Go to the hamachi, ask for Hector!

Best food on the resort. Hector our chef was not just a superb cook, he was a consummate entertainer and showman. He made the experience one we will never forget. Tips: all the garlic. Ask them to leave the saki bottle. Kenpai!
Fun time. Get Hector!

Great time. Joel brought us everything we needed. Get the sake and they'll leave the bottle. Hector cooked us an amazing meal, was a great show. Ask for extra garlic
Awesome experience

We just came back from this resort. We are all aged 60+ (4 people). After reading other reviews for this place, we almost cancelled at Christmas. We also saw that some people have gone multiple times, so we decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did. We landed in Cancun shortly after 7 pm and didnt get to the resort until after 10. Be prepared for a slow check in. We didn't get to our room until 11:30. Our room had a king sized bed and was quite comfortable. There are slippers provided in the room, sage was in the closet, lots of pillows on the bed. Our room had a couch which was a pullout for sleeping. The bathroom was large with 2 sinks. No door for sink access. Shower and toilet are separated from the sinks by doors. The rooms could probably use an update but they were still pretty nice. 1 sink had a crack in it but it didn't leak. Also, some peeling around the mirror. We were in Adult select and that was great. Adult area has it's own pool and restaurant for breakfast and lunch. It also has a menu for food at the pool. Staff are always coming by to take your drink orders. There are 5 al la carte restaurants and we reserved at 3 of them. There is an app (website) that you can log into to make reservations or room requests. Reservations open at midnight each night which isn't ideal if you go to bed early, but it is easy to use. We got reservations at all the places we wanted to try. Los Lirios and the Brazilian restaurant were our favourites. We only went to the main buffet 3 times. It was okay but food wasn't really hot. There is a smaller Mexican buffet which we went to once. Food was hotter there. No reservations needed at either buffet. El Nido is a taco/pizza restaurant. It's very good. We ate there twice. No reservation needed. All staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. There are many things to see and do here. Tunnels to explore, suspension bridge, ruins, lots of walking paths, petting zoo, and a large water park. 5 cenotes. The large one was unfortunately closed while we were there. I was hoping to snorkel there, but it being closed was definitely not a deal breaker. The water is monitored in the cenote and it was closed as the water needed to come back to better levels for the fish. You could still walk out on the platform and take pictures and they have yoga there in the mornings. Also a couple of weddings were held there. We didnt really check out the evening entertainment so I can't speak to that but there is something going on every evening. Internet is good everywhere on the resort. We brought a firestick to watch TV in the evening. Lots of wildlife on the property. Iguanas, geckos, agouti, coati, and monkeys. I would recommend this pace to anyone and we would love to go back. So glad we didn't listen to other reviews.
Good hotel for families

We went to Sandos Caracol for 2 weeks from UK as family of 7 ( 2 children 5 and 18 months) . We had amazing holiday. The wildlife entertained my children every day , there are many beautiful walks. Food was very nice - lots of varieties in the buffet. The only 2 negatives - room wasnt clean . Floor was very dirty , bung bed was full of dust and there were lots of spider cobwebs around the room. I had requested for floor to be cleaned as we had 18 months old but we ended up cleaning folloor on our own with towels . The other negative was long wait in the snack bar - this was hard when my 18 months old was hungry and few times we went there pizza wasn't available even though it was within hours. I would 100% recommend this hotel to families. Staff was very nice and always smiling.
