LOVELY sandy beach to walk into the ocean. No reef right there, but snorkel trips available right from their onsite pier.

Everything about this stay was amazing. The scuba diving alone was worth the trip — visibility was awesome and the whole excursion was so well run. If you're even a little into diving, do not skip this. Food was incredible the entire time, especially at the reservation restaurants. And the drinks?? On point. Never had a bad one - except they had Pepsi products, not Coke. Honestly, the whole vibe of the place was just relaxing and romantic, exactly what I needed. Staff were great too, always around when you needed something but never hovering. Left feeling totally recharged and already thinking about when I can go back. If you want a trip that's got adventure, amazing food, and just an overall great vibe, this is the spot.

Beautiful location, beautiful Beach, beautiful rooms. Good needs to majorly improve. Buffet was terrible.

Rooms were not well maintained and lights didn’t work. They allowed a group of men on site to sell counterfeit tequila labeled at 34%. When we tried to quietly return the bottles they were aggressive and insulting. The next day we ordered room service and had hand sharpened chicken bones out in our food. I went and spoke to the manager who said they only use boneless chicken breasts and that should not have happened, which clearly tells me that it was done on purpose. Could have died and they offered half assed apologies that were far from sincere and no compensation for the attempt on our lives. Also, the reefs are ruined here now and everyone tries to hustle you out of your money instead of it being an affordable fun time like it used to be.

We had a group of nine and couldn’t be happier with the Occidental. The service was amazing. The staff went out of their way to assure we were taken care of every day. The food and drinks were delicious, the rooms clean and roomy, and the beach and pool were perfect. The dock is convenient for divers! Great stay, we will be back!
