Pleasant stay.

Excellent stay. The hotel room was tidy, the beach was clean and safe. Special thanks to Julio, our tennis coach, for great time on the court.

Good start, amazing uplift, excellent holiday.

Beautiful location, friendly atmosphere, we upgraded our booking to a premier room with sea view and was well worth the extra cost. The room was cleaned regularly and to a high standard. We did experience issues with booking a restaurant for the first few days (there are 5 in total) which we brought to the attention of customer services and with the greatest of thanks to Yumi and Julia for their support and efforts, they ensured that we had dining reservations for the remainder of our stay, together with the ‘Level’ facilities for breakfast and lunch. This amazing gesture transformed our holiday from good to perfect. It was such a shame to see the daily reduction of tourists due to the fuel shortages and their home countries needing to get them home early for fear of being stranded. The demoralising effect this was having on the staff was there for all to see and I truly hope the issue gets sorted quickly and the situation returns to normal very soon.

Horrible experiencie

Raul G on Feb 17, 2026

I stayed at the Meliã Varadero for 5 days and I need to share the horror movie I experienced there. Upon arrival, I went to the snack bar and ordered a simple chicken sandwich with a coffee. The waiter, who was already very rude, reluctantly took my food. The sandwich tasted strange, but I ate it anyway. Hours later, I started feeling very sick to my stomach, which made me go to the resort's doctor the next day. The doctor charged me $100 for a simple consultation, which included an injection. The resort's breakfast is shameful: two coffee machines to serve everyone, the omelet takes hours to be ready (since there are only two people preparing it), and the buffet was ridiculously full of just bread. Cake? There was only one type, and it ran out very quickly. I already had a stomach ache and barely ate their breakfast, because in addition to the problems I mentioned above, the food is not tasty. The food situation only gets worse, as lunch and dinner consist almost exclusively of pasta; the other items on display are cold and of questionable quality. Meat? There's only one type, and even that is strictly rationed. I've never seen a resort like this! As for the room, the resort's low standard is clear: full of defects. The toilet didn't flush properly, the sheets weren't very comfortable, and the bed was quite soft. The drinks at the bars were very limited; there was only one good mojito during the entire 5-day stay. The themed restaurants are extremely limited and have no availability. We arrived very early to make a reservation and were told there was only one spot left for the Japanese restaurant, which we went to and didn't enjoy very much; the food was just average. In short: avoid this "resort," which looks more like a guesthouse. I'll never go back and I don't advise anyone to go! There are several better options in Varadero, from other chains instead Meliã.

The dream fulfilled

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel special. We had booked a suite on the LEVEL and it did not disappoint, the huge balcony, the lounge and two bathrooms were exactly what was required for a 3 week stay. Boris showed us around the hotel, it was not rushed and he gave us his knowledge and insights on how to make our stay enjoyable and memorable, a true gentleman who truly cares about his guests. The LEVEL staff on reception would organise anything you need and when Orladia was on duty a big smile would greet you and you knew your request would be dealt with. The LEVEL has its own unique Cafe/Bar and is looked after by an incredible team, the one and only Luisito Casanova has the guests (especially the women) feeling special with his fun personality and attention to detail, together with the lovely Eva, Mayara, Anay and Blady they ensure this Haven is well stocked , spotlessly clean and a home from home. Our individual housekeeper Yaris (toyota) as i knicknamed her, was a very professional happy lady who took care of our room every day, credit to you and thank you Yaris. Louis Daniel our bar tender on the beech always met you with a huge smile and a high 5, ' Dos aguas sin hielo' is how he will remember us, a great guy. They have their very own Tennis/pickleball instructor on site, the great man is Julio Cesar, who travelled in every morning to coach us at 8am, a fantastic patient guy who is now a friend of ours, if you go to this hotel give Julio a shout to improve your game. Now, the resort has many different restaurants to eat at, we tried them all probably twice over the period and each one served its purpose with enjoyable cuisine which will suit every palate. Credit to Tex Mex for great breakfasts and dinner. I had a dream many years ago to be in Cuba smoking a cigar and having a glass of fine rum this has now been fulfilled. Coming from Scotland was a long journey, but well worth it to meet incredible people and immerse in a culture one can only imagine unless you go. BRAVO CUBA
