A gem of a hotel on the beautiful island of St Lucia

This is a gem of a hotel. Everything is 1st class and the staff cannot do enough to give you an enjoyable holiday. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. The food is cooked fresh with lots of variety. The hotel runs themed cuisine nights (Asian, Indian, Italian, Creole) and the Al la carte Hummingbird restaurant is a must. We were here for Christmas and New Year and the staff pulled out all the stops to make it a special time. Dean, the general manager is very hands on and supportive of all the staff. Special mentions must go to Dana and Jem on reception, Andrea, Princess, Shawnelle, Kisha, Janet and Mandrina in the restaurant, Quincy from maintenance, Junior who helped with our luggage, Javier, Jevron, Carla and Joule Cooks, Jeanhim on tge bar, Merliva from Housekeeping , Tiniki from Lulu's cabana and finally, not forgetting the every present, ever busy Jahfree who kept us fit and entertained. I cannot recommend this hotel and it's fantastic staff enough and we would definitely stay again. Thank you to everyone x

We stayed at the BelJou over new year and we had a great time. We are a quiet couple that dont really socialise but go on holiday to spend quality time together, wind down & not do a lot (sometimes). All the staff were super friendly, we ate really well, and always got a good night sleep! The food has been criticised in other reviews & yes the buffet is small but we were very impressed & always found something to eat! The food was also always hot with fresh coming out all the time. They had themed nights too so you didn’t get bored. Breakfasts were fab & so was Italian night with fresh pasta. There was a great choice of cocktails & mocktails all freshly made. I don’t drink so could help myself to water & soft drinks from the self serve bar at the lower pool. They had all sorts of alcohol down there too. The pools were nice, no sunbed saving & could always find somewhere to sit. It was quiet & peaceful with no kids as adult only! We only watched the New Year’s Eve entertainment so can’t comment on the other nights but it was very loud as they hotel is so small but we could hear our tv fine. It only went on until around 11/11:20 latest. The shuttle to the beach is fab make sure you go, and the ice cream every day was a nice touch. We also used the spa, LaLa was lovely & although slightly overpriced you expect that in hotels. Unfortunately as holiday prices have risen so much since Covid we only went to a 3 star but have been around the world and stayed at 5 & 6 stars & the BelJou was good in comparison! My only criticism and cons of the whole holiday were no decent coffee unless you paid for it which as a non drinker is a bit off as all the alcohol was included so why wouldn’t a latte be? Bottled water is not available in the rooms which I found also strange but you could fill up bottles at the self serve machine. And our room absolutely smelt so badly of damp & mould. I don’t know if they are all like that but the smell is now in all our clothes & hair and this really needs sorting soon! We may visit again if they refurb in the near future
Lovely relaxing break

Lovely hotel, not too big with gorgeous views and fabulous friendly attentive staff. Garden bungalow room was spacious and clean with everything we needed including kettle and coffee and tea. The big walk in shower was great. It was also possible to get to reception/restaurant and the upper pool from these rooms without steps which was useful as my husband has a bad knee. The shuttle service into town and the beach was great. The food was lovely, given the small size of the hotel there was plenty of variety. Good selection of drinks included too. Bottled water isn't included but there is a chilled water machine for refill by reception.

The Bel Jou Hotel is a wonderful resort. The property is beautiful and well kept. The staff is friendly and so helpful. The food was wonderful. A different theme each day. The entertainment was great. We really enjoyed the fire dance, steel drum band. Daily activities keep the fun times going. Our room was very clean and comfortable. You need to take a shuttle to get to the beach, but it is a beautiful beach.

Food..very much JUST OK. Wasnt regularly replenished. Ate in the a la carte one night and after an hour we had only received a starter. Service was awful. Rooms..absoloutey stink of a damp musty smell. Very tired and in need of a total refurbishment. Overall, a below average, tired, tired tired hotel. We wouldn't return.
