Best Resort Vacation to date

We have been to 5 or 6 different resorts in Cancun and this one has been the best experience we've had yet.
Mid All-Inclusive

Cancun was not our main reason for going to Mexico so we only stayed there for two nights. Occidental got the job done for that amount of time, but if I were to go back for an actual Cancun All-Inclusive vacation I would definitely pay more and book somewhere else. Everything was just "meh" from the rooms to the food (buffet, restaurants, and snack bar), to the beach. You do get what you pay for!
Nice hotel with friendly staff and good vibe

When we first arrived we were actually disappointed of the hotel beach and location (compared to what we expected). The pictures online are cut so you don't see all the boats passing right by and all the hotels across the beach. The area where you are allowed to swim is very small. But we learned to like it due to the fact that it was less windy, the beach was more cozy and friendly and the ferry passing by, took us directly to Isla Mucheras. Location was also nice considering quick transport to center and different malls by Uber. Hotel was clean and safe and staff was friendly and happy. About the food - lunch and breakfast was all a bit the same each day, so could have been better. The Italian, Seafood and Mexican restaurants were ok We got a very nice sea view room, but the entertainment was very loud in the evening. I would recommend this hotel if you do not expect the long white beach and do not have too high food preferences.
Kayak

Alex was a great tour guide during kayak. He pointed out starfish along the trip. Jasmin was very polite and kindly informed us about all the activities going on that day.
Terrible experience

My family and I arrived on Dec 28 for a 4 night stay. The beach is tiny, super close to a pier where noisy party boats come and go all the time during day and night. The beach has a sign alerting about crocodiles with a no swimming advice. The pool is small for the number of guests and full of sunscreen residue. The wifi did not work in our room and was bad even at the lobby. The buffet restaurant is small was the only one available and the food was messy and of bad quality. Lines were long at dinner time and for breakfast. No reservations were available for the other 2 tiny restaurants. Importantly 2 of us got sick overnight after having dinner at the buffet restaurant. We had to leave in the morning as we got really sick. No refund was issued for the remaining 3 nights paid in advance. The staff was friendly, but we got no support from the manager regarding the refund.
