Excellent Stay as Per Usual - Can't Wait to Return!

This was our 2nd trip to Esmeralda this year (we were there in April), and returned for our 40th wedding anniversary and are regular Bahia Principe guests. As per usual, our stay surpassed our expectations! We keep returning as we feel at home at your resort. The amenities, beach and staff make it that way! A special shoutout to the staff from our April vacation for remembering us and giving us a warm welcome, Altemis (Manager), Yirandy (Front Desk), Manual Lopeze (Guest Services ?) Denny (Bellboy), Ruben (Bartender), Andrea (Manager), Geremia (long service employee - driver) . We would also like to acknowledge Marlene (Front Desk) for her kind and excellent service, and Silvestre (the Guest Service rep in our building) for his excellent service and acknowledging our wedding anniversary by making it extra special. And lastly a thank you to an employee named Miguel for listening to our requests at the time of booking. This being said, each employee that we had dealings with were very kind and courteous - so thank you to all! Overall, our vacation was EXCELENTE and we are already looking to book our next stay at the Bahia Principe Esmeralda :)

Good resort this resort is sister resort of two other resorts you have access to . We booked a swim out room which I would highly recommend. It’s a real game changer . This is not the best resort I have been too but for price it’s great. Al carte restaurant very good our fave was Italian. The ac in restaurants is not great so dress expecting it to be warm. drinks are great and a customer service is good .

Aramis best bar tender in the pool and albertho and junior?????????? they are so good. Miguel the reception was Really helpful all 2 weeks and the room was amazing and food was beautiful even the steak house was so good?? the beach is perfect looked after

Best hôtel very good service , and the best barman is in the sport bar , Luis abreu the drink always very perfect , nothing to say about the hôtel every person is gentle and smiling , every restaurant is incredible , the beach is very beautiful and clean

We just returned after 10 nights at the Esmeralda. Overall was very good value for money – but, for a few niggles. To start with the Pro’s • Well maintained and clean grounds • Plenty of sunbeds • Gorgeous beach • Amazingly comfortable bed • Well appointed rooms • Fantastic breakfast • WiFi throughout including on beach The issues we found were almost entirely down to a lack of consistency of the service received, mixed quality of food in the a-la -cartes and the annoying app you are encouraged to use for everything, which frankly, tries hard but fails to deliver. The service staff in the restaurants and around the pool were mostly attentive and friendly, unfortunately we didn’t seem to experience the same in the Esmeralda Sports Bar where (some) disinterested staff appeared made you feel like you were a nuisance diverting them from chatting to each other. As a result, we stopped going there and instead enjoyed a fantastic service from the team in the lobby bar. The front desk team varied from amazing to chocolate teapot depending on who you got. As an example, we asked ‘where do we go to get changed after check out’ , three times before we got an answer (a) we don’t have anywhere,(b) you have to pay for late check out, and then, (c) of course we have showers you can use). The app is on the surface clever, but in reality, clunky. We wanted to see if we could change the time at an ala carte for one more convenient, but, was told in order to see availability we needed to cancel our existing reservation before seeing if the new time was free. It was only when I pushed that they bothered to look – and just as well – as there wasn’t any tables for the new time and had I cancelled we would have lost our earlier booking. I booked a treatment at the spa (was wonderful!) and it didn’t confirm my appointment, so I rebooked thinking I had done it wrong …. So, had I not checked would have incurred a cancellation fee on the second booking. I used the chat function and got a ‘we will pass your query to the relevant guest services team’ but never got an answer. The Map on the app is useless… in the end we just asked the ‘train’ drivers (great service that) to drop us at the nearest stop for where we were going rather than trying to work it out. Restaurants – as said above, Breakfast was amazing - We had lunch at the beach buffet a few times, and there was a good choice but pretty much the same offer each day. The Italian, Mediterranean and Mongolian were fantastic. Was very disappointed by MEAT (poor quality steak unless you paid); the Brazilian BBQ (lack of explanation as to the process so you filled up on salad) and Naan was a big disappointment (but that may be down to taste as others rave about it). The Fish Market had the potential to be great had they not completely messed up our order and gave us 4 starters and the wrong mains (no apology just shrugged shoulders) Finally – we went on an excursion to Catalina island with the on site water sport team. Not amazing, but, nice to get out and about – but, beware, when they say meet at lobby – check ‘which’ lobby they mean….. and double check if you get the shrugged shoulder response, we got the first time we asked. Overall, - excellent value for money – but has its flaws – all of which could be resolved and this resort could be a market leader.
