Very happy with my visit. I think people on these apps can be overly critical. Stayed here for 8 nights for my honeymoon and with flights included paid $2,400 for everything which was an awesome deal. They had rose petals and origami on our bed when we got there and I also happened to be staying over my birthday and without me telling them about it, they left a personalized dessert in my room. I was very impressed. The pools are massive and property didn’t seem too crowded. Bars were plenty, drinks were good, and service was good. Christobaugh went above and beyond in providing us service. Food is pretty good with 6 restaurants to choose from so you don’t get bored of the food. Also there is a restaurant that does buffet three meals a day so good fall back option. If beaches are your big thing, playa del Carmen in general is not a very nice beach: massive pools with activities made up for it. Activities during the day were fun, but night activities didn’t feel super exciting. (A projector screen by the pool would be an awesome addition). When I was there crowd was mostly 40 and over but made plenty of friends in their late 20’s so just heads up. Loved my stay hopefully this helps people get a general idea. No issues. I would also recommend doing an excursion while you’re here to get the most out of your trip, I did the Tulum ruins, ATV riding, and cenote swimming for $300 for 2 people and it was totally worth the money.

Great hotel. Not too big which keeps it friendly and personal. Food very good. Facilities very good. Nice beach with plenty of sunbeds. Rooms nice and very clean. Huge thanks to Vivi for helping us arrange a surprise birthday for a special friend. Vivi gave us lots of good advice and was a pleasure to chat to. Had a very good massage from Suemi in the spa. Thanks to all the staff.

My wife and I had a deeply disappointing experience at Ocean Maya Royale. From the moment we arrived, it was clear we were being treated differently as Black guests. Despite tipping generously, we were often ignored by staff. One particular bartender skipped over me to serve a group of white guests who had just arrived, and when I finally got his attention, he treated me as if I was an inconvenience. This dismissive attitude wasn’t an isolated incident, as we continued to face subtle but frequent disrespect throughout our stay. The issues didn’t stop at poor bar service. After hearing great things about the Privilege Package, we upgraded, expecting better treatment and more amenities. Unfortunately, this only led to more frustration. The butler service was not worth the additional fee as they not responsive and at times rude. The golf cart driver refused to take us to the correct restaurant and made us walk through the grass to avoid puddles after the rain. Our taco tour was another disaster. We arrived early, only for the shuttle to leave without us, and staff lied about calling our names. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. The worst experience came during check-out when we were held up over two premium shots we didn’t order, nearly causing us to miss our flight. The shots were given to us by friends, yet the staff insisted we pay and wouldn't let us leave until we settled the bill. After a week of patience and trying to overlook the consistent poor treatment, this was the final straw. I cannot recommend Ocean Maya Royale to anyone and hope management addresses these serious issues.

My husband and I choose OMR for our honeymoon...and we are so pleased we did ?? The resort is stunning: the grounds are beautiful and well cared for, there are 8 rooms in each villa style buildings which are spread out through the grounds, the 2 pools are clean and lovely, 1 pool has 2 bars close by and the other is the fun pool with a swim up bar, the rooms are modern, spacious and airy, they have a clothes steamer, hair dryer and the usual bathroom toiletries, all of the 5 restaurants have amazing food with many staff taking care of everyone, the sea is only a stones throw from the beach loungers, from the beach we walked the 15mins to the lagoon..well worth it ?? There is 1 shop in the lobby which has some clothing, holiday gifts and a small stock of personal items ie: sun creams, medicines, phone cables etc. There is Mikes coffee shop serving coffee, tea, filled rolls and cakes, The Ice Cream bar by the main pool, a main bar in the lobby which has many relaxed seating areas, a spa upstairs with a gym, spa facilities and hair salon, a ATM in the lobby and evening entertainment which is different every night of the week, they also run many day time activities. We booked our trip to Tullum and the Senotes with Margarita, who is based at the Dive kiosk by the pool where you can book many different trips, and she wonders around the pool sides, she was amazing..as was our trip. We had a wedding photo shoot whilst there, and we choose Carlos to be our photographer, he has a office in the lobby and he is an amazing person...our photos and album he printed overnight for us are stunning ???? The weather was mixed, we had hot sunshine everyday with cloudy intervals, we also experienced 3 thunderstorms in 10 days, 2 only last 10 mins each whilst 1 lasted all day. We even enjoyed them ?????? There were no security issues or anyone suffering with a dodgy tummy, the staff were all so good. We loved every minute of our stay at OMR.xx.

Ocean Maya Royale is a beautiful resort with a relaxing vibe all around. It’s a perfect getaway for adults. But the best part is not the stunning scenery, beautiful and clean rooms, or delicious food - it’s the staff. My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here and the staff made it extra special. As Privilege guests, we had excellent service all throughout. Our personalized butler, Juan, was kind and friendly all through the stay and so very responsive. He made sure to answer all of our questions via WhatsApp immediately and provided us with everything we needed and more. He was a highlight. Additionally, our server David and the captain Jorge took care of us during our special anniversary dinner on the beach. They were so thoughtful and treated us like royalty. They made the dinner extra special. The staff also set up flower petals and a hot tub for us on our anniversary and wrote a sweet anniversary note. We will definitely be back and hope to see Juan, Jorge and David again.
