Bad taste felt

Our room was nice, very far from the main area but close to adult pool area. They close beach access at 8 pm said crocdilles may come out. The food was really bad everwhere we went. We booked 12 days here but were told 3 hours before boarding our flight that the hotel was closing on the 16th. So we only got 3 days here, enough time to know we will never return. The beach is gone, the rooms need updating and the food i cant say enough bad things about the food. I went on vacation and lost weight.

Beware of service after booking - Hotel closed on us

My family is booked to arrive at this hotel Oct 25. The website says it is closed until the 26th. I have called x 4 and emailed x 4 with no confirmation of rebooking or info. The sister hotel next door also looks closed on the 25th. Barcelo .com call center x 3 says they have nothing to do with it (???) and call the hotel. The hotel put me on hold, transferred me to numbers that rang out and when I got a person they said they had no idea what was happening (for real). We travel in 4 weeks. Soooo disappointed in the service and communication. Could not recommend ANY Barcelo hotel due to their complete lack of service once your booking is made. I tried the US Barcelo.com number and the one in Spain...same story, can't help...was told call Mexico (to a hotel which is closed), and they "can't process a refund or a re-booking elsewhere"....I kid you not. Never again.

Choose another Hotel

The staff was excellent - EVERYTHING else needs improvement. The facilities are dated and worn. Even the lamp shade was painted instead of being replaced and it still showed rust around the rim. The air conditioning is loud and runs constantly to attempt to make temperature. The WiFi is spotty and inconsistent. My room was covered in mold and mildew which led to and is still wreaking havoc on my immune system. The food was 85 percent of the time off temperature which led to bacteria in standing food and my gastrointestinal issues. I don’t understand how food that is served immediately is cold! I did not like eating while sweating. It ruined my appetite and made the meal unpleasant. The air conditioning in ALL RESTAURANTS was POOR at best. The free kayaking was at your own peril because I was sent out in a kayak that was KNOWN to be cracked and took on water and almost sunk within 32 minutes. Why was that kayak given to me? There is no beach. That was not disclosed before my arrival. I am glad that the hotel shut down the day after I left. It REALLY needs a lot of work. Again - the staff was exceptional, what the had to work with was disappointing

The curtains don’t match the carpet

Itzel Alor at the front desk was very nice. She made sure to answer all of our questions and give us amazing tips for the island. Additionally she helped us navigate our dinner reservations to accommodate the activities we had planned. In fact, I would say the staff is 5 star all around from the cleaning people, to the towel folks, the servers, the concierge… everyone was incredibly nice, welcoming and accommodating. We also really liked our room We were disappointed that the pictures did not match the resort. There was little to no beach and the ocean is slowly reclaiming the pool. The various decorative pools and fountains were in disrepair throughout the resort. We loved the buffet by the front desk area. The food was amazing We did not care for the restaurant by the ocean for the buffet nor for dinner. That food was often cold for dinner. We also loved the sit down Mexican restaurant. Finally there were a ton of these raccoon things that would chase you if you had food. It was terrifying

Absolutely THE WORST Barcelo Resort

Birthday trip planned 6 months in advance arrived Not a true All Inclusive has only 2 restaurants advertise 7 only 2 bars that are only open12-5pm No working toilet bugs infested in the room No running water left after 4 days of an 11 day trip STAFF Nodia and Gabriella would do nothing to help or accommodate us absolutely worst customer service Barcelo was not doing anything but harassing us to purchase a vacation club -
