of food for people that aren’t literally from Mexico. If you have picky children, DONT go here, or “simply” eat out for dinner. Breakfast and lunch was fine. However, because the buffet is so small, they don’t keep on top of the food supply quickly enough for how many people need to come through. The taco place is an oven, so if you want to feel like you yourself are cooking while you eat, enjoy, or suffer at the buffet or eat out. Mario’s is great, too small of portions, but delicious. It’s annoying we couldn’t go in the restaurant because our well behaved son that doesn’t eat anyways couldn’t go inside, being 6 years old. You have to be 8. So they allowed us to order from Mario’s over to the buffet, where again, it’s too small to seat the amount of people coming through. The positives: The staff is wonderful, from housekeepers to bar tenders, to servers and entertainment. The premises is kept clean constantly. Bathrooms are kept up. Pool has seen better days but still wonderful and full of chlorine. The location is fantastic, we felt safe popping out to shop at the outdoor mall RIGHT NEXT DOOR!!! To going across the street to try restaurants (because of the buffet) at night. The activities were fun and all throughout the day. Because it’s a smaller resort, felt safe with my kids going to get food and such on their own and it feels like a community being smaller, people actually remember you. And by far the best pro, is the kids Waterpark. It is, by far, the absolute best Waterpark I have ever seen at a resort in Mexico. My 6 year old spent a lot of time making friends and going on all the waterslides for ten days straight. My 11 year old also really enjoyed this Waterpark, it was clearly a hit for any child. My son wasn’t a fan of waterslides before we got here, and he’s addicted now. The photographer, Rocio, was so wonderful and did such an incredible job capturing our family photos. The other man that takes photos was very nice and very funny to interact with around the resort as well. There are ALOT of positives to this resort. But you have to be aware of the negatives going in. Speak up for yourself if you aren’t happy about something for a valid reason, and they will fix it. If you don’t mind popping out for dinners half the time, your family isn’t very picky for eating, and you aren’t sharing a room with more than 4 people in it, you will be just fine and have a wonderful stay.

We had a great time at Sunscape PV! Food was great, staff was very friendly, with special praise to the pool waiter Miguel - who was attentive, friendly, quick service and memorized our drink orders every day. Make sure to reserve your pool chairs early in the am as they fill up quick!

We were worried after reading many negative reviews before we left but we had a great time. We went as a family (kids 2&4) stayed in the family rooms by the explorers club. Such a convenient location kids loved the bunk beds. We loved the coffee shop and explorers club so much. Food was good coffee was great. We were there 4 years ago and enjoyed it then too. Ist in a conviniant location so you can explore off resort too.
Don't do it.

Don't Do it. The Resort was disgusting and very trashy. The food was awful. The room was spacious, but had a horrific smell. The elevators didn't work. The staff was unresponsive via email. I am a travel agent and this is one of the worst resorts I have seen.
