The beaches were beautiful. The people of Cuba were amazing.

This was our best holiday ever. The staff was amazing. Nailet Morales was kind and very friendly. A great worker in the dining room. The staff were always nice and friendly, willing to help us make our trip to Cuba a great experience. Will plan on coming back to Cuba in the near future.

Nailet Sierra Morales was one of the servers in the buffet restaurant. She was amazing! Made us feel like family. We saw that she made every guest she greeted feel very comfortable and welcome. Alway had a smile for everyone. We had a great experience with all of the staff.

Bella vista

Carlie C on Apr 10, 2024

We booked our trip a couple days before leaving as our other vacation was canceled. For being last minute it wasn't horrible. If I were to visit Varadeo Cuba again i would either upgrade to prestige at bella vista or choose a different hotel/ resort. Our 1st day we got there late as we had a late flight. The staff at the reception weren't very friendly, they were very distracted and speaking Spanish amoungts eachother the whole time. We had no direction on where anything was and felt like we were a burden if we had any questions. I asked how much it would be to upgrade to the Prestige ( Adults only) they said 20$/each per day cash or $27 something US on a credit card (ouch!) Thats just for adults only. If you want a swim out room is 45 domething each person each night. Also i advise you take a beach towel or you can pay a deposit of $30 each towel. We decided to not upgrade at this point. After checking in we went up to our room. As soon as you open the door it smelled like mold/ and mildew. Yes there was mold on the ceiling & walls ( isn't this normal in Cuba?) The A/C was nice and cold though. My spouse & I were hungry so we figured we would visit the 24hr snack bar- he ordered a hamburger and I ordered a hot dog. We had no idea what kind of meat the 'hamburger' was, portion was very small. Food- Cuba isn't known for the food, we lucked out and had fresh eggs & bread every morning we were there. There is lots of pasta, bread & rice at all meals. I'm not sure if there is a certain time that fruits and vegetables are in season there however they weren't very ripe/ didn't have much taste. Everything was very bland tasting. Be sure to take condiments if you choose. Many tourists were rude and would butt in front ( you can order a la carte or maybe even upgrade to prestige to avoid) Beach- Bella Vista has a beautiful beach, there weren't any rocks/ seaweed that you had to go through at shore/ in water. The water was beautiful and warm. One pet peeve is that it was soooo difficult to find a place to sit in a lounge chair because people had 'reserved ' them by placing their towels on them and that was pretty much all day every day. Pool- we visited the pool that had the bar ( adults only?) There were many kids in there- they would splash you every now and then ?? however it was nice to be able to sit in the pool bar and enjoy your day. There is another pool that I think is meant for families/ kids aswell as a splash pad area. Bathrooms- ALWAYS TAKE TOILET PAPER/ KLEENEX in public washrooms as there wasn't a single piece at one point there was staff handing it out ( like 2 squares ??) this includes everywhere in Cuba not just your resort. Lobby bar- this is the place to go for your coffee, cappuccino, Frappuccino & espresso martini. Nice little bar to chill and meet new people. Around 630ish there was music- piano and singing. The theater ??- we were never directed/ advised about anything by staff.... ( we met someone and asked) like events however every night @ 9:30 pm there is something going on whether it's dancing, live music, or magic show. Be sure to arrive early and grab your drinks at the bar! Yes there is a spa that does have Massage/ braids and a gym. Japanese restaurant- we did this our last night. Wanted a change from the same food in buffet. It was ok. They have you choose between 2 entrees. Sushi or something else ( idk the name, it was like fried air things) then they made a egg/ rice/ cabbage/ squid/ chicken stir fry on grill in front of you. Then you have 2 choices of dessert. Housekeeping- our room wasn't cleaned everyday, I had to ask for clean towels a couple of times out of 7 days. Yes we had toilet paper in rooms and our bed was changed 1 day of our 7 day stay. Bella Vista had a gift shop, currency exchange, and a couple little clothing booths. There are elevators however most the time they don't work or you're waiting 10 minutes for one. Tips: If you take a cab make sure you ask how much before getting in and which currency and make sure that if you say to a certain place they take you to that certain place not somewhere else. Stay with your people that you went with. ?? The currency that I recommend taking to Cuba would be US & CANADIAN. We exchanged a little bit for cuban pesos, as we were told anywhere would accept it.... that WASN'T the case..... we found many places wouldn't take it/ didn't want it. Or they wanted an absurd amount. So if you're gonna exchange some don't do big amounts as you cannot exchange it back to Canadian or US. We started tipping in it just to get rid of some and to save our other cash. To book excursions book before you arrive as it will be cheaper. Bring your own resuable cup/ mug. Bring your own compact beach towel. Through people that we had met, it seemed that if you were to pay more to upgrade you were treated a lot different and had different services. The biggest thing that made us upset was some staff and how they treated us. Our transit to the airport was 45 minutes late and we had no point of contact with anyone as certain phone companies don't work in cuba .... we had asked them numerous times to call our rep and see about getting information. They refused and just shrug their shoulders like it's no big deal then go off talking in a different language ?? " I dunno" is the answer we get majority of the time. I wouldn't say Bella Vista is a 5 ?? resort maybe a 3.0-4.0.

Cuban hospitality at its best!

The Star Prestige staff are top notch! This is why we returned for a second time to this hotel. They made our stay so much fun! Our concierge Diana is the best and catered to all our needs. Also special mention to Deglis and the reception staff. Miss you all already!

20th times in Cuba, so I know what I'm talking about.

Beach: Amazing Pool: clean, but a great lack of chairs. Chairs: Some new, many old and dirty. Sea view room: Clean, incredible view of the sea (Star Prestige), but the door was blocked once in 5, it was incredibly ridiculous. Personal: You can see in their faces that they don't want to work at this hotel. Bar Lobby: No service, lack of staff. Musicians: I haven't seen any musicians in the entire hotel, perhaps with the exception of the evening shows but I can't confirm that, I don't go there. Buffet: Lots of noise, lots of people and not too impressive. Restaurant: Okay Elevators: Only 2 that work. The electrical panels of the elevator are exposed, breaking everything, incredibly ridiculous. Start Prestige: If you go to this hotel take Start Prestige. The rooftop bar and the restaurant are great and excellent, breakfast lunch and dinner, smiling staff, service, number 1, incredible view. I would return to this hotel just for the Start Prestige.
