Words Don't Do this Justice...

andygamm (Grand Rapids, Michigan) on May 24, 2024

It's been a hot minute since traveling internationally, the Caribbean in particular. But this place was WELL WORTH the wait and the exhaustive research. It delivered on all fronts. Staff: I'll start with our very favorite part - the Hyatt Ziva/Zilara staff. WOW. Exceeded expectations across the board! We spent most of our days at the adult pool on the Zilara side and the activities staff was fun, friendly, energetic, accommodating, personable... I could go on! Shout out to Wander, Manuel, Bryan, Elwin, and Ramon. They got to know us by name. They entertained us. They took care of us when our daugther hurt her knee at the water park and was lounge chair bound for a few days. I'd go back on this group of staff alone. They were a joy to be around and made you feel like the only visitors. Our club rooms came with the options of a butler. Again, over and above service. I understand they are much more necessary in high season but our two - Elvis and Juan - were always there with what we needed or to check on us. From making dinner reservations, to helping my wife surprise me with a belated birthday dinner and complementary bottle of rum, to assisting with anything we needed they were a blessing! So friendly, kind, and responsive. Elvis was recommended on Facebook and I see why! There were plenty of other staffers that were great at the bars and restaurants and in the club room, but one other gets a standing ovation - Melvin at the Mercado! Melvin was our breakfast buffet server on day two. He asked us to come back because we made him feel appreciated and happy. We sat in his seciton the next six days and got to know him. What an incredibly sweet, genuine, nice, and hard working man. He knew our favorites right away and had them waiting for us. People like Melvin make you realize how nasty folks in our own country are comparatively! Hats off to you, Melvin! Weather: You can't control that and the week before was very rainy but it was 88-90 with nary a cloud all week. Despite the possibilty of more rain as you slide into the shoulder season, we avoided massive crowds so the resort was buzzing but not jam packed. Maybe a roll of the dice to go in May but our weather was outstanding. Grounds: Impeccable. Clean, with plenty of staff on hand to keep it that way but without feeling their presense. The beach was gorgeous, perfect for a morning walk. The water warm and shallow. The pools were plentiful and the chairs, umbrellas, cabanas, etc. all in tip top shape. The landscaping was beautiful and added pops of privacy and breaks between spaces. Nothing was found in any sort of bad shape or disrepair. Rooms: We had two junior swim up suites, club level. Was't sure what to expect with the swim up but what a great treat! To be able to spend the day at one of the big pools but then come unwind and chill in this suncreen free pool (LOL) was a nice bonus. The two lounge chairs in the water were great as well. The patio had one of the most comfy outdoor sofas you could ask for. A great place to nap or chill and read. The small table and chairs served more as a spot to let items dry out for us but were great for morning coffee too. The rooms themselves were very new, clean, modern, and well attended to. The housekeeping service was all over it, mopping the tile daily and really keeping it tip top. Bed was super comfy and getting some extra pillows was no problem at all. Room stays nice and cool too and air runs as long as exterior doors aren't open. Bathroom was spacious, the rain shower large, and there was also plenty of storage in the room. Food and Beverage: We saw plenty of up and down reviews on F&B and it can be hit or miss at all inclusives but we had nothing but fantastic food and beverage experience! There are plenty of choices and variety. Tempest was our favorite and a great two time option since it has a hibachi side and a Mongolian BBQ side. Noodle and Thread was not quite as tempting but was still a solid Italian option. Mercado gives you an amazing breakfast buffet and has some themes at night. Waves was also a favorite. Good options for us carnivores and a nice sea breeze while you eat. We didn't hit all the spots on this trip but there are many other options. A daily lunch fav was the staff coming out with personal pizzas that were both really good and not too overwhelming! The One Eyed Cat and Grog Grotto Rum bar were favs. Great bartenders and some fun and tasty concoptions! Go for the el Papelon at Grogs. Pool bars were great, drinks good and with plenty of choices. The club pool bar was the spot though when it got too busy in the water. No shortage of food and beverage at any point! The last personal fav was the Coffee Republic. A perfect spot for a nightcap and for that morning coffee and man, that DR joe is GOOD. I'm sure there is plenty more to comment on but all in all, our first all inclusive in years and first as a family. We will be back. The staff alone makes that a must but the overall experinece was worth every penny. If you want a great time with ample options, a chance to be around just adults or play with the kids, this is your spot!

Great Experience, will visit again one day

Roam474505 on May 23, 2024

We had a great experience at Ziva Cap Cana. The staff are all wonderful and the food was great. We were there over Mother's Day and they had special Mother's Day evening events that made a nice touch. The Beach Bonfire was great. Several days later we had a Beach Party with fire dancers. Overall our experience was great. Elvin with the entertainment team was great. Our kids enjoyed his many interactions, and they always looked for him at all the events. Pros: Plenty of food options for sit down meals, lots of variety. El Mercado is the perfect place to go with kids, there is always something they can enjoy Resort is nicely laid out, and not a very long walk to anything. Staff was tremendous and always helpful. Cons: Disappointed in the room. Bathroom just felt dirtier than other areas and clearly had and were still having some water/leaking issue with the shower. A/C kept resetting the setpoint and frequently felt warm.

Most Fantastic Experience!

Crystal23 (Atlanta) on May 23, 2024

The service and cleanliness of this resort are impeccable. I've never met such wonderful staff who are attentive to every need; even ones you didn't realize you had! Highly recommend due to their top notch service! Food and beverage selections are better than any other all inclusive. The adult side of the resort is AMAZING!

Amazing family oriented resort

Peterayy (Pequannock, New Jersey) on May 23, 2024

Great experience at the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana Resort. Staff was exceptional, food was great, and many activities for kids and adults! Ranking the restaurants I would recommend the hibachi and Italian. It is first come first serve so no need to make a reservation beforehand. For lunchtime I would recommend eating at the navigator grill as I favored it over the premium BBQ. Highly recommend!
