At select airports, print your baggage tags in advance and skip the check-in counter by heading straight to the self-serve baggage drop. 

• Tip: Increase your mobile device’s screen brightness for better scanner reliability. 

• Ensure your carry-on meets our size and weight allowances.
• Place toiletries and liquids in a clear plastic bag for easy security screening. 
• Limit liquids, aerosols, and gels to containers of 100 ml/100 grams or less. 
• Keep prescription medicine in your carry-on, ideally in original bottles if traveling internationally. 
• Pack an empty water bottle to fill after security. 
• Bring travel-size, high-protein snacks like trail mix or protein bars for long trips or delays. 
• Store jewelry in a small pouch or case to keep items organized and tangle-free. 
• Use packing cubes to organize clothes by category (e.g., daytime, evening, dirty). 
• Roll clothes instead of folding to save space.

We understand lost baggage makes travel frustrating and stressful. We will do everything we can to find your bag and return it to you as quickly as possible. If you find yourself in this situation, please follow these steps: 

• Notify a WestJet Customer Service Agent at the airport or create a baggage report.
• Once your report has been created, you can check the status. 
• Your report will be updated when the bag is received at the destination airport, and when it is out for delivery. Email notifications with this information may also be sent as well. Make sure to check junk/spam emails.  
• Should you incur out-of-pocket expenses for a delayed or damaged baggage incident within our control, you may submit a request to WestJet for reimbursement.

• Airport terminal: Find airport terminal information for all WestJet destinations. 
• Domestic travel: Arrive at the airport 120 minutes before departure for domestic flights within Canada.  
• International travel: Arrive at the airport 150 minutes before departure for international flights. 
  
• Check security wait times: For Canadian departures, review current estimates on the CATSA website. Plan to give yourself more time to clear security if needed. 
• Airport lounges: We've partnered with airport lounges located all over Canada, Europe, the Caribbean and Asia to provide you with comfortable seating, business facilities, Wi-Fi, snacks, beverages and more before your flight. 
• Device readiness: Ensure your devices are fully charged before boarding. 
  
• Entertainment preparations: Some WestJet flights do not support WestJet Connect, our inflight entertainment system. Download your favorite podcasts, movies, or shows in advance just in case. 

• WestJet Wi-Fi Presented by TELUS: Available on certain flights, WestJet Rewards members can access free onboard Wi-Fi and stream, shop, play and work just like you would at home. Check your flight's availability using our Flight Guide tool and stay tuned as we continue to update our fleet with access to free Wi-Fi. 
• Inflight entertainment: Using the WestJet app, WestJet Connect gives you access to hundreds of movies and TV shows. However, WestJet Connect is not offered on certain aircraft. Check availability by looking up your itinerary on our Flight Guide tool. 
• Internet: If your flight is not equipped with WestJet Wi-Fi, it may have Wi-Fi for a fee. Check availability on your flight using our Flight Guide. 
• Inflight menu: Food and beverage options may vary depending on your route.  
• Wellbeing onboard: We’ve partnered with Calm to offer a selection of meditations, relaxation exercises, and Sleep Stories through the WestJet app. 
• Outerwear etiquette: When travelling with coats and accessories, please wait until all carry-on baggage is stowed before placing in the overhead bin.  

Weather conditions can be unpredictable throughout the year. To make your travel experience faster and more convenient, we encourage guests to take advantage of self-serve options wherever possible. 

• Pack suitable clothing to match the weather in your destination.   
• We also recommend checking your flight status and any travel advisories before you head to the airport. 

Extra tips: 

• Expedite Security & Customs: Register online for Express (available at select airports) to reserve your spot and speed up your process through security and customs. To reserve your spot check the website of the airport you are travelling from. 
  • Eligible travelers can download the Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app for faster U.S. entry or the Advance Declaration app for easier customs entry into Canada. 
• Wrap gifts after arrival: Wait to wrap all gifts both in checked and carry-on baggage until arriving at your final destination.  
• Carry-on items: like snow globes are subject CATSA’s liquids, aerosols and gel limitations.
