We had an amazing time at the W Punta Cana! The staff were super helpful and caring, especially Baby A (Angelo). He made a point to see us every day and it really enhanced our experience knowing that the staff truly care about their job. The food was absolutely amazing, we will definitely go back just because of the food alone.
BABY A!!

I can’t rave enough about my stay at the W Punta Cana, and a huge shoutout goes to Baby A. This guy is basically the life of the party and deserves a raise, if not a presidential title. He’s hilarious, full of energy, and made every activity a blast. Honestly, the main reason I returned was because of him! And let’s not forget Johan, he’s another gem at the resort. He’s in charge of some activities as well and brought so much fun and laughter to our stay. Plus, he even made me a cute ornament, which was so thoughtful and really touched my heart. It’s those little gestures that make the experience even more special. The entire team, including Chef Domingo, who served up amazing dishes, made our stay unforgettable. We genuinely enjoyed every moment and can’t wait to return.
Not good

We saw baby Al and he was very nice. The activities and being close to the beach and pool was fun. We had to ask for things that were simple a lot of times which shouldn’t have been that way.
Full of potential, but not yet there

We had an overall good experience at the W Punta Cana, arriving on Christmas day and leaving just before New Year's Eve. We were traveling with our two young adult children. The room was clean and well kept, with consistent housekeeping and restocking. The gym was crowded but had a good amount of equipment. We had no trouble making dinner reservations on the app, and were able to try each restaurant. We did not enjoy the food in the buffet, and found Scena and Noodle Bar to be the best for our group. The coffee shop was excellent, although the coffee was never very hot. Michael in the Living Room was great, and so were Carlos and Victor at the swim up bar. The resort felt very empty. We were never in a full restaurant, and often times we were the only people at a bar or in a space. Although this is nice, it just felt weird in what should have been a busy season. The biggest negative of the trip was the severe lack of chairs on the beach and at the pool, and the resort's tolerance of people claiming the chairs by sunrise and not showing up again until noon or later. It was frustrating to actually want to be at the pool or on the beach around 9:00 am, and not having a seat available at all, or having to sit in a seat without shade when dozens of shaded seats sat empty for hours. On our last day a sign was put up that unattended items would be removed after 40 minutes, but we did not see this being enforced. For a luxury resort, this was a daily frustration that will make me choose another resort for our next trip. There was also ample room on the beach for many more chairs that could have helped to lessen this problem. One day we rented a cabana at the pool to avoid the chair debacle, but I resent having to spend almost $400 just to have a seat without a fight! This resort has a lot of potential, and I hope they can fix this for the future.
Nice resort but hard to justify the value

Resort was clean and staff were friendly, but for the price we didn’t see enough value. We were put in the wrong room the first night (booked ocean view but couldn’t see the ocean and we arrived when it was already dark). Made up for it in part by putting us in a nicer ocean view room, but had a hard time fixing a few items in the room. We don’t go to all inclusive resorts for the food and this was no exception. Food was just ok at their buffet and beach side restaurants. Better food was at the restaurants where you needed reservations which were nearly impossible to come by, especially when you arrive at night and miss that evenings and the next evenings dinner booking openings. Beach was nice enough. Harder sand vs sugar sand given your on the ocean vs Caribbean. And if you go off property on the beach it turns into a landfill (especially towards the east). Both pools are nice. Wet deck pool was too cold to swim in, even in 80 degree weather. Many guests asked them if they could heat it but to no avail. Chill pool was a bit warmer but everyone flocked to the hot tubs, which is hilarious in 80 degrees. They also kept running out of clean towels at the pool for some reason. We booked a special offer that included a $1000 resort credit which was a complete joke. Our fault for not reading the fine print perhaps, but you can only use $250 per day max and most things you could apply the credit towards had crazy restrictions (ie the spa would only let you credit $70 per day max, even for two people). So it was impossible to actually use the full credit, which seems to me like legit scam. Anyway, the resort was nice overall and had some good amenities, just didn’t provide the value we expected, especially when considering the so-called resort credit.
