Lovely hotel but let down by rude staff.

Emann987 on Dec 26, 2025

I’m not going to ramble on too much as I think the same has been said before. The hotel is very spacious and clean but let down entirely by its disinterested and damn right rude staff. Not all, Theo is an absolute legend but 90% of the staff really don’t want to be there. There’s laid back and then there’s lazy. The latter unfortunately. Rooms not being cleaned when they are supposed to, poor service in the buffet restaurant, bar staff who have to finish their own conversations before serving you or even taking your order then deciding to let you wait while they serve another customer with no other reason than ‘ I have served him before’. And please don’t expect any smiles from the female bar staff at Lovers beach. This totally spoilt my holiday, but did give us something to laugh (eventually) about for all the wrong reasons. It just wouldn’t happen in Britain nor any other country I have visited. Lovely grounds, kayaking, and beaches but I wouldn’t go back again.

It could have been perfect BUT ………

Emmsie1305 (Hereford, United Kingdom) on Dec 22, 2025

We stayed 10nts at the beginning of December Overall had a lovely relaxing time but it could have been better Room was lovely and modern and a nice walk in shower Beaches and Rasta pool never crowded and always found a bed and towels until the last two days when towels were sparse and at one point had ran out Unfortunately the buffet restaurant wasn’t open at lunchtimes for our stay beginning of December so struggled for light bites at lunch. You pay a resort tax of $24 USD to cover cleaning and WiFi etc! Housekeeping comes every other day, which we knew, but went 4 days without seeing a cleaner - so no clean towels and overflowing bins and when questioned if they were cleaning today got told she finishes at 5pm so no! We had a cleaner 3 times in 10days! It’s disappointing as what were we actually paying the resort fee for? Our rep spoke to the assistant manager and put a complaint in but it shouldn’t have got to that (a cleaner then came twice in two days - which is included in the 3 times they actually came) The staff can be hit and miss! A lot of the women restaurant staff give the impression they don’t want to be there On more than one occasion we got ignored at breakfast for coffee and again for bar service in the buffet in the evenings! We politely grabbed the attention of the waiting staff and said they’d be back but never were We always said good morning, afternoon, evening etc, please, thank you and always asked how the staff were What a breath of fresh air Theo was though! The resort is spread out and you can get a fold buggy to take you around but we liked the walk Visited the coffee shop every day and had a white chocolate frappe (sooo nice) in the morning and lemonade of the day with a cake in the afternoon A must try is a BBC cocktail! The best one being made at Rasta beach bar Overall we did enjoy our stay and would consider coming here again as we loved it was adults only, just some of the staff and housekeeping let it down and the reason why I didn’t give 5*

Anniversary Dec. 2025

A short 25 minute taxi ride from V.C. Bird International Airport. Arrived to a very beautiful adults only (16+) all-inclusive resort. Was greeted by very friendly staff, who provided us with a refreshing tropical drink (virgin type). Check in/check out is seamless and smooth. Promptly given a ride to our villa, via golf cart by a friendly staff member. Food is VERY good at the Breezeway Buffet, Papa Ricco's pizza is good as is Sails & Tales, The Beach Grill, and Cafe 1761. Pools are nice (but not heated, just takes a few minutes to get use too). Two beautiful beaches on site, never had an issue in getting lounge chairs or towels. Just ok nightly entertainment though. On to the resort staff... The entire staff if very friendly/welcoming. Didn't get their names, but the employee that 'stood-out' was Theodore a.k.a. THEO!!! By far the FRIENDLIEST/KINDNESST young man at the entire complex. Sooooo friendly and welcoming. SUPER polite too. Hotel management.... Theo deserves a gold medal for his kindness/professionalism, and is a true assest to the Verandah Resort.

- Alcohol watered down (noticed was never feeling anything so tried 3 big tequila shots and felt nothing!) - Buffet closed for renovations - Same menus every day - Staff unfriendly 50/50 - Only one gathering place/bar in entire resort with AC but really nasty mold smell (I have asthma)and only open from 5pm to 1am. No other public area on resort with AC except one restaurant - Beach bottom full of weeds (not floating sargasm) - Room cleaning only every second day - No water on Oct 6 from 9am to 6pm (no pooping, no shower, no brushing teeth ) - Cockroaches in room and balcony (oct 9th while trying to sleep a cockroach fell on my neck…turned on lights and saw it scurrying away in bed frame/box) - Very steep to walk resort and golf cart rides no shows or very long waits ! A perfect Antiguan Caribbean relaxing stay

Patrick G (London, United Kingdom) on Dec 13, 2025

The Verandah location was perfect, only 30 minutes from the Airport in an AC Taxi as you pass Viv Richards Cricket stadium, when you get to the hotel you are greeted with rum punch which creates a relaxing welcoming Atmosphere. The bungalow rooms were very spacious & clean with large balcony with waterfront view, the room had lots of amenities TV, AC, Wi-Fi, fridge, iron, safe, coffee & Teas & daily water. The bathroom had a large walk in shower and his & hers sinks. The only thing I would say o raise it to the next level would be soft drinks like Sprite & Coke in the fridge along with the water. Facilities were 1st class restaurant food was excellent and varied, 3 x swimming pools, 2 private beaches & (Long Bay 5 mins down the road) free water sports, we had a first time, fun trip on a Hobie Cat and a special mention for the white water inflatables that were truly awesome and relaxing. We had a great stay, service was 1st class and friendly and special thanks must go to the Management - Deputy Manager Patricia Martin who was always smiling and very attentive to all our needs, Rashae & Shawnee in Sails & Tails who looked after us every day, with smiles and great service, Jamal from IT who was uber helpful with our connectivity needs, Olvus in the beach bar and little Ashley who was bar relief who is studying to be an Architect, there were a lot more staff who I didn't get their names who made our holiday truly memorable and amazing. We have been to Jamaica, Barbados, St Lucia & now Antigua, our No.1 destination is now this beautiful country & friendly people. Antigua Verandah ....We will be back!!
