Nice resort. Overall good experience for family with kids

yrebeccalam (Saint John, Indiana) on Jul 19, 2024

Overall: very nice resort. Food is pretty good on average with a few excellent restaurants. Buffets are only average. Plenty to do for kids different ages. Place is clean and staffs are friendly. Checkin- we came around dinner time and sent the rest of people to get food. Only to find out they cannot enter restaurant unless they are physically present at the checkin desk to get waistband. Just fyi. Hotel app- very useful. Love using it. Chat function was helpful without going to front desk. Easy to order room service and check info. Map is very difficult to use. A pdf map will be easier. Cleaning- crews are wonderful and work very hard. Rooms are very clean. Staff- very friendly and helpful. Sale pitch- earn $300 for listening to their sale pitch. They told us 1.5 hours which supposed to include 30 min breakfast, 30 minutes tour and 30 min sale pitch at office. We actually spent 2 hours 40 minutes. Spoke with three people before we can leave. Pretty hard sale but to be expected. Went from one million membership level down to 12k and ended at $300 trial. Just be prepared. It is what it is. Entertainment- Wired is a wonderful idea with free arcade and xbox. Playroom is fun too. Saw the magic show and really enjoyed it. Resort credit- many stipulations, only certain activities allowed, and be aware of 16% services fee and other fees for different activities. Able to use half without tagging on too much extra. Spa- wonderful facilities and staff. Love it. We use resort credit so not too expensive. Otherwise it is quite pricey. Excursions- dislike dolphin outing but depends on what you are looking for. Basically just a picture session with the dolphin. Swimming with dolphins means hold on to the dolphins from middle of the pool back to pool edge for a few seconds and took photo. extra $60 per person for pictures if you want it. Tough for the dolphins with such a repetitive routine. Restaurant: Caribeno- service is very slow while the restaurant is only half full. Fish is dry. The short rib and the ribs are better than the seafood. Fruit juice is terrible. Habibi- excellent breakfast and lunch. French toast, baba gonosh, and shakshouka were great. Molten cake was excellent. Service was wonderful. Grand buffet- breakfast was only average and dinner was not good. Tavola- wonderful food and great service. My kid went back many times. Water park- not huge but enough to keep kids occupied. Playroom is inside and give kids a much needed break from the sun. The surfing ride was great. Drinks at bar was good. Great fries. Pool- swimup bar was very nice. Momo- fun for kids and someone who haven’t tried teppanyaki. Quality is not that great. Just ok. Jade- disappointing. do not expect high quality japanese food. Sashimi is only decent quality so is most of the food. Steakhouse- octopus and beef capacicio was delicious. Overall food is good. Le chateau- very nice food. oyster, mixed seafood, duck were excellent. Circus- entertaining for little kids. Food is average. Coffee shop- nice quick bites but can have a long line. Truffle is good. Good sandwich.

Noisy guests!

Matthew B on Jul 19, 2024

So we’ve been coming to The Grand for a few years now and cannot fault the place or the staff! However, I have noticed recently that more and more guests think it is ok to take their own personal speaker to various public locations around the resort and proceed to play their own music without a consideration for anyone around them. For instance, most pools in the resort have music piped around them and the noise level is dictated by the staff and what type of pool it is, relaxation or sports/fun etc. this seems to keep most people happy, but not the selfish few who seem to not give a damn who has to listen to their music! Last night we were in the lobby bar which had a couple of singers performing typical lounge music. Now that may not have been to everyone’s taste, at which point you can choose whether to stay or go somewhere else, this place is huge and caters for most tastes. There was one group of adults and teens who thought it was a nice idea to hold their own party in the main bar, speaker blasting out music and shouting and screaming with not a care about other people’s enjoyment. The staff were unsure what to do at first and shouldn’t have had to be telling people to behave with simple courtesy towards other guests, but they did tell them to behave and they did in the end. This was probable after about an hour of making sure they everyone had to suffer their behaviour. So, I might sound miserable but I’m really not. We all pay a lot of money to come to these places and enjoy ourselves in a way that pleases us, but is it really acceptable these days to impose yourself on other people like this, either indoors or around the pool areas? It is definitely one nationality that seems to find it more acceptable than others so maybe it is deemed ok in that country?? Am curious to find out if it is just me that dislikes this sort of behaviour or are people happy to put up with it?

Money well invested into a family vacation.

Daniel G on Jul 18, 2024

We had been planning and saving for this trip for about a year. It was our first time going to Moon Palace The Grand, and it exceeded our expectations for an all inclusive resort. Great food, great and very diverse entertainment for the entire family. We stayed there for 8 days and 7 nights and we didn’t get to see it all, but what we experienced was more than enough for us to decide to go back soon. One of the things that stood out the most was their staff. Everyone, I mean everyone was always willing, and would go out of their way to help. I recommend this resort 100%.

A great place for kids or grandkids, literally anything to eat or drink.

larrywcpa (Saint Louis, Missouri) on Jul 17, 2024

So much fun, not sure why there are any negative reviews. Our two kids, their spouses and four grandkids spent a week there. Waterpark was especially a big hit as were the fun rooms and game rooms. Food was phenomenal. Between the three resorts, we have access to over a dozen places to eat. Something to eat for everybody. the whole family enjoyed my wife's game of everyone. Had to try something new every day, which was easy with the variety of things they have. The key to a successful trip is downloading the app and making all of your reservations through it, it also made refilling the mini and refilling anything else we needed very easy. The rooms were incredibly spacious and very nice. Their golf cart transportation system was great, take it from one point to almost any other point, very easy to get around.

Great experience

Tammy F on Jul 15, 2024

We enjoyed our time at Moon Palace. The service was great and our room was clean. All of the workers were nice and helpful. Anything that we asked for they made sure we had it. My children loved the playrooms and the water parks. Overall, we had a great time and cannot wait to go back next year.
