Family fun at the beach

We visited the Hard Rock Punta Cana between Christmas and New Years as a family, and we had a great time. This is likely one of the busiest weeks of the year for the hotel, and they managed the crowds very well. Overall, we were happy with our stay and we would stays at a Hard Rock again. We were looking for a vacation that would appeal to a teen and tween, and we got it! There was plenty to do, with multiple pools with differing ambience (from quiet and child-free, to ones with DJ's). As others note, the chairs fill up quickly. We started the day at the beach and moved towards the pool later in the day, when chairs opened up. There is no shade by the pool anyway, so it's hard to spend a whole day there. Bar service outside during the day was quick, even with very large crowds. Inside the main building, there is plenty of shopping and activities. We stuck to the family friendly ones, like bowling, ice cream, and the VR experience store, which was by far the top attraction for my youngest. Nighttime entertainment was a lot of fun, too. My older child joined me for a show. Skip the mini golf outside, as there are serious design flaws on the course, making some holes unplayable. There are nightclubs and casinos for the child-free crowd. Overall, the staff was friendly and helpful, and made the experience better. The resort was beautiful and well maintained. It was clean and we felt safe walking around day or night. It is also quite easy to find a shuttle around the facility at any time of day, and there were enough running to accommodate the large crowds. There were waits for dinner, but if you followed the red/yellow/green light times for meals, the waits were shorter. We preferred the meals at the specialty restaurants above the main buffet. If you are traveling for top-notch dining, you may be disappointed. But for a family looking for a beach getaway, we were happy with what we ate. Room service was excellent, and all included. We arrived late the first night due to travel delays, and we were able to order full meals for the whole family to the room, and it all arrived within a half hour. The one issue we had was with the aggressive time share sales team, masquerading as "concierges". As said earlier, we arrived late and didn't have a normal check-in. So we apparently missed their pitch, and we started getting calls to the room at 8 am the first morning. We hadn't even seen the facility in the daylight and they were already trying to sell us a timeshare. If you avoid these people and are clear and firm with your declinations, it will stop. It is a stress point and a bit of a turnoff, and works against the rest of the experience. But overall, we would recommend this to families looking for a lively vacation in a beautiful location.
Worst vacation ever - don’t waste your money on this terrible experience

Non existent customer service, terrible food, dirty rooms, useless concierge, ridiculously overpriced - there is not one thing I can recommend about this place. Worst vacation I’ve ever had in 50 years! Don’t waste your time or money here, you’ll be disappointed.
