Beach is gorgeous and kids obsessed with the kids club
Joanne C on Dec 03, 2025
For us, theeeeee most amazing part of this hotel was the kids club. Seriously, I was shocked when our velcro kids asked to go everyday (for almost the entire day!). It gave hubby and I an unexpected relaxing vacation. Even now at home, they’re still talking about it. For those wondering about swimming at the beach (cuz that was important to us and the reviews were confusing)- the beach is gorgeous if you know where to go! We went at the end of Nov to early Dec and had no seaweed at all. Don’t go to the beach in front of the main pool. That part of the beach is narrow and looked super rocky/lots of coral and not good for swimming. We went to the beach directly in front of grand tortuga a la carte doors (close to the kids swimming areas). It’s a bit rocky when you get right in but then it’s just soft sand and clear water for a huge stretch. Bath temp water. We didn’t use water shoes. At the end of our holiday, the waves were super gentle and our 5 and 6 yo were able to stand and play in the water several meters out. We did not see the beach by the quiet pool on the other side of the property. Kids water slide area was thoroughly enjoyed by our 5 and 6 yo. We tried Coba’s water playground one day and they didn’t like it much. Said it was for babies lol. The bigger slide at coba was fenced off so that may affect their opinion. Food was edible but not amazing. A la made it fun for the kids over the buffet. Rooms were musty and a bit worn down but wasn’t a game changer. Overall we would consider going there again!!
A great place for a week of relaxation

We had a really lovely week here. Pros Beautiful grounds Fresh and tasty food on the buffet at all meals Large room, very clean Entertainment team were lovely and activities were lighthearted and fun Don Pablo meal was very nice Pools well maintained and we always found a nice spot with an umbrella Beach at the quiet pool was immaculate, soft sand, water clear and warm Wildlife in and around the resort was amazing, although the coatis and raccoons do like to raid plates left unattended. But just don’t leave plates unattended. Special mentions: Armando at the quiet pool bar - I’ve never seen a bartender work so quickly and all drinks we had from him were perfectly made, Caipirinhas especially. Edwin in the main restaurant - a big smiling welcome every morning and lunchtime, we felt very welcome and were looked after beautifully Cons The room smelt musty all day every day. Perhaps unavoidable in the climate but it was a bit unpleasant. This is the main reason for four, not five stars. Our a la carte at the Mikado restaurant ( not teppanyaki) was really terrible. Poor service, dreadful food, we wished we had gone to the buffet instead. We had a ground floor room and the terrace felt exposed to people walking around the resort so we didn’t use it.
