Great if you don't require a quality internet.

First staying at any El Cid. First time staying at an all inclusive. We were a bit apprehensive of all inclusive, but the ability to dine at the other 8 locations throughout Mazatlan gave us variety in both cuisine and presentation , (menu or buffet). The foo was quite good at the marina with other locations a little less tasty, but overall I'd rate it a solid 4 out of 5. The room was big with a nice view of the marina...4.5 The staff was excellent except for Carlos at the front desk, He was as unfriending as possible. Exclude him, the service was a 5. Pools were very good with one heated which was nice. No real jacuzzi, but nice hot tub. 4.5 Now the real killer was the wi-fi. The basic service which wa $30 US for 5 days..just barely adequate for texting, but scrolling the Internet or WiFi calling, not good. Upgraded to Wi-Fi plus for $60 for three days. Terrible. Dropped ever 20-15 minutes and slower than the slow service. Overall, great place except for the extremely slow WiFi and Carlos. I needed a moderate quality internet for work, so would not go back if I had work to do. This my overall rating.
Atrocious Customer Service

ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS SERVICE!!! I don’t know if travelling solo has made me invisible at this resort but I paid my all inclusive fees no differently than anyone else. Tonight I waited over an hour for a glass of wine at dinner & eventually left without giving a tip (which I never, ever do) as I was soooooo disgusted. Earlier in the day there were about 6-8 waiters standing at the pool bar. Not serving customers for a good hour at lunch time. Like that’s a good use of time & in the best interest of customer service. Many others also observed this & commented. Be very careful before you choose to go all inclusive. All inclusive of nothing is nothing.

This is the 12th time we have stayed at El Cid Marina MZT. Positives: Service was excellent. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Food was good. Olivia went the extra mile to make our stay very enjoyable. When she found out it was bday, she decorated the room with balloons and all the extras. She always wore a big smile and went out or her way to greet us and take care of our every need and want. She truly is an asset to El Cid. Other shouts outs go to Freddie, Katia, and Hugo. We fished two days with the Aries fleet and captain Carlos made every effor to put us on fish. We golfed two days and the courses were in great shape and our caddie was very knowledgable and new every break on every green. Over all our stay was excellent. Thanks again to Olivia. Negatives: I signed up for the resort provided transportation way ahead of time. Our name was not on the list and the people who were there did not try to rectify the mistake but simply stated that we would have to get a taxi. I never had that kind of service with any one at El Cid. The second thing is that they messed up our scheduled massages on the last day. Scheduled it the following week and we weren't even going to be there that day. Our first massage on property was excellent and we were looking forward to the next one but it never happened. Katia made every effort to make it right but.... Overall the stay was very good. The thing that sets this resort apart is the attention to service detail. I never passed an employee that didn't smile and extend the appropriate greeting. Thanks El Cid, we will be back.
Don't stay here unless you are on the all inclusive plan. Horrible service

The property itself and the rooms were very nice. It seems however the resort is geared to those customers who are on the all inclusive plan and we were not interested in a week of all you can eat buffets . They charge $14 per device per day for internet. Been going to Mexico for over 20 years and have never seen that in any resort we have stayed. Gym was another $10 per person per day if you used it. Our real issue though was with the quality of the food in the restaurant's and poor service. First night we ate in the restaurant. Took 15 minutes for the waiter to come to the table and they only had 1 menu for 4 people. Food was average at best and the margarita has no alcohol in it. This seemed to be a common issue as we overhead several people at the pool sending drinks back for the same reason. We had 2 breakfast's there and again experienced poor service. Shouldn't have to wait 45 minutes to get 2 pieces of toast. People were getting up to refill their own coffee because the waiter was nowhere to be found. Also beware of the golf shop. The hotel posts an exchange rate of 17 pesos to the dollar. The golf shop doesn't post it but uses 21 pesos. That means golf for 2 is not the posted $175 but more like $200. The caddie also stole 200 pesos from my wife's golf bag. We did not report this because we did not want to deal with the hassle. We successfully avoided the time share presentation but those people are relentless.
