Come back when renovation construction is done
MBarb10 (Denver, Colorado) on Feb 25, 2026
Even though I received an email in advance of my trip, I was not prepared for the disruption from the construction noise. Jackhammer all day long. No peace at the pool. The room wing had clearly already undergone a renovation. When the construction is done, I’m sure it will be a nice place to stay.
Second time staying here in Hawaii - Enjoyed it, friendly, helpful knowledgable staff
Krishnan R (Hayward, California) on Feb 25, 2026
This was my third trip in Hawaii, but a familar place we stayed at back during Independence Day weekend of 2013. Couldn't forget how much open air there is near the front desk and near the shuttle/bus stops. I booked this place mainly because the taxes and fees compared to the other hotel and total cost wasn't far off, so I decided to go ahead with the Marriott. This time around, I came alone as my parents were traveling out of town as the last time I came in 2013, my mother and I spent a couple of nights here. Stayed here from Feb 20 to Feb 24th. Got here on Friday 2/20 around 2:15PM and got a room right away to my surprise. Ahead of time, I initially booked a room without a balcony or Ocean view, but after giving a call asking some questions about a late checkout because of a redeye flight, they saw I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and they made it clear the balcony was undergoing renovation but still got me an Ocean view room at the Keaholani Tower (which was where my mom and I stayed back in 2013) as an upgrade just no balcony access. I didn't mind the no balcony access since I wasn't charged extra and my intention was to still enjoy the ocean view since it was literally steps from the beach. They also made it clear there was construction and construction noises. Yes, I heard quite a bit but it didn't disturb me overall and my sleep and rest was nowhere near comproised. Staff was very friendly at check-in and got room 1804. The painting and ability to open the door with a keycard is all RFID compared to the last time where you had to manually insert your keycard. Upon entry to the room, I was surprised on how large it was for a 1 king room with plenty of space. Bathroom was reasonably sized but it had a very nice walk-in shower with the ability to also wash your legs without the shower hitting your face - kind of like what we have at my house in the downstairs bathroom. More hotels should adopt this flexible approach if you're not a tub person like me or my parents. Shower had great water pressure. I was able to sleep comfortably all the 4 nights. So no problems there. When I needed bar soap and laundry bags, they were very prompt that they even gave 2 bags when I asked for 1 which shows they go the extra mile which frankly did help with some of my soiled clothes. Breakfast wasn't included with my reservation but went to the Kuhio Beach Grill and to my surprise, I was very impressed with the buffet selection. Mini pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs and fruits. Staff was very attentive and friendly each of the days. The buffet was $40 but worth it. For the price I paid plus the Ocean view regardless of the ability to use the balcony, I thought my stay was overall enjoyable. If my travels do take me to Hawaii again, provided the price is right, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Marriott again.
Just average

Stayed on the 25th floor, ocean and Diamond Head views. The hotel is old, white towels are dirty and old, no bath mat or coffee cups, very noisy, thin walls, etc. Layout of the room was really weird, outlets were oddly placed. Haven’t had a good night sleep we’ve been here. Will choose another hotel on our next visit. Disappointed.
Great Waikiki Family Stay

Great location right across from the beach. This hotel seemed to be recently renovated and the Oceanview rooms are definitely worth the extra spend. The pools were great for the kids and the hotel had many daily activities such as a fire show, movie nights, and painting classes. Rooms are well kept as well as the hotel property. No noticeable street noise or hallway noise from the rooms in the evening. Staff were friendly but had minimal interaction after check in. Starbucks downstairs makes for a convenient morning. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Across the street from the beach and right around the corner from the zoo if you have littles. Fun and clean hotel for families. I would definitely stay here again. Note that it is a little bit further down towards the end of the strip, so a little bit further of a walk to get to some places but not a deal breaker.
Sub par for a Marriott experience

Very disappointing experience. The check-in process lacked basic hospitality, and staff showed no flexibility regarding our prearranged booking. The pillows were uncomfortable and felt like very low quality. The biggest issue, however, was the nonstop construction noise on the decks — it went on constantly and sounded like active demolition. Relaxing or resting was nearly impossible. This stay fell far below expectations
