One Week was NOT enough!

Oldervisitor (Yorktown, Virginia) on May 16, 2024

We had spent several cruise ship port days here over the years and always wanted to come back for a full week. It was wonderful. The Pure Ocean Restaurant on site was where we ate most of our breakfasts and dinners. The food was excellent and lots of it, lots of variety. We did eat at "Slice" pizza a few times, very good, and some meals at Gizmo's open beach-side restaurant. The wait-staff at all of these were so friendly and welcoming. We had requested ground-floor, beach side, not near a pool and got exactly what we wanted. The beds were comfortable. Housekeeping only came once during our week, but we had plenty of towels, so it was OK. Our regular taxi driver Blake was so punctual, knew his way around, and was interesting to talk to. We spent most of our time on the beach, great chairs & umbrellas, reading, eating, relaxing, excellent snorkeling from the beach. We did go to Pinel Island for a day, nice but snorkeling was not as good there, and we had a great experience at Parrot Ville Bird Sanctuary. Such fun with beautiful birds! Almost every morning we could see a cruise ship heading around toward the port. Checking in and checking out were very easy, and all the staff were kind and helpful. The week went by TOO fast!

Wonderful stay at Divi Little Bay

880paigeb (Charlotte, North Carolina) on May 13, 2024

We just returned from an amazing stay at Divi Little Bay. The staff were the friendliest of any Caribbean island we have been too. Stephan at Seabreeze Bar and Grill and Lou at Gizmos Bar and Grill were outstanding and both made our stay more enjoyable. We ate at all the restaurants except The Mix and all were good. The market onsite was well stocked too. We unfortunately were in need of the night manager and maintenance man when the people upstairs flooded our room when they left the faucet running in the sink and went to sleep! Both guys helped us relocate to another room for the night as it happened at 12:30 in the morning. The next day, our room was cleaned and we moved back - but both the night manager and maintenance guy were very helpful. Our room overlooked Phillipsburg and Great Bay. We could see the cruise ships leaving each day. It was quiet on that side and we preferred our room there. Iguanas didn't bother us at all. We attended the Divi timeshare presentation and there was no pressure at all - We enjoyed learning about Divi resorts and timeshare- we just weren't in the market to purchase more than what we have at RCI. We enjoyed the SPA while at the resort and had an 80 minute massage. Very good. Also the Fort Amsterdam Cafe was delicious and the ladies there were very nice as well. I bought some souvenirs at the on-site shops and they were well stocked also. The beaches are clean at DIVI and the chairs and umbrellas are plentiful. They have three good sized pools and a swim up bar. Snorkeling was good around the rocks and there is also a sunken helicopter and submarine that you can get to. The underwater sculpture garden was amazing--we only heard about this feature from another guest. The resort doesn't advertise that it is there. You can swim to it easily from the beach but they want to charge $65 pp to take you there by boat. We would definitely go back to the Divi Little Bay! P.S. Don't miss the Monday Managers Party - it was fun!

Everything was sticky

Juliette B on May 10, 2024

Two stars, because the staff was really wonderful and sweet. I stayed in a resort studio in one of the older buildings and it was filthy and run down. As I opened the door I was met by the smell of milldew. When I took of my shoes I noticed the floor was sticky. Lots of broken and rusted items in the room. Couldn't use the shower until I had a demonstration on how it worked. Every surface covered in stickiness. After 2 days they came to clean, but forgot part of the bathroom. Room remained damp even after leaving the exhaust fan on for house. Dead cockroach in the main hallway wasn't cleaned up until two days later. Restaurant food was greasy and gross. Important historical fortress on the grounds abandoned, neglected and dumped on by the hotel owners. No respect for the heritage of the St. Maarten people (and yes, the hotel owns it and as it is a designated monument has the responsibility to care for it). All in all, I recommend against staying at Divi Resort.

Water is Divine and rooms are lovely with a view in St. Martin

tracys1202018 (Newton, Massachusetts) on May 08, 2024

I want to applaud Colin King and Elvis ( do not have his last name ) . Both men work at the front desk and went above and beyond to help us straighten out our reservation both when we arrived and for the night before we left. I also want to give a shout out to the most magical water to swim right there in Divi Little Bay. I am one of those people who flinch if it is a bit cold. The water was just delightful. We are Timeshare Owners at Aruba Dutch Village and traded two weeks to stay in St Martin. The room was very nice. Elvis arranged for us to have a room with a bigger kitchen as we ate some meals in the room. We needed a room with a deck with a full covering and Elvis switched our original room to accommodate my husband who ironically can not be in the direct sun. With some covered cabanas and a full deck with a covering- and a gorgeous view- my husband was able to enjoy the vacation with being mindful of his fragile health and sun restrictions. It is also easy to walk into Phillipsburg - during the day- or to take a taxi. We drove into Simpson Bay as well as drove around the island up to Grand Case. You do need internet to use your GPS to get around the island. You can use American dollars anywhere. We had a bit of stomach trouble with the tap water at the DIVI so I recommend bottled water. Shout out to Holland House restaurant in Phillipsburg. One sad note- garbage is dumped around the island by locals. The resorts, including the DIVI, are not affected. But sadly areas in and around Phillipsburg had random garbage which was upsetting to see. Enjoy your vacation!

Hotel can use some work

kl0ucks on May 03, 2024

Currently finishing up our week long, all inclusive stay at Divi Little Bay and the grounds of the hotel are well kept for the most part, but the rooms and service really could use some work. Food: 3.5/5 Service: 1/5 —- my husband and I sat at Gizmos for 10-15 minutes with no one waiting on us. There were times we got up and left, as no one seemed to care that we were waiting to put in an order for food. The best bartender this hotel has is Sandy at Pureocean pool bar, who was great every time we went. Shout out to him for the great service. A lot of the restaurants weren’t open when they were “supposed to be” based on schedule. Rooms: 3/5 - rooms weren’t super clean and could use some updating. We stayed in a studio suite and there was still some minor trash left behind from previous guest (bottle caps, etc). Rooms are cleaned every other day if you don’t stay in new Oceans building. Hallways leading to the rooms are outdoor and pretty dirty. Studio suites are also pretty far from main area where pools/bars are. Resort grounds: 4/5 - The beach and pools were clean so this is a plus. You only can get beach towels 9-5 each day. No one will take them beforehand even if they’re at the front desk. This system could be better… Overall, we loved the island of St Maarten but I don’t know if I’d come back to this resort in particular.
