Mexico flight and service disruptions

In accordance with the regulations established by Mexican Civil Aviation and Federal Consumer Protection laws, you may be eligible for certain provisions in the event of a flight delay or cancellation while in Mexico:

  • Whenever a flight delay or cancellation occurs, WestJet is committed to facilitating communication through telephone calls and email, provided that the airport infrastructure within Mexico allows access and means to do so.
  • Should your flight experience a cancellation or a delay exceeding 4 hours, and the cause of the delay falls within WestJet's control, the following may apply:
    1. If you decide not to travel, or the flight was cancelled, you may request a ticket refund or a refund for the flight segment not flown.
    2. In the event of a flight cancellation, WestJet will offer transportation on the next available flight (including rescue flights as applicable) to the same destination.
    3. In the event of an overnight stay, WestJet will offer a hotel, and if necessary, transportation to/from the airport.
    4. In the event you request transportation for a future date to the same destination, alternate flight arrangements will be offered subject to availability.
    5. If you, due to a cancellation or a delay over 4 hours, choose not to travel and are reimbursed for the unused flights or choose transportation at a future date, you will be offered compensation equivalent to 25% of the total price of the affected flight(s).
    6. Compensation, if applicable, will be issued as a WestJet Travel Credit in the name of the guest who travelled and is valid for 1 year from the issue date.

Please fill out the form below for each individual traveller if:

  • you were on a WestJet-operated flight departing from the Mexico
  • you were delayed more than 4 hours after your scheduled departure time, or your flight was cancelled
  • the delay or cancellation was a result of factors that are deemed within WestJet's control
