Child activities

We went with family , kids 7 and 9 years old. We absolutely love kids programs there, kids busy all the time ( games , swimming, all the activities, I did like idea to have special phone from Child care, so kids easy can contact parents if need) they love there staff) Gina , Abril, Maricruz, Nayeli) thank you!

Great trip - staff made all the difference!

Solid 4 - great staff! This was our second stay at Sunscape - 2019 and recently May 2024 - one week. Food quality has declined since 2019, but if you have a good breakfast and have your evening meal at the Italian you can’t go wrong. We did eat at the seafood restaurant once, but took an hour for our meal to arrive - oh, well have another cocktail! We notified hotel before arrival to request higher floor to celebrate a milestone birthday and anniversary which the team did for us. Rooms are clean. They are working to maintain building. We enjoyed the balcony with coffee from coco cafe in the morning. Bathroom has been updated, but still needs a little TLC. You can’t go wrong with location. Big shout out to Ricardo and his team at the Italian restaurant - we ended up having dinner there four nights. On our first evening we told them we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and we were treated like gold! Every night we had champagne with a Mexican coffee with dessert. Our room was 819- we paid for partial ocean view and not disappointed. No need to upgrade to sun club at this time of year - lots of palapa. We would return to this property.

Don’t stay here

Hotel is terrible! Dirty, dated, not in good condition, AC don’t work in upgraded rooms and suites, pool is dirty, food is subpar and service is average. Don’t upgrade to sun club or suite, no value at all in it. I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt when I read the reviews… well, everything is true. There are many options in Puerto Vallarta, this is not a good one at all!

Do not recommend!

Unfortunately, this resort is not suitable for tourists. The resort is more of a local getaway. After our honeymoon at an adults-only resort was canceled due to a hurricane, we booked this family resort through Southwest, paying even more for the change. Our experience began with a crowded and hot lobby. Despite informing the staff that it was our honeymoon and inquiring about any special arrangements, we were told we would have to pay extra for anything special. After a wait, we were taken to our room. After a ride on the sketchy elevator that was completely disgusting we made our way to our room which was located directly above the pool. This made it impossible to escape the constant noise of screaming children. Additionally, the room appeared surface-cleaned but had not been deep cleaned, as evidenced by the dirty corners. Moreover, the room temperature never dropped below 75 degrees. Thankfully, my husband speaks some Spanish; otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to address these issues. The front desk initially insisted our room was fine but eventually moved us to a different room, away from the pool. The new room was similar to the first, just with a better view. The AC started at 72 degrees but quickly settled at an uncomfortable 74 degrees, and it leaked continuously. After enduring sleepless nights due to the heat, we contacted Southwest Vacations. They intervened on our behalf, and Sunscape finally moved us to a different building with upgraded amenities. However, using these amenities was a hassle since we weren't immediately added to the list. The rooms in the new building were better, and the AC worked well, although it still leaked over our bed at night. We spent most of our time off the resort to escape the noise, long lines, and cold food. We did not spend anytime at the beach or the pool. Both places were overly crowded and you had to claim spots by 8 am to even get a seat. Not to mention I didn’t even feel comfortable with how dirty everything was. They also need to mop up the wet floors because from the children running around everywhere the floors are extremely wet and slippery. Despite only using bottled water for drinking and brushing our teeth, I still got sick. After every meal at the resort, I felt extremely ill. The dining experience was frustrating, with hostesses estimating wait times of an hour when it only took about 5 minutes to be seated. Our best meal was at Del Mario, where Roberto took excellent care of us, making it one of the few places I felt safe eating. Christian at the concierge was a friendly face throughout our stay and did his best to keep our spirits up. In summary, if you are a tourist expecting to be catered to at an “all-inclusive” resort, this is not the place for you,

Average, could be better

Service was great, people always make a difference however the bars were understaffed so getting a drink took a long wait always. Facilities overall ok, needs more maintenance (particularly the pool and the showers in the bedrooms). Getting water bottles to the room took over 14 hrs, three calls to request, not expected. Food was great in a few restaurants like Marios Italian and the seaside grill, no complains here. The World international restaurant could be better, thought they always had some soups, salad, fruit, dessert selections and some meats dishes. Some days food was great particularly dinners vs lunch. The Tiki Taco Mexican Restaurant needs improvement only a few choices and they weren’t tasty, pls improve this was a disappointment. Please change the towels many of them are already falling apart. Overall I felt the pool was overcrowded and dirty and I didn’t like the beach, way too dirty needs cleaning please & there are crocodiles in the area, hotel is very close to a river. Location was great 15 min drive to the airport, 5 mins drive to the Marina for water, close to a shopping mall and other restaurants within walking distance. Entertainment shows were ok, fire, magic and the live music. Big thanks to the entertainment team by the pool (Angel, Nana and I forgot the other names), you did a great job with the zumba class, aquaerobics, the karaoke and the music. Also big thanks to the staff at the Seaside Grill and the Marios restaurants great service. Check in took a long time, long line, but I was very happy I could get my room early and the process once reach was quick, same for the check out very fast and painless, thanks.
