Nice but disappointing

The staff was wonderful can’t say enough about them. The resort was a bit run down not to Sandals standards. The pool bar pool was always dirty with leaves and debris. The Pina Colata machine was broken and no one attempted to fix or replace it. The pool tile was broken. The dress code wasn’t followed. No photographer on our side. When I saw one on the Hop he said he would meet us at Valentino’s and went by us even after I said “oh hi”. Don’t be mistaken I had a great time, relaxed, and enjoyed great food but didn’t live up to what I have been accustomed too.

Buyer Beware - False Advertising

Where to begin.. Let’s just do a Good and a Bad listing and hope this helps save someone from booking here like we did. Good - Soy /French Restaurants - Spa - massage - Butlers had their good days and bad days - no consistency Bad - Entire property is “worn”. This place was probably great 15-18 years ago. - Nothing in our first room worked. We paid alot for the hillside Butler Honeymoon suite. We had to be moved because our hot tub had no water and making loud noises - Cats everywhere. We literally counted 10 cats near us while trying to eat at the Manor House. Cats jumping on dining tables.. - There is ZERO beach. If anyone tells you otherwise they’re lying. 40 chairs laid out with a 30 yard stretch of sand near a pier. Other than the restaurants listed above, they’re slow and the food is a Holiday Inn buffet taste. - Poolside cabanas cost extra and the material was usually ripped or torn in large places, half had ceiling fans and the other half look like they’d been ripped out - You must take a shuttle bus to get to the lower end of property (beach side) versus Hillside which means if you want to see the whole property then you’re riding a bus a good part of the day. - Zero night activities. You typically have the Rabbit Hole/Speakeasy and that’s it. To wrap up…. it’s basically false advertising. The pictures are NOT ACCURATE. They’re renovating a portion of the hillside rooms, Kelly’s Dockside restaurant is not open because the decking has collapsed. There are lots of Sandals properties to go to, this isn’t one I would ever come back to.

Amazing Vacation

So we just returned on Saturday from a 6 night stay and let me say that we had an amazing time. After we booked we read many negative reviews and as far as I can tell you not one of those reviews were correct. The resort is really nice and very easy to navigate. We had no problems getting loungers on the beach or at the pools. Towels were plentiful all the staff were very friendly and very professional. All our meals were amazing and making reservations for the restaurants that required them were not an issue at all. The drinks were all made great. We had a luxury level room this time as it was a last minute trip. We usually do club level and have never done butler. Our room was 3109 on the first floor. We overlooked the gardens. The bed was super comfy and the pillows were great. The room was modern and housekeeping did an amazing job every day. We were located on the beach side. We visited the hillside part of the resort which is directly across the street and a 2 minute ride on the Hop which comes every 10 minutes. Definitely you have to check out the Rabbit Hole it's a great time. Entertainment was really good and the saxophonist was amazing. Make sure not to miss him. All in all it was another amazing time. The only things that could use improvement are they need to have more umbrellas at the beach for people who really can't handle the sun for hours at a time. Other than that there are no negative things I can say about Sandals Ochi. Can't wait until our next Sandals Adventure

Please do not spend your hard earned money on this hotel. Our room was in the main hotel and was tired, dirty and very old. 50% of the staff were rude unless you tip them. Something Sandals do not approve of. The hotel has alot of renovation to do and staff are as tired as the hotel. There were leeks in hallways, toilets did not have working locks on them and the food was not I call 5 Star. Sandals has lost its ethos of luxury and there are other hotels cheaper and as good, if not better to stay at. Please do not waste your money as you will be disappointed.

This well deserved review is long overdue. I HUGE shoutout to the employees that made our stay memorable with laughs, hugs, friendliness, excellent customer service and kindness when it came to accommodating Celiac. Natasha, La-Donna, Jodionn and the cooks at the Tapas restaurant were incredible - they were the reason we went back there daily, not only for the food but for the smiles and kindness! KeMarley, Aquila for the fun nightlife and laughs at the Polo Lounge, Brittany & Joel for the great conversations and awesome Connect Four skills, Donald at the pool bar near the watersports for his calm demeanor and good stories and Dwayne in water sports is the best to go sailing with and have a good time! When it came to the memorable Epic photos, do them! Alex, keel, Davie, Ricardo, Renaldo and Camille are fabulous!!! Jamaica is one of our favorite places because of the people, culture, warmth and beauty - not for the "fanciness" and all the Americanized amenities. Keep it real and pure! Some of the other restaurants were not very friendly and didn't seem to want to accommodate food allergies and Celiac. Keep these AMAZING employees happy and treat them well, they are diamonds in the rough these days!!! If they are happy and shine from the soul, the customers will feel it and know it. Thank you for a great stay! We miss all those names that are listed and we do hope they receive recognition for their pure awesomeness!!!
