Fantastic All-Inclusive with the BEST STAFF!

stephanieClophill (Clophill) on Apr 20, 2024

I was so pleased with the hotel, I have stayed in so many all inclusive hotels and this one was up there. The food was amazing, and so much fresh choice, from prawns, to tuna steaks, salmon, chicken, steak the list goes on. I loved the Mongolian restaurant, the Fishmarket and the Mexican was ok, but didn't like the food at the Italian at all. I would say the buffet is so good, you will always find something you like. The best thing about the hotel is without a doubt the staff they were AMAZING! Special shout out to Alfredo & Silvester our concierge they were so helpful, so friendly. The bar staff at the pool bar and the beach bar. The lovely lady at front of house in the beach restaurant, the list goes on. The rooms were lovely, really clean and really big we were in room 90108. If there was one negative is was the awful really load music round the main pool, thank goodness we are beach people as that would of been a game changer for me. The beach is busy and you need to get up at 6am to get a bed at the front. The sea is lovely and warm I would say Esmerelda was the best hotel in the complex, but nice to have the choice of visiting the others one, especially in the evenings. I will chose this hotel again, and have no hesitation to recommend.

The beach and beach bar staff is the best!

Valerie C on Apr 19, 2024

It’s a beautiful resort. Rooms are very nice, the beach is beautiful, the grounds are well kept and the restaurants are amazing! The highlight of our trip was spending time at the beach bar with the staff! Enmanuel, Luisa, Kathryn, Madelyn, Anthony, & Mairenis. They were ALL amazing, very attentive and gave us top notch service. They kept our drinks fresh all day long and entertained us with good times and unforgettable laughs. If we ever return to this resort, it would be because of them! From Rafa and Valerie, we love you guys!

Great vacation, minor details

K G on Apr 19, 2024

Very beautiful resort, respectful staff, fun activities from time to time. Clean beach compared to other hotels nearby, in mid April it was not that crowed so plenty of chairs everywhere. Bonus point, everyone can use those Palapa to take shelter from the sun or rain. The room is cosy and beautiful with the balcony. My only complaint was that the shower stinks from time to time, put a bucket over the drain, it will help a bit. Best bar was at the Limbo restaurant (you don’t need to reserve to sit at the bar) Get the angel kiss cocktail, it’s a must try if you like basilica. The sports bar near the lobby is also a good spot if you want a drink/cocktail to go. The room service is noisey at 7-8am, bring ear plugs and avoid getting a room on the base floor near an entrance. It’s much better to be on the first or second floor. The lack of doors to enter a building makes everything resonate and the seal on your room main door is not as good as the door on the balcony. Get the hotel app, once setup it’s much better to reserve a restaurant, which you should do right away or the next day you arrive. The restaurants are shared with the 5-7 other hotels in the domain, so the spots are very limited. You can also easily see all the activities and keep track on what’s going on and it comes with an interactive map! The buffet in Esmeralda was simply amazing: anything on the plancha or bbq is a must. (Tuna, scallops, steak, calamari, lamb, shrimps) We took a look at the other buffet in Ambar, Punta cana and bavaro, and they seem to miss the many choice in meats/fish. Esmeralda beach restaurant seems to have more for lunch. But I’m confident that the main buffet have just as much (Ambar for sure). Ambar also has a nice coffee shop with sandwiches and pastries. If you’re looking for a decaffeinated coffee, just forget it the taste is horrible. Restaurant Recommendation: limbo, maiko for the show, El olivo were great choices. Meh: fish market, taino, garden grill are just ok. In general they excel in grilling and latin cuisine. Stick to the safe bet and check the reviews! All in all, some great vacations!

Listed pros and cons for your ease

Gabriela M (Philadelphia) on Apr 18, 2024

So we didn’t come here looking for 5 star lap of luxury but we did come as a family with a 2& a half year old and pregnant with number 2- a babymoon of sorts. Now I will list the pros as well as cons so you can make your most informed decision as we’re currently here and haven’t finished the trip but I’ve experienced enough to write this review. To set the scene- we went to a BP in Mexico last year and got conned into getting one of those privilege club packages- thank GOD we only did the 7 days trial one because anything else is a waste if you aren’t middle aged and persnickety. Pros: - buffet food is fantastic. I’d give it a solid 4-4.5/5. Huge selection but still well cooked with gorgeous presentation and super fresh. All the grills have amazing food as well. The buffet can get very busy but we’ve never had to wait to sit. The staff is very friendly but sometimes too quick to take your plate - our toddler kept running off and I had just set my plate down and went to grab him I hadn’t been gone more than 20 seconds and my plate had been taken. Being hormonal I obviously cried ?? especially because my omelet took a while and I was super excited for it. - the hotel compound is very well taken care of, all of the BP hotels are connected, some are adults only but most you can go to with your kids but they’re all big so unless you want to walk in the humid heat you can take a golf cart. - room amenities ! The room is very nice and the AC works great - at the one in Mexico it would turn off if the sensor didn’t react to movement so you’d constantly wake up overheated which was horrible. But these are great. Nice big shower and a tub for the little guy. Decent size room. I’d give the bed a 3/5 for comfort. Our backs have been killing us and my arms go numb (have to sleep on the side now) and the pillows flatten around your head so you get a tad suffocated. Cons: -the first room we got was in the 94000-95000 building. That’s the closest to the lobby, beach, pools and kids area so we thought fantastic ! You know what it’s right behind? The nightly entertainment stage. That entertainment with multiple bass speakers goes until 11pm and we have a super cranky toddler who usually goes to bed at 830. Took two days but we got a room switch across the main area which you can still hear the music though it is thank god a bit quieter- the rooms were SHAKING in the other building but the buildings are all enclosed with rounded vaulted ceilings so the drunk people stumbling in yelling echos so badly and the doors don’t seal well in either room so it’s just not great. - constant phone calls from the staff, why are you calling the room 3x a day I’m sorry if we don’t call you you don’t need to call us to ask if everything’s fine- it was until you called during nap and woke the kid up whose now screaming to the point you called again because someone complained and to make sure everything is ok in here. -no overlap in snack areas / main dining. My husband and I have to alternate who eats because of our wild child and we were too late to the buffet and missed lunch, but there wasn’t anywhere else to go they were all done with food until dinner so we had to order room service which actually tasted pretty good but they didn’t get the order right and whackadoodle wouldn’t eat. So then came the hanger outburst. Anyway if you’ve made it this far it’s great if your kids are tiny (under 2) or older (over 4) but the psycho age in between is really hard to deal with when you’re somewhere that is so loud
