Stayed 3 nights/4 days. Here are my pro’s and con’s of my stay. SPOILER ALERT: I have a long(ish) list of cons, BUT they are minor. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely go back. PROS: - my ocean-view room on the 4th floor (room 4709) was nicely updated with a clean, modern, Scandinavian feel. Big terrace too. - the beach. Crystal clear water. Don’t be put off by some of the photos as you will see a rocky entrance into the water BUT it’s flat to walk on and gives way to pure sand. Plus, a bit farther down the beach you don’t have rock at all. Once you are about 20 ft from the shore you are standing on pure sand. - the pools were nice and refreshing and super clean. I was able to order drinks from the pool bar, even though it’s not a true swim up bar from the deeper pool. - staff were all very kind - couldn’t beat the price! - drinks were all really good - no drink or food shortages (that I experienced) - really good buffet dessert bar imo - very easy to get courtesy room after checkout for a quick shower before flight. - resort doesn’t require tonnes of walking CONS: - AC in my room worked well but had a musty smell. - my room was nicely updated, but the bathroom was not updated at all. - The International A la carte restaurant was disappointing. - The food at the buffet was good, but just not as good as 2 years ago and guests were saying that food wasn’t as good as last year too. That being said, for Cuban resorts the buffet food was very good at this resort. - lineups for omelettes at buffet were about 20 mins, and I often gave up. Resort wasn’t at full capacity either. - They were doing some construction at the resort. The entire 3rd floor was closed for renos, and some pool cabanas were closed while they rebuilt them. You could hear saws going from time to time but honestly the inconveniences were very minimal and didn’t affect my stay. - quite hard to find a seat with shade at the pool

Kindest staff ever!! All parts of the hotel staff was phenomenal. Our favourite staff was Ayalen in the main restaurant, the chefs in the Sakura restaurant & our room cleaning lady Mayelin <3 We spent over a week in Melia Varadero was feeling a little poorly so just made use of the hotel and its amenities. The Varadero beach is genuinely beautiful, for sure make the most of it! Only downside the food may not cater for everyone as the selection isn’t too grand. However with the options to book the other restaurants you should definitely do that. And the hotel is definitely beautiful. Currently there’s ongoing works on the 3rd floor so a little noisy but at respectful times.

My husband and I just got back from our week long vacation at Melia Varadero. The hotel is very well kept, always clean. The grounds are beautiful. We asked for an ocean view room, and got an amazing room with a huge balcony from which we could see the ocean and the pool area. The room was modern and clean , with comfortable mattress and pillows. The housekeeping team was fantastic, and we had clean towels and cute little towel designs everyday. Considering the food shortage’s Cuba has been experiencing , there was plenty of food. I’ve been to Cuba a few times and this was the best dinner and breakfast buffet I’ve experienced. For breakfast there was always plenty of fruit , pastries, bread , smoothies etc. at dinner there was a variety of meats and fish, along with an extensive dessert table. The wine to my surprise was also really good. During our stay we only had the chance to try the Japanese a la carte restaurant and it was really good too. The service is mostly good with the exception of a few workers, but oh well. The lobby bar is fantastic, good drinks ,including espresso martinis and great pina coladas. Overall it was a great stay and we would return to this resort.

It was a wonderful experience, several days of pure enjoyment. I want to highlight the overall service throughout the hotel; it's very good and professional. Don't pass up the opportunity to stay in the "The Level" category. Boris Nieves and his team do a spectacular job. I can't fail to mention the "The Level" lounge. They have a very good team of professionals where you can enjoy delicious snacks and coffee. Overall, the hotel is very good. I recommend it 100%!

I recommended i can come back, Staff albo place are the Best! Also beach, pool, variety of drink bars for 24 hours, once again - Staff, activities, ocean, safe and temperature
