We came on this trip with another couple, and overall had a nice time. The food was good, lots of options. I wished that the allergies were better labeled for the buffets. Eating at the restaurants were fine allergy wise, the servers pointed out what we could and couldn’t eat (gluten and dairy). They offer to have the chef show you around the buffet for allergies, but since the food changes, you would need to do it every time, and it’s not great if you’re hungry and looking to eat quickly. The beach is clean, the rooms are pretty modern. Some of the blinds don’t close all the way, so if you need to sleep in a dark room, you may want to bring a sleep mask. The pools are nice. The adult only pool was super quiet. We came in January, and didn’t have any problems finding chairs at the beach or pools. The gym was fine also. Has one bench for bench pressing, a number of cable machines and dumbbells. No squat rack, only a smith machine. There’s a separate room with two reformers and some TRXs. Activities all day, and night too. We had access to White Sands because they were giving access to the resort, so we went for lunch and breakfast a few times. Lots of high bridges to get around and it did have a slightly odd sulfur smell. Glad we stayed at the Colonial.

It’s alright at best, food and drinks were alright, overall decent. The entire property feels dated. Rooms are musty and moldy. Beach was full of rocks and seaweed, the higher tier side of the hotel is cleaner and their beach was nice. The hotel tier system makes you feel extremely segregated by the amount of limitations and areas that are off limits, meanwhile even with all that it is still not worth getting the higher tier.

Couples abandon this place… the romance is not here. The music was American pop.. Mexico left this place long ago. Very children oriented. The adult areas were empty and had no vibrance. The performances were lame and very budget. The ocean was warm.. but the area in front of the resort is full of rocks and coral and there is little to no area to enjoy the ocean.

Great entertainment experiences here with the cocktail and margarita class with Cristian/Jonathan/Ivanne. Tuesday is the margarita class and Wednesday the cocktail at 4 pm. Sign up at the colonial towel place. Nice to have a non water activity! Honest review from your Canadian friends.

The location is magical. All the service was very pleasant and polite. The room was satisfactory. The cleaning services were wonderful. We went for a trip to Tulum ruins and snorkeling with turtles. The guide Fernando and driver Juan were lovely acknowledgeable and funny. The beach, sea and pools were wonderful. The food services, facilities were accessible everywhere. Thank you for this experience :)
