A wonderful way to start the new year!

Jaidy L (Edgewater, New Jersey) on Jan 18, 2025

My family and I had the best experience at Paradisus Palma Real Punta Cana! Management and staff were so helpful, sweet, professional and fun! Carlos and Rodolfo in the front desk were so helpful and accommodating. Absolutely fantastic customer service. Make sure to visit the lobby bar Ginger Bar and say hi to Maria S and Anthony for the yummiest drinks. Make sure to ask Anthony for his morning pick me up, the Anthony special! Delicious espresso slushie drink :) Luis at the pool bar, Celsius, was so friendly and fun! The adults only pool bar (90 degrees) also had the sweetest waitress and so attentive! I wish I could remember her name but she was wonderful. Rosaniris and her parner did a beautiful job with the room service and I loved catching up with them in the morning on our way out for breakfast! Marileisy was fantastic! So was Pedro and Rafael at the reserve beach. The beach services were wonderful and attentive! Ricardo, Edgardo, Miguel, Francesca, Gustavo and Ovie (spelling?) from the restaurant services were a pleasure during our dining experiences! There were so many wonderful staff members that I wish I could recall all their names! The whole team made my mom's 70th birthday so special. It is a beautiful, clean resort with great customer service and wonderful ambiance. We will definitely be visiting again :) Thank you for a great experience!

Great place to relax! This was a great vacation! Long review.

We just returned from a trip to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We used Best punta cana tours for our transportation to and from the airport. They were great. No issues. We stayed at the Paradisius Palma Real - Reserve, the adult section. We booked the presidential suite that had two bedrooms and was right on the beach. We thought it was a ground floor suite but it ended up being on the third floor. It was still a great view. We had a concierge, Alvaro, that helped us with everything from restaurant bookings, excursions, room stock customizations, even seats at the beach. He was always available and very quick to respond. When we arrived, we went to the Reserve only reception area. It was stocked with drinks and snacks. While there, we received a bracelet that served as our room key. I love this as I didn't want to keep up with a room key the whole time. As for the room, the suite had 2 bedrooms, one with 2 full beds and one with a king. There was also a living room in between the rooms with an additional bathroom with a stand up shower. It would have been nice if there was a tv in there because the guys wanted to watch the playoffs that were happening while on vacation. In the king sized room, the bathroom and closet were very spacious. There was also a living room type setup with a tv in there, which is where we spent the late nights watching football and playing games. The second room with the 2 beds was definitely smaller in the bathroom and the closet wasn't in the room, which was odd. You had to go out in the shared space to access the closet. The rooms were great but the bedding could be way better. The mattresses and pillows were hard. Honestly, the lounge chairs outside by the beach were comfier. The balcony was huge. It had rocking chairs, lounge chairs and a shallow hot tub. The room was stocked with vodka, rum, whiskey, wine, beer, sodas, water and some snacks daily. The concierge made sure we had just what we wanted. They even did a couple of charcuterie type welcome when we arrived and a fruit plate another night. We received a beach bag, robes and house shoes in our room which we all loved! The WiFi in our room was good. It worked in many areas of the resort as well. So, that was a plus. Also, I feel like the map is a bit deceiving. We were worried everything wasn’t within walking distance from the reserve but it is. We didn’t venture past the plaza where all of the restaurants are though. Beach, pools, restaurants, coffee, bars, towels are all relatively close. We booked a snorkeling excursion with Hello Catamaran Punta Cana with Jiro and Nine. They were great!! It was a good time. We fell in love with the Palapas. They provide the ultimate shade when you want it. We were able to have one at the beach with the very comfy layout beds. The crew did a wonderful job at cleaning the seaweed at the resort. The swim area in the ocean was really big compared to other resorts I saw. The beach is definitely a huge win for this resort! The pool is really big and has a swim up bar on one side. There is also a pool in the Reserve section. We didn't spend a lot of time at the pools though because the water was freezing!!! Our concierge sent us an activities schedule each day, which was so nice. The resort had some type of entertainment, whether a band or dj every night in the open area. It was hit or miss but still enjoyable. It’s so nice to have music and something to do. They had a silent party one night where everyone got headphones and listened to music that way. It was really fun to see everyone dancing but hearing nothing as you walked by. The resort had some type of craft or experience each day. My friend and I attended a hat painting and a macrame craft. The crafts we attended were led by Brandol and he was wonderful. Both sessions we attended were really fun and it's fun to have a reminder of our trip. Now, for the food. We ate mainly at Sante for breakfast. They have both a menu and a smaller buffet. Then, for lunch, we ate at the big buffet at Kanna. They have so many options it can be overwhelming. Just remember that it's not all seasoned well and it's not very hot. I enjoyed the pasta station the best since he seasoned it as he cooked and it was really hot. We did visit Ginger, the coffee bar, quite a bit for a cappuccino and a sweet treat. The pound cake was delicious! We never ordered room service or ate at Kicks, the sport bar, so I can't speak to those. We ate at all of the restaurant but Mina, the steak house. Since, we're from Texas and eat a lot of great steak, we decided we could skip this one. Our first night, we ate at Sante. It was ok. Sante is definitely the least busy restaurant on the site. Per my friend, try the octopus. He said it's delicious. I personally loved the mixed vegetables they served. I could eat those every day. The next night, we ate at Flora, the Dominican restaurant by Chef Leandro Diaz. Everything was really good. This was probably our favorite of all of the restaurants. Everything was really flavorful. We each ordered an appetizer and shared all of them so we could taste it all. I thought my spicy short ribs were the best but I am biased. Blue Agave was next with mexican food. The guacamole was so good. I think the tacos with shredded meat or the burrito was the best on the menu. The rest could have used some additional seasoning. Mascalzones is Anotnia Lofaso's italian restaurant. It was all very tasty. We had the lasagna, fettucine alfredo and the quatro formagio calzone. The tiramisù was very good. Tokimeku Habachi was really fun. We did the hibachi and the chef was great. It was tons of food, probably the largest servings of our whole stay and it was all delicious. It was fun to sit next to other guests and talk. The only recommendation for this is to have a paper menu. Our waitress really struggled to communicate the different options and had to repeat everything multiple times as her English wasn't very good. If you want to shop, beware! The sales people at the markets are very aggressive. They will approach you on the beach and offer you cheapie cheapie. If you aren't a negotiator, expect to pay more. Likely more than the item is worth. I personally suck at this so I'd almost rather shop at the airport to avoid this. Overall, it was a great vacation that went by way too fast. I'd book again at the Paradisius Palma Real. You can't go wrong with Alvaro. He was wonderful!

Welcome to your home away from home

Ramon at the beach provided excellent service. He knew exactly when we needed something and brought it before we even asked. He is the best! Jonathan at the swim up pool bar was also amazing! He anticipated our favorite drink! Leyenda brugal on the rocks with lime, delicious! Enjoyed the entertainment by the activities director Jhoffrey (?spelling). Danced many nights away. Also learned poolside dance moves and had a fun rum tasting. Our snack attendant in building 4 was so welcoming with his kind smile. He made sure we had all our snacks and sparkling waters daily. For therapeutic massages Gladys (she has magic hands) and Dorka (also wonderful masseuse) at the spa. Have the herbal tea and select a complimentary aromatherapy. You won’t regret it. Juan Castillo was an attentive and caring concierge. He took extra steps to ensure everyone was aware of our allergies- made the stay so much more enjoyable and relaxing from the start. We love and appreciate him so much! Make restaurant reservations- superior dining compared to the buffet for sure. Kicks sports bar also has great food- try the shrimp!

Clean maintained resort with a municipal golf course

Between a 3 star to 4 star. Check-in was verrrry long at 10:30pm as there was a single guy working and a family of 10 was trying to check in under special negotiated pricing. An hour later of waiting patiently, we checked in within minutes. Oceanview room in Building 8 is spectacular and clean. Great view from the balcony. No noise, no loud music and no little kids. The Reserve has two very nice adult pools, bar, and beach front with plenty of palapas. Compared to Iberostar Grand, the Reserve is newer, cleaner and better. Sante for breakfast and lunch are good. However, the dinners are by reservation only. Flora/Dominican was excellent. Mexican was gross and terrible where some dishes used the liquid orange cheese like in sports stadiums. Italian is bearable. Sante is good but not great as food and soups came lukewarm. Haven’t been able to get into the steakhouse so far after 4 days. Not sure what the Grand Cana is like. Beach is beautiful white sand and the resort folks serve you well. Unfortunately the ocean is horribly littered with plastic and there are many boats, yachts, (very loud motors and bad Caribbean music). etc….source of all that plastic and garbage or is this the new world we live in? Cocotal Golf is pricey even at $127 USD ($220 if you don’t and trust me you shouldn’t as there are other nicer courses) if you are staying in the resort. I’ve golfed all over and do realize one will pay more to play at a resort. But this course is a joke. Markers are inconsistent, dog crap and walkers (signs all over prohibiting dogs and walkers but I guess the owners of homes and condos have more power) are on the course, putting greens are scruffy and inconsistent, carts are older and more worn out than at a local public city-run $25 golf course, sand (more like cement) is rarity in the bunkers, but luckily good weather, water, fertilizer and liberal use of herbicide allows the fairways to be acceptable. Melia seems to be building new condos on the course and will have spend big $$$$$$ to improve the course. Maybe that’s why resort tourists are getting gouged for golf. I might return to give the Reserve another chance as beginning January is still the “quiet” time but will check others wrt their food experience.
