Good breakfast and large room

Andrew K on Nov 15, 2025

I stayed for two nights for work in July. Breakfast was very good. I got a large room with a specious bathroom but the hotel didn't have upgraded rooms for me as an Ambassador Elite member available during my stay dates. I've stayed at this hotel several times for work and I'd consider staying again.

It's a Marriott # Splendid

SQUALO85 (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) on Oct 05, 2025

Quick response rate, friendly and supportive member of staff, check-in and check-out procedure did go smoothly, breakfast and hotel grounds, facilities clean and tidy. Only issue was, that they close their lounge from Friday to Saturday, which totally ruins the moment and reason to be getting into a Marriott in the first place.

Great hotel

Familyof5_CT (Darien, Connecticut) on Aug 20, 2025

The Marriott Union Square was lovely. Rooms, concierge level, gym and public spaces have been tastefully updated. The concierge area has a full course breakfast including delicious coffee. The front desk staff were helpful and kind. Would definitely return.

Convenient Location, walkable to many places.

megtrip88 (San Francisco, California) on Aug 17, 2025

We stayed at this hotel during the July 4th holiday. We asked if this hotel could see the fireworks, but was told that it was too far. I wonder if the higher floors would be able to view fireworks? However, you could easily walk down to the Ferry Building (15-18 min walk). With that in mind, keep in mind that this is San Francisco where firework sightings are usually blocked by our friend, Karl the Fog. Location: The location of this hotel is great. We walked everywhere (Ferry Building, Chinatown). The homelessness situation was not too bad. There were a few individuals who ranting on the streets, but the kids were ok with it. Close to the new Nintendo Store. The kids had a blast playing video games there. Don’t venture too far west - else you will hit the Tenderloin/Nob Hill border, which is not advisable if you are with kids. We only stayed here for 2 nights. We also picked this location due to the proximity to Hertz rental car. When we were ready to check out, we headed to Hertz, picked up the car, loaded our bags and drove off to explore the rest of the Bay Area. Restaurants: Some of the nearby restaurants that we went to, that were enjoyable: - Lapisara Eatery (Brunch: Super cute for the kids, great food. But a little expensive). - The Public Izakaya (Japanese: Go during Happy Hour! The Salmon Sashimi was delicious, for a fraction of the price) - E&O: I actually booked the hotel due to the proximity to E&O, one of my fave restaurants/happy hours in SF when I lived there, but they were closed for the holiday) - Liholiho Yacht Club (another place that we were planning to go to, but they were also closed during the July 4th holiday) - b.patisserie: New location in Union Square courtyard! The best Kouign Amands in SF (if not the US!) - Plethora of Chinatown restaurants, but we went to: iCafe Bakery on Waverly for a snack. Their Pineapple buns were delicious and the Hong Kong Milk Tea was strong and creamy. They also had Zhongxi (aka Chinese Tamales) that looked delicious. They also make the best moon cakes!! Room: The room was cozy, but we expected that from hotels in the city. The beds were as expected for a Marriott. You don’t stay here because of the size of the rooms. You stay here because of the location.

Emergency apartment construction, lead to pleasant stay. Would recommend this property!

Isidro M (San Francisco, California) on Jul 14, 2025

I’m an SF local staying at the property due to emergency construction. Trying something new as I usually stay at the Marquis. I was given room 2915, almost the top floor of the hotel. The room and property felt recently remodeled. My room was spacious and clean. We had a nice view of the star at the top of the beacon grand hotel and Sutro tower when standing at the window. Review as a Marriott loyalist with platinum status: - Front desk staff during check-in was cordial but not personable. - Status was not recognized until I asked if an upgrade was available. (Could be a platinum thing, never had to request when titanium). - The valet, doorman, and staff at the M club were all friendly and helpful. - Doorman was available to take my bags to room (pleasant surprise), helpful so I could have a glass of wine in the lobby bar. - Bed, towels, robes and facilities were clean and comfy. Room had a fridge, safe, and leaking iron. - M club had a beautiful view of Union square (28th floor) and offered, breakfast, evening appetizers (wine/beer for purchase) and dessert. - Breakfast was on par for other Marriott properties of same level - eggs, bacon, fruit, yogurt. coffee, juice. Overall, I will definitely stay here again and highly recommend to visitors for business and leisure. TIP: request a room on a high floor facing nob hill (north side) which has unobstructed views after 20th floor.
