Beautiful pool with gorgeous view but not everything was perfect.
Esti L (Toronto, Canada) on Mar 06, 2026
There are lots of positives about this resort but unfortunately there were far too many issues to give it the 5 star review I would have hoped to give. Rooms: - The rooms are very nice, clean and well appointed - We had a beautiful room with a nice view but there are a lot of rooms that won’t have nice views. Many rooms will be facing a dirt road. - There are no snacks in the room mini-bar which was surprising especially compared to other all-inclusives that have lots of snack in the rooms. I went to the gift shop to see if snacks could be purchased - a small container of pringles was $9US! Pools: - The main pool has a spectacular view. Infinity edge pool overlooking the beach. It can get a bit loud with music and pool games throughout the day. - The “chill pool” is also very nice and mostly quiet. One day they closed the main pool for a private function and guests had a choice of the beach or the “chill pool” which had loud blaring music ALL day. So no quiet pool to sit at that day. - There are plenty of pool/beach cots and towels Food: - The food overall was very good but the food selection is limited. - There are 5 dinner restaurants on the property and 2 require reservations that are very hard to get. The app to make dinner reservations doesn’t work properly. On 2 separate nights we made reservations only to be told that the restaurant was actually closed! Most nights only 2-3 restaurants were open so not a large selection to choose from. Resort: - Resort is new and very pretty - It’s small enough to walk anywhere in a few short minutes Gym: - Gym has all new equipment - It’s very clean. Someone was wiping down the equipment after each use plus extra wipes if you want to clean it yourself - There is no studio to do stretching or your own workout. - Not much space in the gym to work out on a mat. No light weights. Weights start at 4kg. No blocks or balls to work out with. Mostly just equipment and heavy weights. Activities: - There are lots of activities throughout the day. Cooking and mixology classes. Tarot card readings. Yoga, pool games etc. You can keep as busy as you want to be. Staff: - staff were all friendly and tried very hard to be helpful. Often the language barrier was frustrating. Bugs: - We read the reviews about people getting bug bites. We spoke to people who were complaining about lots of bites and others who had no bites at all. Unfortunately I had lots of very itchy bites by the end of our trip.
W Punta Cana Delivered — Amazing Service, Fantastic Food, and One of Our Most Memorable Resort Stays
Lee S on Mar 04, 2026
Our recent stay at the W Punta Cana was truly fantastic and easily ranks among the most memorable resort experiences we’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the property delivered a wonderful combination of beautiful surroundings, thoughtful service, and attention to detail that made the entire trip feel special. The resort itself is stunning. The design strikes a perfect balance between modern luxury and a relaxed Caribbean atmosphere. The beach is beautiful, the pools are immaculate, and the entire property maintains an energetic yet comfortable vibe. Where the W truly stands out, however, is in the people who work there — or “Talent,” as the W likes to refer to them. Several members of the team went out of their way to elevate our experience. Esther Maldonado deserves special recognition not only for helping coordinate a private tasting dinner for my wife and me on our terrace, but also for serving as our Personal Insider during our stay. Her assistance made every aspect of our visit feel effortless and truly enjoyable. Esther worked closely with the culinary and mixology teams to curate a beautiful evening and thoughtfully timed the courses so that sunset occurred right in the middle of our culinary journey. Her attention to detail and willingness to help create something unique made the evening truly unforgettable. The dinner itself was exceptional. Chef Jorge created and personally presented a seven-course bespoke tasting menu that was creative, beautifully executed, and truly memorable. Each course was thoughtfully prepared and explained, making the evening feel intimate and very special. During the day we also enjoyed several wonderful culinary surprises poolside thanks to Chef Romer from the Wet Deck. At one point he actually sought us out at our loungers to tell us about a special dish he was preparing for us that wasn’t even on the menu. We had not asked for or expected anything like that, which made the gesture all the more thoughtful. The food itself was fantastic, but what really stood out was the pride he clearly takes in his work and the genuine effort he made to create something special for us. Poolside service throughout the trip was outstanding as well. Joselo, Angel, and Jeire were consistently friendly, professional, and full of positive energy. What really made their service stand out was how personal they made the experience. They quickly remembered our names along with the things we liked and didn’t like, which made us feel genuinely welcomed each day. They frequently stopped by our loungers not only to see if we needed anything, but often just to chat and get to know us. That kind of sincere hospitality really added to the relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere around the pool. Another highlight was breakfast at The Market, where Chef Juan Castillo quickly became one of our favorite people at the resort. Each morning he prepared incredible huevos rancheros, and his warm personality and friendly demeanor made the entire breakfast experience even better. Starting the day with great food and great energy set a wonderful tone for the rest of our day. The food and beverage program overall exceeded our expectations. Prior to our stay we were actually quite cautious about this aspect of the resort, as a number of guest reviews we had read cited the food as a significant area of concern, with some even describing it as terrible. I’m happy to report that this was not our experience at all. As a couple who pride ourselves on seeking out unique and exceptional restaurants, we were extremely pleased with most of the meals we enjoyed during our stay. If I had to offer one observation, it would simply be that some curated experiences — such as the private tasting dinner — come at a premium price. That said, when the team executes an experience the way they did for us, the result becomes something truly memorable. All in all, this was a fantastic vacation and one we will remember for a long time. We are incredibly grateful to the staff who helped make it so special, and we would happily return to the W Punta Cana in the future.
My honest review

The aesthetic & property is very modern & sleek So if you are looking for modern and chic this place offers this. A few members of the staff really stood out to me. Anyelo & Karla from cacao root class Anyelo has amazing energy his willingness to attend to your needs and entertain you is really 10/10 so if you stay here make sure you meet him guy will treat you like family. Karla the sous chef at Scena really went out her way to make me feel my culture with my food, I had no idea she was the sous chef during her cacao roots class presentation I was venting to her how I craved authentic Dominican cuisine and she made that possible for me on my last night at the property. Much praise to her. If you are looking for a party/loud atmosphere the W does not provide that once it’s dark it’s time to unwind and relax you will not find teteo here. It’s more live during the day with the classes at the beach and different personalities at wet deck. I would say this resort is for older crowd. The rooms are really nice the room service food wasn’t too impressive and do take a while to answer the phone. Our group made the best out of this stay Made some memories this hotel hasn’t been open a year yet so it’s fairly new and have some work to do to make this establishment great.
Wonderful trip!!

The most amazing vacation! We went for my husbands work trip, and we were allowed to leave the resort due to liability concerns - this had me concerned before we got there as I felt like that could get old and boring but that ended up not being a problem at all! There was SO much to do and so many different activities offered! You seriously don’t even need to leave! Some of the food was just okay, but we absolutely love Scena! It was soooo good. Shout out to Marisol at the SPA! It was the best massage I have ever had! (And I’ve had a lot of massages in my life). She really took her time! I passed out immediately and it felt longer than an hour! (The amount of time we booked). She was wonderful! Great experience all in all, and highly recommend!!

W Punta Cana was great! Great customer Service! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We were really impressed with Diamond, Nova & Jason. They always ensured we were having a great time. The spa was great w/good service too. We loved the options available for food, entertainment, the pools and the beach of course! Need to improve on English speaking staff. We didn't know about excursions available until our last day, we learned this from another couple. Would highly recommend the W.
