Bugs and mold

Cen T on Jan 28, 2026

During my stay at the hotel, I experienced several serious issues that made the visit extremely unpleasant. There were bugs actively running in both the bathroom and the room. In addition, there was visible mold under the window, which I only noticed shortly before checkout because it was hidden behind the curtain. After returning home, my family and I all developed persistent coughing, which raised serious health concerns. The presence of bugs and mold is unacceptable and was the main issue of my stay. I reported the mold problem to the front desk before leaving. I was told that someone would contact me, but no one ever did. I also emailed customer service and received only an automated response stating that I would be contacted. That follow-up never happened. I have documented all of these issues with photographs. Another major concern was the $50 parking fee. The hotel does not actually provide on-site parking; guests are directed to park across the street in a public parking lot. Most hotels do not charge for parking, and if they do, this information should be clearly disclosed at the time of booking — not after arrival. This felt like a hidden cost. Additionally, having to walk five minutes across the street to park the car was very inconvenient, especially in cold and rainy weather. Lastly, the hotel restaurant was significantly overpriced for the quality offered. Overall, this experience did not meet reasonable expectations for cleanliness, transparency, or customer service. The lack of follow-up after reporting serious health and safety concerns is especially disappointing.

We wanted a memorable experience to enjoy Vancouver BC for our first time. Nice hotel! The service we were given in the bar deserves a very honorable mention! Kira made some amazing beverages for us! We came back the next day and Zoe made us some more great drinks. We wanted to try high tea here but booking well in advance is highly, very highly recommended or you won't get a table. We also enjoyed a libation in the H2 restaurant with Chris who was equally amazing too. Thanks to all we will def be back in the future for more!

Uncaring service to tired travellers.

We arrived at the Westin after travelling from Australia and almost 2 days without sleep. We paid for an early check-in. The hotel made us wait 10 hours before our room was ready. We had to sleep on a lounge chair….

Old, expensive, infuriating

We paid an insane amount of money for this hotel that is not much better than a Holiday Inn. A mattress that had two huge dents in it from age, was rock hard and so uncomfortable. No bathroom fan. Broken magnifying makeup mirror. Bare minimum toiletries. Booked for 2 people but only had towels and robe for 1. Freezing cold drafty room. Overcrowded pool and sauna areas. We got a $110 parking ticket in the Westin parking garage even though we paid $50 for one night of parking and weren’t even parked there for 17 hours. Went to breakfast restaurant for breakfast and was absolutely horrified at the pitiful excuse for a buffet that was $50/person. We instead ordered a regular breakfast (scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast for $32) and a traditional eggs Benedict ($34) and a regular drip coffee and a tea bag for $7 each! Our food came out cold. My scrambled eggs look like they had been under a heat lamp for hours. The eggs Benedict was cold, the meat was slimy looking. We sent it back. I realized shortly after that the buffet was closing in 20 mins and we probably got old food they wanted to get rid of. Our fresh meals finally came and they were decent but nothing special. All in with tip $98 for a basic breakfast you could get at a diner for $12 each. Unbelievable. They didn’t even offer us a discount or comp or anything. We will NEVER be back to this Westin and will make sure to warn anyone we know who is considering this place. Our trip was meant to be a fun romantic getaway, I left in tears and we were in such a bad mood from a horrible experience through and through.
