They need increased the food quality and liquor variety, the criollo restaurant offers is completely poor and low quality food. The costumer services was good but they need more training to how pay attention and attendant to the guest

Awesome time!

My boyfriend and I had a great time at the Melia Varadero! Staff was very friendly, resort was clean. I forget the names of the workers, but we ate at the TexMex restaurant and our waitress was amazing. The chef is very talented and we had great service. Our waitress made our experience very memorable. The only negative point about our trip was the food (orher than at the TexMex restorant). We are not picky eaters and could barely find anything that looked appetizing. I have been to Cuba at least 8 times and this hotel was beautiful but the food was by far the worst I’ve had. Another suggestion would be to have more activities during the day (ie. beach volleyball, water aerobics, etc.) The location of the hotel was great since there is a pharmacy near by and a doctors office less than 100 meters away. I needed antibiotics during the trip and it was a very easy process. Overall I am very happy with my stay but PLEASE if anyone from Melia Varadero is reading this, PLEASE get better food.

Stay away for your own good

Where to start is the question, I do not know how the people giving 4 or 5 stars eat nor where or in what kind of homes they live in but this is not near a 5 star hotel. Tickets for towels and if you lose or get onw stollen because others got theirs lost or stollen is a scam, I got one stollen and they sent me from the towel delivery shack to the reception to a manager called Barbara which denied me a new towel specifying that none were left to spare no towels left, I went back to the shack and asked again they finally gave me one back, ridiculous is the most polite word I could find. They don't care it's them doing you a favor and not the other way around and it shows all along. A few waiters are there for the clients but you could count them on one hand, Dezenaide is one of them, it showed that he has the well being of the clients at heart. Rooms are old, air conditionning sounded like the airplane in which I took on the way to Cuba. I've been to Cuba about 20 times in the passed and this is by far one of my worst experience ever. Food was always the same, beans and rice were good but it's hard to eat rice and beans for 9 days in a row. The waiting lines to get food at buffet is terrible on top of that you have a manager that finds the way to ask chef if his wife could get a plate without waiting, all that with us waiting 15-20min in line, so again they don't care and the fact that managers ask to skip the line (jeremie or jerome) bald guy shows you that they can't wait like the clients that pay money to be there. I've worked in 5 star hotels for almost 30 years and never seen managers get food or drinks in front of clients and before clients, espescially when there are waiting lines and the chef with coloured work clothes just does this managers plate in front of all of us without thinking. This is not a hotel for people that have mobility problems or close to having problems moving, not my case but I have to point it out to help out those who would be thinking of booking here, the beach has accessibility restraints, it has slippery rocks for at least 50 meters long, so unless you want to stay at the pool the whole time, choose another place. This made me realize that I am not poor enough to end up in cheap places like this one, part of it is my fault I should've never believed the reviews nor the 5 star rating this hotel seems to have fished I don't know where. Melia's are over for me.

A Luxurious, Peaceful Piece of Paradise in Cuba

SamiraL887 (Toronto, Canada) on Aug 22, 2023

Melia Varadero is such a beautiful and beautifully laid out, luxurious all inclusive hotel with very well-trained, courteous, committed, eager-to-please and responsive Staff, views of the aquamarine blue seas from every room.. in fact the most beautiful vistas all around from each and every part of the hotel. Their F & B Manager Xavier is extremely hardworking, constantly walking around and ensuring that everything is running as it should. Special mention to Servers: Vanessy, Joaquin, Nuria, Laudett, Julia, Reniel, Osmany and Libia who made our stay comfortable and memorable. The only minor annoyance was that the internet was weak in the rooms and kept cutting off, it functioned best only in the vast lobby. But asides from that minor annoyance, Melia Varadero is a very well-managed and efficiently run five-star resort that I’d recommend to anybody looking for a no-hassles, relaxing break at a luxurious all-inclusive. So much of fabulous food and drink and exotic cocktails….all day long! Five speciality restaurants to chose from; Beautiful large pool and beach, Great entertainment every evening. Security Guards posted all over to ensure guests’ safety. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect vacation. Thank you Melia Varadero for a vacation to remember…??
