We had a fantastic time at this resort! The staff was amazing especially Dennis Rodman, Felix, Yeremy, Cinnamon, and Cappuccino! Our family had the best time, and we will definitely return.

The hotel itself being the grounds pool and beach are lovely and well kept. Majority of the staff are lovely attentive. Bellimina a waitress from the buffet stood out especially as she was so lovely towards our 7 month old daughter in fact all the staff were but I couldn’t remember everyone’s names. Cappucinco the new member of the entertainment team was so friendly and western at the beach bar was so lovely. We were in a premium swim up pool. When we arrived we asked our butler Franklin if we could swap rooms as the pool was right next to a bridge and the outside of the room had all broken up grass where it had been trodden over so it wasn’t a great view or entrance to the pool but we moved rooms and the outside was lot better more grass and better entry to the pool. The rooms themselves are damp dated and dirty. I am clean freak especially with a 7 month old I am worried about germs. There was what looked like milkshake or foundation all over the tv. The gloss headboards were stained and covered with handprints. The sole ear being the taps etc had lots of limsecale build up, there were stains all over the sink, the floors felt sticky. The cleaning staff are lovely but the rooms are a reason I wouldn’t return. Franklin was there for all our needs and couldn’t fault him. The breakfast buffet has a good selection of food which I enjoyed but the rest of the food in the buffet for the day was very much the same I just stuck to salad and pasta most evenings, the beach food hut has burgers, hotdogs, nachos and chips which was really good. The restaurants are nice to try out but nothing special we tried the steakhouse, Italian and Mediterranean as it was nice to switch it up rather than the buffet but I would say the food is just average. It was a lovely holiday and I believe the staff make it as they are so lovely and evening walks around the hotel are nice but I wouldn’t return due to the hygiene of the rooms and also how dated they are.

Fantastic experience. It has been our third time back to this resort and we get the best customer service. Leo was our butler and he was fantastic! Highly recommend! We had the room with a private plunge pool, we get to at room type every time. It’s worth the upgrade, it’s in great location to all restaurants and the beach!

After tons of research, I chose this resort for a family vacation. However, when making the reservation I found out that the maximum occupancy is 3 adults per room. We have two older teenagers, who are considered adults. Therefore, we would have to book two separate rooms, which is cost prohibitive. Just a warning to those in a similar situation!

My husband and I originally booked our Honeymoon at a resort down the road from Dreams Onyx; Excellence El Carmen. We left after only 24 hours because the food was inedible, the room was unsanitary, and we felt concern for our overall well-being. Thanks to the generosity and care of complete strangers, we were able to book a room at Dreams Onyx instead and headed over there full of hope but a little jaded from our previous experience at Excellence. From the moment we walked in we felt relieved and welcome. Check in was a breeze and our butler Henry gave us top notch service our entire stay. The food was very good for an all Inclusive, the grounds and pools were beautiful, the staff were friendly, and the entertainment was great! Highly recommended becoming a premier member (I think that’s what it’s called). We were technically guests of preferred members so we received that status as well and man were we grateful for it. We spent most of our time by the adults only pool which had a premium swim up bar. We rented a bed by the pool for my husband’s birthday and it was perfect. Oh and be sure to stop by the “Splash Bar” to see the bartender Rosibely. Ask her nicely if you can have some of her Mamajuana. It’s wonderful. And so is she! This resort is perfect for couples and families alike.
