Second trip even better than the first! Great for intergenerational family trips
travelingwithchamp (Morristown, New Jersey) on Jan 17, 2026
My extended family and I just returned from our second stay at Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana. We didn't think it was possible but we enjoyed it even more than our first stay! We are a group of 15, with 8 adults (including my parents in their 60s/70s) and 7 kids (7 months to 9 years old). We HIGHLY recommend - you are guaranteed to have a fantastic time! It's always helpful for us to read detailed reviews, so sharing some highlights below. The bottom line? It's worth every penny. We haven't been able to find another resort that checks all the boxes for our family's particular needs. Yes, it is pricey, but this is a perfect example of "you get what you pay for." This resort delivers. POOLS: We mostly stay by the Club pool and especially love the shallow shelves since they are easy for our toddlers to use. The main pool also has a very shallow area for the kids. It's quite large with interesting features like a bridge to swim under and a cool infinity pool overlooking the beach. Great swim-up bars in each pool. Chairs and umbrellas by the pool (and beach) are never an issue. The hotel also provides all kinds of floats for kids and adults, so you don't have to pack anything - you can save the precious space in your suitcase! There is also a FULL WATER PARK complete with a shallow area for babies/toddlers, slides for all age ranges, and a lazy river. We are still in disbelief that this is included - it provided hours of entertainment for all of our kids. We have never come across a resort with this kind of facility on site. There is also a food truck and ice cream truck here which the kids loved. BEACH: Beautiful soft white sand and calm sea. Great for the kids. So many activities available for free. We used the stand up paddle boards and Hobie Cat boats. They also have kayaks. You can walk for a very long stretch along the beach and check out other resorts. There was some seaweed one day but not enough to disrupt our experience. HOTEL/GROUNDS: Only 15 minutes from the airport which is a huge perk after a long day of travel with littles. It's also a very manageable size which is key for us, as we have someone with mobility limitations and a lot of kids with little legs. The whole property is IMMACULATE. You never see trash, even empty cups. We passed by a seating area that had some trash from the people who had been sitting there and within seconds it vanished. It's like Disney World in that way. One morning there was a storm and we didn't even realize because there was no evidence when we woke up - we only knew because my brother in law saw branches etc on his way to the gym in the early AM, but everything was completely cleared up by time he was done working out. Nothing is ever out of place! The hotel also provides twice-daily housekeeping including turndown service, and that was an unexpected perk as (despite our best efforts) our kids always brought sand into the room. This also meant we always had cold water and snacks refreshed - which really came in handy for the kids. Finally if you're kid-free you can take advantage of the facilities on the Zilara side just next door. GYM: Several in our group used the facility every day and raved about it. It's huge with a ton of equipment and classes throughout the day. FOOD: Definitely superior to any other all inclusive we've been to. Navigator (Caribbean) and Tempest Table (the Mongolian/non hibachi side) are our favorites for dinner. Would skip Noodle and Thread Italian restaurant - two years in a row, the service was a little frenetic and food just OK (though admittedly we are tough critics as Italians from Jersey). The buffet is great and very clean - the staff serve guests which makes it a little bit of a longer experience than your typical buffet, but worth it for cleanliness and freshness. If you're a Club guest, Chinola is exceptional for breakfast and lunch. Shutters was our favorite spot for dinner on the adults-only side (we enjoyed while the grandparents babysat!). The coffee counter is great at all times of day, including grab and go sandwiches and pastries, and ice cream and popsicles. KIDS CLUB: You can drop off your kids for the day but we don't do that. Still, there are staff roaming around facilitating other activities all day that the parents can take part in. We did beach baseball, sand castle building, and slime making. There were so many other things going on like cupcake decorating and movies at night etc. I also took two toddlers to the actual facility so we could get out of the sun - parents can stay with kids under 4 from 12-2 pm each day. Very nice space with treehouse and tons of games. SPA: Used the spa for the first time with my mom and sisters and it was incredible! We all had massages and had great therapists. Facilities are immaculate with sophisticated amenities including a salt room, sauna, steam room, cold plunge, hot tub, etc. The only downside is the staff have to lead you through the circuit - you can't just lounge in each area on your own time. This was fine for us since we wanted to get back to our kids anyway, but just something to be aware of - it's not your typical spa where you can explore at your leisure. SERVICE: The staff are so incredibly kind and truly make you feel like family. Everyone seems to genuinely enjoy their job. I am always trying to improve my Spanish and especially appreciate how gracious all the staff are in conversing with me so I can practice. Some in my group don't know any Spanish and they never had a problem communicating in English. A very special shout out to the following staff: - Erika, Nathaly, Anjely, Jany, Deiby, and Jeffrey in the Club Pool area and Junior on the Zilaria side. This crew is truly amazing, remembering us from last year and even all of our names! They were always checking in on us to see if we needed a drink, some lunch, a towel, etc. - Samuel, our server on the beach, greeted us with a huge smile every morning. He is such a special person and I really hope he is there next year if we return! - Giancarlo and the team at Navigator! There was a sudden downpour while we were eating and they moved us within seconds to an indoor table and we continued the meal without skipping a beat. - Luisa, Bryan and Reyes in the Club lounge - excellent drinks and quick service - Valentine the bellhop - Ynes in the Spa - Housekeeping for room 2516 - Last but not least, Raquel our butler! Made our stay SEAMLESS. She took care of all dinner reservations and somehow was able to get all 15 of us seated together each evening. She even planned a special celebration for my nephew's 3rd birthday, complete with a gourmet cake! Raquel delivered other special touches throughout our stay. like sending champagne and charcuterie boards to our room each afternoon. We've looked at other properties on other islands, in the interest of exploring something new, but each alternative seems to fall short in some way. The Beaches resorts are probably the most similar but we priced them out and they are thousands of dollars more (at least for the weeks we're looking at). We would recommend Hyatt Ziva Cap Can to anyone - it's impossible to beat! We talked to at least 3 other families who felt the same way and were also visiting for return trips. We are so grateful to this resort and all the people who work there who made our stay so special! Thanks to you, our family made more priceless memories! ??
Wonderful quick family vacation

We had a wonderful experience. We traveled with my 5 and 3 year old and they thoroughly enjoyed the resort and the food, as did we. Our butler Martin was very helpful and was easy to reach with any questions. We also really enjoyed the aqua sports rentals. My kids had such a great time on the hobie cat sail boat. Our guide Johan was great. Food and beverage were good to great depending on the meal and the resort was very fresh, beautiful and well maintained. We also enjoyed visiting the onsite water park. Lastly after the kids went to bed we enjoyed getting takeout from the Indian restaurant attached to the other side of the hotel (Zilara)
Ziva is a great place for a multi-generation gathering.

We did a multigenerational family gathering in January and had a wonderful time at the Ziva. There was plenty of quality times, places, meals and adventures. We did a photo shoot that captured the memories. The Ziva stay was one of the best in our lifetime and if we are fortunate enough, we would do it again!
Great Pool, Great Beach and EXCELLENT Staff

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We had never stayed in an all-inclusive hotel before, and we were a little nervous that we might get bored. That was not the case at all! The rooms are very nice, the pools are beautiful, the beach is nice, and the food was incredible. There are 12 different restaurants on the property, with all kinds of food. We were only there for three nights, so we only tried half of them, but they were all good. I worried that the quality of the food might suffer from being an all-you-can-eat affair, but the quality was really, really good. The beef at the Mongolian BBQ was better than what we have had in the states! The staff is always around and very friendly. The poolside drinks came in a coconut and a pineapple and were so tasty. We stayed in the Ziva, but the hotel has a sister hotel that is connected called the Zilaria. The Zilaria is adults-only, so the pool and restaurants there have a different vibe, but it is still great. Adults can freely wander between the two pools and sets of restaurant. There was also entertainment every night. The families who were there really enjoyed that. There are also multiple bars, so you can grab a drink and watch the show. Wine was not included in the price, so you will have to pay for that at check out, but the specialy cocktails were included. Each bar and restaurant had unique cocktails. That made it fun. The hotel is located very close to the Punta Cana Airport. I think it took less than 15 minutes to get there.
Highly recommend this great resort

We had another incredible trip to the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana. It was our fourth time in 3 years, and it continues to be clean, not overcrowded, extremely friendly staff, with comfortable accommodations. Our butler Raquel was very friendly, attentive and responsive.
