GREATLY NEEDS HELP

Patrick B (San Mateo, California) on Jul 19, 2024

I just recently came back from my trip here. I can say that our group of 40 were very dissatisfied and disappointed. The hotel does nothing about mosquitoes as there were tons of them. Get ready to get bit. Service at the restaurants and staff in general was bad or felt like they would not want to help. I understand that there is sometimes a language barrier, however I do speak pretty well Spanish and still the same bad service. Rooms are definitely outdated. Will definitely not go back or recommend.

Review for gluten-free meals for celiac guests

GFtraveller1 (Menlo Park, California) on Jul 18, 2024

I am pleased to report that none of us with Celiac got sick during our week at the Grand Palladium Colonial at Akumal. We asked for the food allergy card at check-in, then presented it at every meal. Breakfast We asked for pancakes every morning at all 3 buffets. The recipe was a little hit or miss depending on the day and the chef, from delicious to not eatable. They didn't have bread consistently. None of the cereals were gluten-free (Kellogs with malt). We were surprised with muffins on one morning which were really good and didn't last. Lunch As other reviewers already mentioned, Grand Azul has terrible service and fewer choices. After a bad experience there, we alternated between La Hacienda and La Dalia. We always asked for the chef on duty to give us a tour of what was safe that day. They are proficient with shared oil, cross-contamination and ingredients. Beware that what is safe for one meal (French fries and tortilla chips for example) is not safe at a different time because they were cooked differently. So always talk to the chef first. You are also offered or can request options not displayed, such as gluten-free pasta and pizza, which were pretty good. They also have gluten-free desserts in the kitchen such as flan and cheese cake that is ready for a different meal, but that they can bring you upon request. Dinner We opted for buffets on almost all nights because they had more gluten-free options than the restaurants with reservations. However, we dined at Chang Thai where half the menu is gluten-free. Among all of us we sampled most of the menu, which was pretty good. Buffet tips We used clean dessert spoons to serve ourselves from some dishes on the buffet where utensils had potentially been shared with gluten dishes, and only grabbed untouched food from the back of the tray in that case. When in doubt, we just ate something else. This was especially true for salads and desserts. It seems to have been sufficient as we did not get sick at all. Overall Although the Grand Palladium staff kept us healthy and safe, a lot of the dishes were not flavorful and it got repetitive very quickly. We enjoyed the food at the Iberostar Cozumel much more, with different themes every day and more flavor, and we were not contaminated there either.

Dirty, stinky , no customer service .

TJ P on Jul 18, 2024

We had family reunion had 10-15 rooms and story is same , We Stayed in Room 1927 Dirty Rooms , double reservations , paid taxes at time of checkin still asked for it at time of check out , Bad smell just besides our building , mosquitos all around this place , lizards found in room , try to avoid this resort if you have small kids . Restaurant will not allow reservations to be made for 5 nights stay just had to eat buffet everyday . They just advertise all inclusive but in real that’s not case , sofa bed warn out , refrigerator does not work . Furniture and room layout really outdated . On next trip we would definitely avoid this place Only positive : Martin who help in arranging carts for transportation

Reformer Pilates

H3087MAjamest on Jul 18, 2024

My partner visited Arturo at the Zentropia gym for reformer pilates. As a first timer she was incredibly impressed by the knowledge and patience Arturo had. We highly recommend this activity with Arturo for everyone visiting TRS and hope to have an instructor as good as Arturo back in the UK for this new found hobby.
