Just returned from a 1 week vacation as a family of 4 (kids 9 & 11). The highlight was the beautiful weather and well kept grounds. The beach was pretty with soft sand but water was quite rough and had seaweed most days which they raked just a portion. We still went in a bit up to our knees out of precaution for the strong waves. This was our first time at a Hard rock and unfortunately would not return. 1. Loud music everywhere, sometimes could hear music from multiple sources. Was not relaxing. 2. Long waits for dinner. 1+ hr at Los Gallos at 6pm. Luckily had reservatiovs at Toro and Zen for 6pm. We opted to go to the buffet most nights due to the waits. We ate at Ciao trattoria one night and im pretty sure I got sick from the lobster bisque. Had the runs the rest of the week and had to eat bland food the rest of the stay :(. My husband also got sick but not sure how he caught that. 3. Room was cleaned daily. It was decently cleaned with the exception of a filthy carpet by the bed. Housekeeping do not have vacuums. The kids pull out had a thin mattress - we asked for extra bedding to make it more comfortable. 4. Kids club - very busy in the evenings. We were waitlisted #7 and didn't get in despite waiting approx 40 minutes. They prioritized members. 5.Activities were slim - I usually like Zumba, but didn't find anywhere to dance all week. 6. Watersports were non existent at the resort 7. Drinks were repetitive- same strawberry daiquiri and pink colada everywhere. Would be nice to have more menus and selection. My daughter frequently mentioned bartenders would ignore her. 8. Loud commercialized strip mall where most restaurants and buffet are. It took away the charm of the resort. I dreaded having to walk there since it was so loud. The virtual gaming especially was annoying to walk by in the walkway. This should be inside somewhere. 9. There was no quiet place to relax. I opted to relax on my room balcony quite often. 10. Lots of upselling. Luckily we avoided the time share presentation. But there were lots of activities for a fee - flowrider, bowling, laser tag, arcade, escape room. We avoided these. All that, this is a huge resort which lacked a personal feeling. While it was more affordable than other vacations we've been on, I would not return.

We had an INCREDIBLE stay the Hard Rock. I don’t understand the negative reviews… we have traveled significantly throughout the Caribbean, and I am very wary of All-Inclusive properties, as we have never had a great experience, but we are already planning our return vacation to the Hard Rock Punta Cana! The list of things we loved is so long. The pools were fantastic, while we spent a little time in all of them, the Woodstock pool became our favorite. Always able to find 4 loungers together, and a little quieter than some of the others. The severs at the pool are kind and attentive. Drinks are way better than we’ve had at other all inclusive, with higher end alcohol. And while the alcohol flows all day, not once did I see anyone noticeably intoxicated or behaving badly. It was very family oriented and the guests were all respectful. Room was great for our family of four. Two beds and a sleeper sofa suited us just fine! We took a few soaks on the jacuzzi in the evenings which was a lovely surprise. Housekeeping did a consistently good job, and whenever we needed anything (extra hangers, towels and beer), they were super quick to accommodate. We loved the food. In order of our favorites, we’d like Tori, Zen, Ciao, Split (amazing sandwiches that I wish we would have discovered earlier in our trip). We loved the breakfast buffet at Ciao and at ipanema. The only meal that wasn’t great was the the Mexican restaurant. The servers were not very friendly and the device was slow. (Food was good though) Most notable to our trip, I would like to recognize Angel, a server from Ciao. He was our server one night at dinner, and then every morning at breakfast. What a wonderful man. Always greeted us with a smile, and just conveyed a genuine love for life. He was an excellent and hard working server, and we just really enjoyed getting to know him over the week. We will miss him, and hope he’s still at the Hard Rock when we return!! In summary… bypass the negative reviews and book a trip here!
