A long way away but well worth the visit-We have good memories

The bald guy a (England) on Jul 04, 2025

This review is written by a British Couple in late adolescence and had time during the 15 hour of flights back to UK to consolidate their thoughts. The staff at the hotel were generally good and in some areas exceptional, we would like to highlight the housekeeping who cleaned our room every day, the staff in reception and the staff in the hotel bar, all were very helpful and very attentive to our needs. The staff in the buffet were less so. The food in the buffet was adequate and sometimes good we never went hungry but we have been spoilt in the past at other Mexican based hotels which provided better food choices and better service. One thing that did annoy me slightly was that there was never a small bowl and spoons located any where near the yogurt at breakfast. We did try the restaurants and the service and the food were two steps up from the buffet, and well worth a visit. The location of the hotel is ideal, it is only a 10 peso /10 minute bus ride to the highlights of Puerto Vallarta (PV). The grounds around the pool area are full of well kept plants and trees, we saw humming birds flitting around the flowering shrubs. As mentioned the beach is pebbles but I did fine a sandy stretch nearby and swan in the sea a couple of time. Our room on the about the 7th floor good, clean and comfortable, the view was spectacular. It was quiet, the beds were good, the sleep as undisturbed and the housekeeping was excellent. The hotel is very clean and maintained well, we had no problems and it is very professionally run by it's management staff who do an excellent job. One thing that you should take in to account when booking this hotel from UK is that the majority of hotel users are Mexican, some American, and you should not expect a British style of experience, as we found our beef stew or roast chicken is standard breakfast food in Mexico. As matter of fact we were the first Brits to go there this season. This hotel may give a more authentic Mexican experience, PV is definitely very Mexican. Overall the hotel is excellent but is let by the buffet, one thing I would say is that if you want something that is not on display you can always ask. We were pleasantly surprised. Away from the hotel our flights to PV took us via Dallas / Fort Worth Airport on the way out and via Los Angeles on the back, both added to the holiday experience. Don't forget to visit the Botanical Gardens, a great day out. We would rate the hotel good.

Sheraton Buganvilias (Sheraton Robanvilias)

Jose C (La Mesa, California) on Jun 30, 2025

Avoid at All Costs - A Truly Awful Experience If I could give zero stars, I would. Our stay at the Sheraton Buganvilias in Puerto Vallarta was, without a doubt, the single worst hotel experience of our lives. From the moment we tried to check in until our infuriating departure, the entire vacation was a cascade of disappointments, unprofessionalism, and outright disrespect. The trouble began with the promotions they offered to get us in the door. We arrived with confirmation of certain perks and discounts, none of which the front desk had any intention of honoring. They were dismissive of our proof, and it set a terrible tone for the rest of the stay. We had a scorpion in our room, prompting pest control to come in and spray harmful chemicals in our room, asking us not to return for 2 hours instead of changing our room. We had to air out the room ourselves and spent an uncomfortable time outside. The real kicker, however, was the checkout process. The staff member handling our departure was not just unhelpful, but shockingly rude and condescending, treating our legitimate complaints as if they were an inconvenience to her day. The service across the resort was a masterclass in mediocrity. We witnessed wait staff openly mocking guests and laughing about service incidents among themselves. There was a clear and frustrating divide in work ethic; older, more seasoned waiters were constantly rushing around, picking up the slack for their younger, less-motivated colleagues who seemed more interested in chatting than serving. This was most apparent at the main pool bar, where the bartender, Adan, was the epitome of lazy and inattentive. We would sit with empty glasses for ages while he did his best to avoid eye contact. We were only able to get consistent drinks because a waiter from another section, a gentleman named Rodrigo, saw our frustration and went out of his way to serve us, even though it wasn't his station. Or whenever Rolando was working, picking up his slack. The most disgusting behavior came from the activities staff. One staff member in particular, a woman named Juana, was openly rude and displayed clear prejudice towards guests based on their ethnicity, making snide remarks and treating certain families with contempt. It was unprofessional and created a hostile atmosphere. The dining experience was a monotonous letdown. Every restaurant seemed to have the same core ingredients, just presented in slightly different ways. We had the same proteins for dinner night after night. To add insult to injury, it was painfully obvious that they were recycling the previous night's dinner leftovers into the next day's breakfast buffet. The "beef, fish, and chicken" in the breakfast bar containers was suspiciously identical to the beef from the dinner service. Finally, do not be fooled by the pictures of the beach. It is not a sandy paradise. The shoreline is covered in painful river rocks, sharp pebbles, and we even saw pieces of glass. It is completely unwalkable without sturdy water shoes, making a relaxing stroll by the ocean impossible. This resort is an embarrassment to the Sheraton brand. The poor service, repetitive food, and unusable beach made for a miserable vacation. Save your money and your sanity, and book literally anywhere else.
