Good... but not 5-Star.

Trevor W on Jan 03, 2026

My wife & I went here for 2 weeks. It was nice, but not a 5-Star resort. The coffee was great & the food was OK. Anyone with mobility issues will have to ask for a room on the ground floor because the 3-story room buildings do not have elevators. The shower in the washroom was nice, but the tub wall is so high that it made you a little nervous getting in & out of the shower, even with no physical issues: if you have even small mobility issues then you might not be able to take a shower; some form of a step would be VERY useful. Walking through the covered forest trails was very pleasant. I will say that it was a very beautiful hotel. It's hard to be too critical... but for the most part it was just OK. But it's the people who make a place. Generally the staff is very pleasant & they go out of their way to help you & make your stay enjoyable! Kudos! I wish I could remember the name of a couple of my waiters at the buffet... very good. My especial kudos go to the staff at the sports centre (soccer, archery etc.)... in particular Alessandra, Victor, Andrés, & Paola: they made the experience at the Palladium Kantenah memorable & a lot of fun! Without those four staff members it would have been a mostly forgettable experience... without them it would have been just another hotel.

Overall an enjoyable experience

The trip wasn’t overall great success. The only thing I would not recommend is the El Dorado restaurant as the server we had was not the greatest, nor was the food experience.

Amazing hotel but hidden charges, ruined experience

Pete P on Jan 01, 2026

At checkin they tried to upcharge for 6 year old at $352 per night, I called hotel and confirmed that for an extra person it would be $120 so just buyer beware. No consideration as whatever you say to front desk does not matter as you are already there and the transportation as already left. I can't drink $700 worth of alcohol to make up for this.

Great!

Vicky V (Toronto, Canada) on Jan 01, 2026

Just wonderful. The beach is absolutely great and the choice from a la carte is very vast. The staff is amazing too. Shoutout to Carlos who KNOWS how to host aqua fit but can hold a relaxing meditation session after a workout. Victor in the sports centre is also great for archery especially. This hotel is a must visit. It is connected to two other areas and there are lots of visitors but the space is huge so no worries about that. :)

A poor 5 star holiday.

karenmM7214QP (Hamilton, United Kingdom) on Dec 31, 2025

I wanted to give myself time to reflect on this holiday and not write a knee jerk review. I’ll try to keep this brief. Located on a busy motorway. The place is far too expansive to get a personalised welcoming feel from staff. The a la carte restaurants looked amazing but the food and service were very poor. Don’t let them sit you aside next to the ponds. You’ll be eaten alive by mosquitoes no matter how much repellant you have on. Sports bar; decent food but service often shocking although I wouldn’t blame the staff as I just don’t think there was enough of them. Sometimes no food on offer at all for whatever reason. Buffet food was reasonable. Breakfast and the egg station a highlight. If you don’t upgrade and have a purple AI band you are differently treated differently/poorly. Still paying for a 5 star hotel so don’t agree with this at all. We were generous tippers. This did not improve the service from staff. In the end we tipped the cleaning staff who were more appreciative. The church was stunning. Pool areas good. Guy at the towel hut was rude and obnoxious. The sea was grim. So rocky, smelly and filled with seaweed. Not the hotels fault but just an observation. Our room was next to the motorway with zero view. Again they obviously hope you’ll upgrade. Room was clean and quiet. Unsure there was many actually staying in this block due to distance from the main resort. Everything is clean and beautiful but it lacks personality and warmth. I’d never go back and wouldn’t recommend it, unless you’re prepared to pay extra and upgrade.
