It was alright but caution

W8712HBmichaelm (Somerville, Canada) on Dec 31, 2025

We had a mixed experience: The resort is nice, The people were pleasant at the resort, food was amazing. We travel for snorkeling and beaches. We could not swim because of all the crap / debris in the water, I can’t hold that against the hotel as it can’t be helped, but….. We were immediately turned off of the beach because it was all sand bags holding it together and they are all visible. Even though the resort was under construction it really wasn’t that noticeable. So they did a good job hiding the noises and work. I’ve tried to write on the princess’s Facebook posts about my experience and they’ve deleted my comment 3 times so I am making a permanent record of my trips experience here on trip advisor so they can’t delete it. Word of warning: We were asked to go do a breakfast and an hour meeting with staff about the many benefits of the hotel, in return they were going to give us a free ticket to chichen itza. We did it to save money on the tour. We ended up eating the rep, then going to watch a 10 minute movie about what they were going to pitch to us then they took us to a table and tried to sell us on buying into their royal holiday vacations package. It would have us booking through them for their resorts and partner resorts for points. But you pay for the points. The pitch started at a whopping $65k us funds and ended with a $750 US funds package to test it out. We went through 3 different salesmen who were increasingly pushy. I overheard them offering 8k to another man in the room as we walked in so it’s very random what they try to get for the package. We were in that room for 4 and a half hours before we got our free ticket to chichen itza. It really wasn’t a great experience or worth the free ticket to lose half of the day. Don’t say yes to the sales pitch.

Was great until...internal theft issue

Wayne C on Dec 22, 2025

Just left Saturday.... Was victim of theft from my locked safe in room on last night there. So far hotel is blaming me. Told them found my $$ missing literally on the shuttle to lobby when I went give the bell man a tip. Both my wallet and wife's purse cleaned of every dollar (usd and cdn). 100 % safe was locked and we seen the money at 7pm when we went to our last dinner. Suspicious worker.mingling in hallway when we went for dinner. Came back around 11pm and went to bed..up at 230am for 3am shuttle to airport. Noticed all $ gone when offering a tip. Walked to front counter for checkout. Clerk didn't seem to concerned (as if this was ok and normal). Told me to report it to security (who was closed or nowhere around). I literally has 5 minutes to catch my shuttle. Anyways left and emailed hotel from Cancun airport and sent a msg immediately to the concierge. I was told since I didn't report it I was breaking their policy as they couldn't proof a theft occurred. I told them I realized my $ is history and will not be reimbursed however this shouldn't be happening and they ought to attempt to find the culptit(s). This was clearly an inside theft. I asked them to secure the hallway video immediately to retain it and get the door entry records. All I keep getting back in responses was "sorry for your inconvenience". It's not an inconvenience it's a theft ! It seems like they know if you're gone and not there in person to fill out a form they conclude their efforts. The room was new and finished in the last month. I recommend people do a google search of the hotel safes... I had no idea how easy it isto gain access with online codes. I suspect the hotel didn't change the default code as it was so new. All I know is that they got a good scam going and know to get you on your last day and upon departure the hotel won't investigate. Seems like they don't care but they really should as the criminal worker(s) have no place amongst the honest and hard workers there. Been there 2 times....would have been many more trips but now we will go somewhere else. Clearly we are not valued enough. Enough said. Good luck...don't use the safe and get and fanny pack! Maybe a nanny can for the room !

Mexico Grand Riviera Princess

JAV100111 on Dec 21, 2025

This resort was awesome, there were 50 of us for a wedding and not too much to complain about. Even with construction on the resort it was still awesome. The picture shown here is our room and on this side of the resort there is no sunshine in the pool so the waster is always cold. (November). We still loved the swim out. next time we would ask for all day sun. The restaurants were very good especially Mama Mia. The beach was beautiful, could swim most days in the ocean. We did an excursion to swim with the turtles and see the cenotes, I would highly recommend, it was amazing.

Edward M on Dec 08, 2025

So when we arrived the first night they gave us their outdated rooms which is not what we payed for and they finally moved us to the updated room the next day…and while we were at the resort they kept charging our card 58$ dollars randomly..today is December 8th and they are still continuing to charge randomly..we spoke to front desk and they said they have no clue ..but it is a huge fraud that they are doing ..I do not recommend this place at all ..don’t let the pictures fool ya…I promise you will not be happy

Disappointed stay

Sandra F on Dec 03, 2025

???? Google Review – Grand Sunset Princess (Miami Riviera Cancun / Delta) We arrived two days ago and I want to share our honest experience so far. I’ll start with a few important concerns: 1. Safety issue with lighting: When you walk out of the rooms toward the elevators, many of the lightbulbs are not working. The entire area where the elevators are located is completely dark. It feels very unsafe to walk through a pitch-black hallway, especially in a hotel that was recently renovated. 2. Shower design flaw: The rooms themselves are beautiful, modern, and very clean. However, the shower has no shelf or ledge at all to place a bar of soap, shampoo, or anything. It makes no sense in a renovated room to leave guests without even a small spot to put their toiletries. 3. Restaurant signage: Every à la carte restaurant has no sign or name on the outside. You have no idea which restaurant is which unless you stop and ask. It would be so simple to add the names so guests don’t have to guess. 4. Hospitality could be better: We’ve been to Mexico many times, and usually the friendliness is outstanding. Unfortunately, the staff here hasn’t been as warm or welcoming as expected. 5. Honeymoon experience disappointment: We arrived as newlyweds and mentioned it at check-in. The front desk agent, Victoria, seemed surprised and even asked us to show our marriage certificate—something we obviously don’t carry around since we got married three days ago. It felt unnecessary and a bit disrespectful. No honeymoon acknowledgment or gesture was made, which was disappointing. ? On a positive note: • The rooms are very clean and beautifully renovated. • The resort itself looks nice overall, though there is still a lot of construction happening. • The daytime entertainment, music, and pool games are excellent and do keep you busy. • The renovated areas of the restaurants look great. I will update this review as the week continues, but I hope management reads this and addresses some of these issues. There is potential for a great experience here, but several details need attention.
