Paradisus La Perla Feb 19-26, 2026 Couples Review

David M (Calgary, Canada) on Feb 27, 2026

We are Melia Circle members and checked into the resort for February 19-26. We had an excellent time and enjoyed our stay very much. The restaurants were mostly excellent, the room, bar, pool and wait staff were for the most part excellent and happy in helping you out with any requests. While we were here we did receive messages of concern about our safety but there was no obvious issues or concerns, given that the problems in Peurto Vallarta were several thousand kilometres to the west. We never had any worries or issues and people reported that the town closest to hear was totally fine, other than the usual salespeople hawking their shops and crafts. Our concierge Jesus Alberto Galindo, was amazing and waited for us to show up after the usual baggage fiascos at Cancun airport thus our late arrival to the hotel after 6 pm after landing at 3:25 on a Westjet flight. He booked us into restaurants or evening receptions on all the nights so no stress on our part. Room: We had a ground floor room in the Reserve section, and the room was very nice with a large lounge area and large patio with an outdoor tub, hammock and two rocking chairs. Patio was nice on the windy afternoons or cooler days. Room attendants were excellent, but the mini-bar service was a bit slow, but we were only a short walk to the Reserve Lounge, with a selection of treats, appetizers and drinks all during the day and evening. One precaution is to always lock your patio door, as we closed it one night and discovered a very large Coati was sitting at our room table slurping up some of the leftover appetizers we had brought to the room after he was able to slide open the door. Our patio was in fact a bit of an animal highway, as the coatis and racoons would regularly run past us sitting out there, and react with surprise. Beach and pools: Pools were nice and we spent two days at the quieter Reserve pool but most days we headed to the beach. Amazing Angelo at the reserve towel cabana ensured that we had access to a Palapa close to the ramp as my wife is recovering from knee replacement so we had a nice spot to relax and enjoy the ocean. The sargasso was pretty much constant but the beach crews were always working to take it up and move it. There are lots of loungers and cabana's on the beach. We walked the beach most days. Water was pretty warm but section directly in front of the Reserve area was rocky. The public beach south and the family beach north were better but water shoes are well worth it and highly recommended. Restaurants My wife is allergic/anaphylactic with shellfish so we found all the restaurants were accommodating, but some of the communications were a bit dubious at times. Previously we had a little laminated card we could put on the table which immediately made clear of the potential for an issue, and this would be a good standard to have for those with food allergies. We had breakfast and most lunches at Sante which is only for reserve members and really liked the pancakes with a side of bacon. Staff were pleasant (Adriana and Antonio were excellent) and service was good at Sante. Our other lunches would be at Fahrenheit where the food was good but service could be slow and sometimes non-existent. Better communication with guests may solve some of the issues encountered at Fahrenheit. Tokimeku had a very good selection of excellent sushi , various rolls, and marvellous service from the staff. Our next dinner at Cielo consisted of a variety of Mexican dishes and was okay. The meal at Capella's was very good Italian food and Adrian was excellent as our waiter. We had a Melia event on the Sunday evening for their new program launch and golf at Kanna with lots of Mexican food and mescalita's and had a great time outdoors. There were a few raindrops but nothing to interrupt the party, and they had a Marquesitas cart at the event, which made very thin crispy crepes with nutella and sliced banana (or you could get cheese and strawberry jam). These were fantastic. We dined at Lemonfish for Peruvian food and enjoyed a nice bottle of rose wine. Our waiter was Angel and was very good. The Mediterranean restaurant was Flora, and we had our only issue here as I think the lemon slices requested for my wife's salmon had been grilled on the same grill as the prawns, and this caused a reaction for my wife. The waiter was aware of the allergy but another person brought over the lemon slices so obviously mid communication. Our final dinner at La Perla was at Sal the steak cave. Eduardo was very good as a waiter and brought us a special dessert to mark our anniversary. Departure: Our check-out process was smooth and easy, and the included hotel transportation via Otium Tours was very good, and the driver was both polite and prompt at getting us to the airport, and was very engaging and funny in his comments. We will definitively return to this resort, and hope that the continued renovations and updates will introduce some more activities like pickleball and sport courts for more adult activities.

Relaxation

Resort was great fun place to be. The choice of food was not to my liking. There was 3 restaurants that were awesome. The rest fell slightly short.

This is a beautiful resort. The staff are amazing! It is a bit costly, most definitely. We were part of large group there for a wedding.

Amazing Vacation!

David N on Feb 27, 2026

Amazing vacation! Accommodations, common areas, food and drink offerings, activities, and more were all first rate. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, but wanted to especially highlight the service and care of Ismael and Sandy at “Bufet Hadar”. They met us on our first morning and knew who we were and what wanted, greeting us on arrival and even setting aside tables for us for the remainder of the week. By the end of our vacation, they almost felt like family! If you are looking for a relaxing all inclusive getaway in Playa del Carmen, I highly recommend Paradisus La Perla. We will be going back!
