Good food, poor service, and disorganization

Anahi L on Dec 13, 2025

Overall, I had a good vacation only because I was traveling with my family. Unfortunately, the hotel service itself was extremely disappointing. When we checked in, our room was clearly not prepared. The security box never worked, and the bathroom had no towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, or basic amenities. We contacted guest services and were told someone would come, but no one arrived for over two hours. Only after calling again did they finally bring the basics so we could shower after a long flight. Since the security box still didn’t work, we went to the lobby. With no golf carts available, and drivers not stopping even with empty seats, we had to walk 15–20 minutes. Once there, I politely asked for help with this small issue without standing in the nearly two-hour-long check-in line, but I was treated poorly and ignored. After calling guest services again from the room, someone finally came about 40 minutes later, only to tell us the safe was still registered to the previous guests. We were told to return to the lobby and wait in line again, so we gave up. We never had a working security box and had to carry our valuables everywhere. The next day, our room was not cleaned, but by then we were already exhausted from the constant issues. For a hotel of this category, this level of disorganization and lack of basic preparation is unacceptable. A room should be ready upon arrival, especially after long trips. Unfortunately, the hotel service did not meet even basic expectations. The buffet and restaurant service was also unacceptable. Waiters rarely served water or drinks—not even tea. You often had to get up and get everything yourself. Even after insisting, service was provided with a very unpleasant attitude, no smile, and plates were rarely cleared. Only a few staff members were kind; most appeared stressed and unhappy. In the à la carte restaurants, the situation was the same, and if you wanted an alcoholic drink, you were told to leave the restaurant and go to a bar yourself. That said, the food quality was very good. I travel to all-inclusive resorts every year, and this was one of the best buffets I’ve experienced, with a wide variety of options such as sushi, caviar, and many different dishes. However, three members of my family got very sick, with vomiting and stomach issues, despite never going near tap water. I strongly recommend avoiding anything undercooked. While I enjoyed my time with my family, I would not return and would not recommend this hotel due to the poor service, lack of organization, and unwelcoming atmosphere.

Frequent travelers honest opinion

vsvechin (United States) on Dec 11, 2025

Overall we enjoyed our vacation. However there had been issues. The biggest problem was the amount of guests. Too many. Beach was overcrowded and if you didn’t reserve your lounge chair early around 6 am, you were without a lounge chair for at least after lunch. Some guests, were very aggressive. That took away from pleasant experience. Food was very good both at the buffet and a la cart restaurants. Rooms, even updated wear average. Bed linen of poor quality and rooms smelled of mold. Front desk manager - Francesco, very accommodating and putted all his effort to accommodate our hotel and room requests. Thank you so much. A lot of mosquitoes everywhere. Stuff was friendly. However we believe management could have done better. Half through our stay beach buffer restaurant was flooded, so all the guests had to eat at the main Bahia Principe Grand buffet. As a result it was very crowded there. Bed was not comfortable and linen was not changed for our entire stay. Almost every day plumbing problems. Grounds are beautiful, like botanical garden. A la cart restaurants are very nice, they limit them 3 per week. The best restaurants in our opinion are Rodizeo (Brazilian) and seafood (Fish Market ). Beach is gorgeous and they clean seagrass all day long. Main buffer has a terrible smell and stuff there not very helpful. Overall we enjoyed our vacation.

Travel Professional Experience!

Theresa C on Dec 08, 2025

To the Director, Diego Rivera and extraordinary staff of all the Bahia Resorts in Punta Cana. On behalf of my husband and myself, Theresa Costanza AKA Travel in Style with Terry I want to extend the deepest most grateful ???? Thank you, for the unforgettable nine days we spent in Paradise! From the moment we arrived until our last hugs ?? saying see you soon - we were treated not just as guests - but truly as kings and queens. From a avivd Travel Agent who visits the all inclusive resorts/caribbean 3 to 4 X a year ?? The level of excellence, warmth, professionalism, and genuine care shown by your team is something that goes far beyond five - star ?? service. Every smile ?? every detail, every perfectly prepared meal, every immaculate space, and every kind gesture made us feel valued, celebrated and completely at home. I've been to several Bahia resorts in P.C. before under different management and sure noticed a significant difference. I have 3 separate bookings since we left and I'm honored to send my clients where I can highly recommend! My birthday ?? celebration was Outstanding and one I'll cherish forever! Our memories are PRICELESS!!!! The Director really went next level for me and my husband. I can't wait to give my clients the same in return. Thank you, Theresa Costanza

Inadequate maintenance of rooms - electrical, plumbing. Less than expected quality & variety of food.

TICOTIWARI (Ottawa) on Dec 08, 2025

We have stayed at the other (Esmeralda Luxury) Bahia Principe resort in Punta Cana, which made for a very good experience, however, the most recent stay at the Grand was a let down. While the staff at most locations were very friendly and helpful, the resort lacked in general maintenance (electrical outlets coming apart - potential for electrical shock, shower heads clogged, toilet flush not working properly, loose toilet seat etc.). To make matters worse, the day after we checked in, our daughters 2 bedroom suite had a major leak in the bathroom late in the evening. Because she had a small child and an infant with her, we had to change the room at 9:00pm - not an easy task with 2 young children. Needless to say this made for a very bad experience. As far as the dining was concerned, we noticed that the food in the buffet restaurants wasn't very good nor was there a lot of variety. Generally, the set-up in the buffet restaurants wasn't conducive to a pleasant eating experience. Pool bars not consistent in offering much desired drinks (Mojito's) all the time. We were often told that they were unable (?) to make a Mojito!!
