This resort small, but the service and location is HUGE. Shout out to all the staff! Special shout out to Gustave, Gerson and Ricardo. THE BEST BEACH SERVERS on the planet! Thanks for making me feel at home ALWAYS!

Very disappointed overall. Poor quality resort needing updating. Not enough beach/pool chairs. Beach just ok. 1 heated pool. 2 other freezing pools. Food just ok. Service decent at times but inconsistent. Restaurants freezing. Room temperature difficult to control and get comfortable. Most too cold. Harassed on the beach all day long with people selling goods. Didn't take no ty for an answer. Walking through the lobby was the same experience trying to sell you something. Been to many Dreams resorts. Very disappointed and will not return, or recommend

We stayed at Dreams Sands Cancun Resort for six nights with my partner and her kids. Overall, this was an average stay, made noticeably better by a handful of outstanding staff members, but ultimately held back by aging rooms, design flaws, and very disappointing food. The service is where this resort truly shines. Isaac, our poolside butler, was friendly, funny, kind, and consistently attentive without ever being intrusive. Luis, who looked after the poolside, beach, and Preferred Area, was exceptional. He was professional, warm, and genuinely took care of us. From securing a Bali bed to making sure we always had chairs when we needed them, he made our beach and pool experience far more enjoyable and stress-free. These two were, without question, the highlight of our stay. A special mention goes to Oscmar and Julio, the concierge managers. Both were patient, professional, accountable, and always available. Julio, in particular, worked hard to resolve our ongoing room issues and did so to the best of his ability, even though many of the problems were clearly tied to the resort’s aging infrastructure rather than simple fixes. The rooms themselves were average and clearly dated. We experienced several issues that required multiple maintenance visits, including a missing balcony door seal. During two very windy days, this caused loud howling noises in the room. Opening the balcony door to reduce the noise only created a louder wind tunnel due to an extremely noisy AC vent. Interestingly, placing a simple pillow at the door gap significantly reduced the noise, confirming it was a seal issue. Julio eventually arranged for the seal to be fixed. We also had ongoing issues with the shower design, where water leaked onto the bathroom floor due to missing seals around the door and bottom. Even after repairs, water continued to leak, which appeared to be a design flaw rather than a maintenance oversight. Additional maintenance was required for the sink drain and vent as well. The food was a major disappointment and one of the weakest parts of this resort, even when compared to other Dreams properties. For guests with dietary restrictions, particularly gluten-free, eating comfortably was difficult and options were very limited. Overall quality, flavor, and consistency fell short of expectations. • World Cafe Buffet – Limited options, small layout, and unremarkable food. • El Patio Mexican – Decent à la carte breakfast and relatively authentic Mexican dishes, but still inconsistent. • Himitsu (Hibachi) – The experience was entertaining and fun, but the food itself lacked flavor and depth. It was enjoyable for the show, not the cuisine. • Room Service – A wide selection, but mediocre in taste and overall quality. While there were a few genuinely good hosts and waitstaff in the restaurants, many appeared unhappy to be there and were not particularly warm or helpful, which further affected the dining experience. The beach itself is decent, though certain areas became overcrowded, especially around the chairs, which took away from the relaxation during peak times. Partner businesses such as jet ski and snorkeling operators were readily available, professional, and open to negotiated pricing. One consistent positive throughout our stay was how well the staff treated us and the kids. They remembered who we were, checked in regularly, remembered our orders, and made us feel genuinely looked after. That level of care made a meaningful difference for our family. At this time, Dreams Sands would not be my first recommendation, primarily due to room quality and the very underwhelming food. With refreshed rooms, better attention to design and maintenance details, and a significant improvement in dining quality and gluten-free options, this resort has the potential to deliver a much stronger experience, especially given the excellent staff who clearly care about their guests.
Not up to Dreams standards

Beautiful beach but was in shade most of the day. No activities for kids. Loved the volleyball net in ocean. Food was generally good except for raw lobster and tough steaks occasionally. Almost everyone seemed to be preferred so only very early guests could get seats in partial sun. Early guests couldn't get seats at all on preferred beach. Preferred staff was very good. Public areas of hotel were very cold- always have a jacket.
